Yes, those very high tides can be so dangerous. Good that the local constabulary close the promenade when there are unusually high tides.
 
Shingles can be very painful, one has to take an antiviral as soon as possible and take gabapentin for any nerve pain. I had shingles a few years ago I had some professional advice.
The nerve pain in my left arm would not respond to conventional pain killers and antivirals have to be taken as early as possible, else it can't be stopped.

I'll phone the pharmacy tomorrow and see if they can help but there are no doctors available at the weekend. Last time I had it, the GP diagnosed it over the phone (accurately I think) and recommmended paracetymol and codeine. Yes, it was painful but didn't last very long (about 2 weeks), perhaps due to the vaccination. When Alistair had it, some years ago now, the GP prescribed gentian violet. It didn't help at all. It lasted for ages, or seemed to. When Tom had it on his face, the GP again just recommended paracetymol - it lasted about 3 weeks. On that occasion I was concerned because it was very close to his eye, but the GP didn't seem to be concerned, so maybe I shouldn't have been.

We were going to be in Glasgow this weekend but decide to give it a miss. We did, a few years ago, do the open top bus tour there in the rain wearing emergency capes and carrying brollies - but that is just a once in a lifetime experience like swimming with great white sharks.

Good morning everyone on a quite surprising and unusual for this time of year downpour of rain here in the dark and dangerous north. Still, the gardens are well watered and the cars are looking clean. Woke with a start this morning. Can’t remember taking one of those to bed with me. A reading of 3.0 just before 5am. Not sure if that was what woke me up or Major General Bladder sounding the charge. Anyhow, after a quick conference between bladder, pancreas, liver and some other minor minions, we got to something sensible after gut biome suggested some kefir and Greek yoghurt with a bit of inulin chucked in. Nice, as I can now take my pills. Art bit, another starter for ten. Hope your day is kind to you. Best have some koffy.

Morning all on a damp but mild and calm start here in L.A. Hugs required for shingles @Annb and sudden awakening for @dunelm plus those affected or likely to be affected by Antoni. We are forecast merely light rain showers and a moderate breeze. @gennepher thank you for those superb creatives - such wonderful colours and patterns. @dunelm thank you for sharing the start of something magical. Not the early morning dairy and inulin treat, those strange vertical things we don't have hereabouts. @Krystyna23040 just reading your schedule is tiring enough so I hope tomorrow is as relaxing as you wish for. Enjoy the day in your own way. Mine will certainly involve watching plenty of sport as there are football, cricket and rugby coaches needing my (unsolicited) advice - even though they may not realise their need. I may very well take a refresher course in tea drinking just to brush up on my technique.

We'll have to see if Monday (or whenever I can get a prescription) is early enough. Last time no anti-virals were prescribed anyway. In fact, on none of the occasions I mentioned were they offered. Possibly they were not available when Alistair had his gentian violet treatment but they certainly were by the time both Tom and I had shingles.
 
Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen, today is a fractal day, a day of many fractions one of which will be being shouted at to do my trouser zip up, perhaps Mrs J doesn’t want the sympathy vote from her friends if they happen to call in.

Shingles, rather nasty, many years ago not long after my transplant I had a bout of shingles, unfortunately on my testicles, numerous visits to the hospital in Birmingham were required, but luckily it cleared up, but not after a new Christmas Carol was penned by some of the hospital staff causing much amusement “ Shingle balls, Shingle balls, Shingle all over “. One has to look for the bright side of life.
