Today is the first of August. Practically immobilized with stress, anxiety, guilt and depression.
These are supposed to be happy events. Things I should be joyfully anticipating.
On the 10th my brother and his wife are bringing my two granddaughters and staying with us for two nights.
So far so good.
But:
On the 17th I am taking the girls home. 5am start. 2 hour drive to ferry. Ferry to UK, 2- 3 hour drive to girls home.
18th my daughter is expecting to have her fourth child, while I look after her three children.
20th drive to visit mother 2 hour drive. Two nights?
Meanwhile in France :
20th our 3 sons arrive for a weeks visit. While I am obliged to remain in UK.
22nd return to daughters. one night
23rd drive to ferry and overnight return to France.
24th 2 hour drive from ferry to home where I will finally get to see my sons who will depart on the 27th.
Not at all happy with this schedule, but it is impossible to change any part of it..because fixed points are 10th, 18th and 20th and 27th for other people.
Driving for any distance has always been a problem for me. Anything much over an hour becomes difficult. Stress about the driving esp in LH drive car on what now is the wrong side of the road for me has me almost entirely immobilised. Unable to think straight or decide what needs doing next. House is a mess, garden worse - so much rain causing many mould problems and huge amount of weeds.
Am praying daughter has baby early. Tomorrow would be good.

I tried it @AnnbIt did work, although not as crunchy as I used to make it. A little bit dry but holding together. I'll cut the bars in half to make squares - a whole 2"+ by 1"+ bar would be too much to eat in one go. Wish I could eat oats and dates though - quite enjoyed the taste and, as luck would have it, my BG was dropping too low, so the little chunk I tried would have stopped the drop, I hope.
Maybe equal quantities of dates to oats would work better.

1 small cup oats
1/2 small cup melted butter
1/2 small cup powdered dates (I bought powdered dates awhile ago, they were not cheap, as I only envisaged using a teaspoon at a time.)
Pinch ginger and pinch of salt.
Then microwave, medium setting. About a minute, then checking every few seconds. And tasting to see when done. Suddenly they were done, and when cooled, not crumbly at all. I did it on a glass dish lid in the microwave. Flattened it to 1/4 inch high (it rose a bit). And it made about a 7 inch square. I did take my blood sugars before I started, because I knew I would be nibbling for taste. And I ate two of the final 1/2 inch squares (only 1/4 inch deep). It tasted delicious all the way through, even the uncooked mix! It held together well when cooked and with being cooked in the microwave was chewy in texture.
I declare Tuesday Flapjack Tuesday. There are another 8 half inch squares. So two just on a Tuesday and they will last me a month.... I don't want to mess up my weight loss...
Blood sugars rose .8 by one hour, an hour later they had almost gone down.It is a bit late in the day to eat this treat, I had my last/final meal at midday. It would have been better to eat it between breakfast and lunch.

I was beginning to wonder if that was the case. Thanks for that information. I've ordered some from Amazon to arrive in a couple of days. I shan't be using it for me - too many carbs, but Neil has found that he can use date syrup without reacting so, perhaps date sugar can be added to his diet so that he can sweeten baked goods. Same here Lamont, Marjorie and Helen sat out on the front garden seats after 1500.I should keep moaning!

Thank you all for the supportive messages. Apparently a good moan and Some sympathy has helped immensely, am feeling a lot better this morning. A sunny morning after another deluge in the night. It is also possible that there have been crossed wires or misinformation as at least one of my sons was not aware I wouldn't be here when they arrived...
Optimistically, or perhaps foolishly last night extended invitation for coffee on thursday to some other english ladies who live nearby. However I was under the mistaken impression that it was monday yesterday. So now need to do panic cleaning before visitors tomorrow. And I promised cake...
The house is a renovation project, now almost complete, but since my brother has not been here for over a year they will both be keen to see the improvements. So it needs to be at least clean and tidy. Same for the garden. Would like it to be tidy. As for the driving I do use all the tactics suggested, but thank you all for thinking of me and making suggestions.

Not bad after the Thai meal that we had last night to mark the final evening with our friend from LA before he trots off this morning. Always a bit of a chew-on tip toeing through a restaurant menu but I ended up having two starters, fish and then soup - seemed to work. “No rice for me please, I’m awkward”. If you ask what they recomend for a vegan they usually say “a taxi?”. Mrs Miggins out to lunch with her Aunts today so I will be left unsupervised in blissful silence, apart from the whisperings of the inner chimp. Those Carthusians must have been raving mad having to talk silently to themselves. I like the architecture. Oh, and some of the art is nice although sometimes a bit weird - Dante was a tad exentric. Art bit today - a couple of buffalo being chivied on. Have a smashing day if you can. @JohnEGreen - I take two tramadol and two paracetamol for my whining and complaining back and left hip. Left hip does not co-operate even then despite some fruity scolding. Best have koffy.
