Hi all,
I have to do a morning shop at Lidl this am and I am not looking forward to getting through the till. I shall be very slow and out of breath. This will will be the first time I have shopped on my own for years, I usually wait outside and the duchess does it but she will be resting with her leg up for a week or two, I am not my best in a morning!

Take your time. I always go for a trolley rather than a basket but the little seat is now too high to climb into.
 
Good morning everyone on another bright start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. I do like the mornings, best part of the day and of course the fact that I woke up is nice - there will be a time when that grinds to a halt. Loads of stuff will happen, I just won’t be involved. Anyhow, such a nice afternoon yesterday. And today I have tested negative so as a special treat I shall have a trip out to the emporium that is Aldi and ogle at how bits of plastic can be moulded into all sorts of stuff that I don’t want in the Isle Of Mystery. I always take a list when shopping or I forget stuff and don’t like straying from said list unless there is a decent bottle of plonk on offer. Art bit, ink on wet paper. Have a smashing day if you can. Must remember to put the bins out tonight but first, some koffy.

Cat Midnight jumped on swing ledge and watches Pa Badger. You can see Midnight's eyes all through this video, sometimes one eye, sometimes two...
Where the swing is rocking by itself, Pa Badger is pulling the cloths out of the back of the swing.
I do not know what this particular badger's obsession with the swing is?
These cloths and cushions are tied on to the swing with rope, because last Christmas Pa Badger would pull everything off the swing, especially on a rainy day, and it was a heck of a job trying to dry it all...

Acrylics done in the garage, but I am very short of time, and so I can only suggest what I see in this. I saw a horse's head in the sky. The second try was a cow's head (unintentionally), then it morphed into a dragon. Went back to doing an outline of a horse head. No time to finish, so do your imagining....

Sad days for some of our friends. One couple has just said goodbye to a much loved doggie companion of 14 years. Poor thing had cancer. They are devastated.
Another couple who had a beloved cat disappear last autumn (he was eventually found dead six weeks later) have the worry of their remaining cat being seriously ill.
All this pet related distress has triggered my own grief for Errant. Still badly missed
 
Morning all from not quite the last of the summer of '23 - I never did get my first real 6 string*. Shopping day and the sad loss of pets seem to be today's themes. @lindisfel best wishes for #lidlgate - would 2 weeks or so of online shopping work? @dunelm thanks for sharing the magnificent art, good news on testing negative. Do avoid the shiny things in Aldi - their cognac stands up well to basic Rémy Martin @<£s. @gennepher the 20 mph furore seems to have turned quite unpleasant - no place for death threats. Thanks for sharing the creative - very on point - (no need to read the whole thing but always acknowlege sources). @Krystyna23040 hug for the tiredness driving hunger..I'd get that temp diary secretary back asap. @SlimLizzy hug for those losses being triggering. @JohnEGreen hug for the high fbg. Baking day here yesterday - keto bread and keto Speculoos. Thanks be to God through JKP - does that count as an attitude of gratitude? Still no test for the gutters here but the autumn strawberries are looking good. Enjoy your day as far as possible.

10.3 at 4.50 this morning. Usual (these days) pain killers and tea. 9.3 at 8.40 (before breakfast). Now 8.4.

The kitchen is a bit clearer now. The table has been put back together and re-covered. One extension section is on trestles in the hallway. It took quite a lot of cleaning and has had a first coat of oil, but needs more. The 2nd extension section is still in its corner waiting to be brought out and cleaned but we may have to get some more teak oil for that - there was very little left in the bottle when we started this little job. I'm thinking about getting a bigger, different shaped table out of the loft and putting this one away (suitably wrapped against the damp and cold). The one I am thinking about is an oak, refectory style about 1 metre by about 2 metres. Narrower than the teak one but longer. Not sure if it will fit in the space.

I did have a beautiful and beautifully designed, old oak table (about 1930's or so) which was a good size for this kitchen - about 1 metre square when not extended - but I gave it, and its chairs, to Alistair because the table in their house was too big and they got rid of it. Later, they bought a new, small circular table and, I discovered, used the wood from my lovely oak table to build two bedheads for the children. I was (secretly) quite annoyed at that and would have asked for it back and bought some bedheads for them had I known beforehand. But, fair enough, I had given it to them so I had no right to be annoyed. I could do with it now, though. Ah well. That's life. The milk is spilt so I'll keep my tears to myself.

I can definitely see a horse amongst the blues, and some kind of fish up at the the right top corner. Love the colours.

Quite apart from needing help with his worldview, Lawrence Fox (nice twist on Fox News) urgently needs to go to Specsavers as well as a "re-education workshop." How did we get here? The real power behind useful idiots like Newt Gingrich* et al have so much to answer for. Sometimes cancel culture seems to be the only way. The reaction isn't religion, politics - although, the personal is, as they (2nd wave feminists) say, political - or wokeism. Just basic human decency.

If I need to use a trolley, I scoot along with my left on the rail at the back under the basket and push with my right. For some unknown reason, I have been barred from some smaller shops!

6.3, on this rather damp and cold day when I have been told Aggie will happen, not yet it hasn't as there is no wind. Is it late in arriving as is most parcel delivery services. My postman delivers between 1.30 pm and 2.30pm.

I lost my patterdale terrier about six months ago, I just miss his presence. Not being there. Nowt else, as he preferred, the FIL's company than me! I know why, so don't go thinking evil things of me!!!!
It was because the old man always dropped food for him. We bought him as a three month pup, in 2004!
We have always had a dog, since we had our own home. But time has come to be without one, enough is enough, I have too much to do! And I do too much now!

Chores and a shop done.

Looking forward to my counselling tomorrow, need some contemplation time to ascertain my reasons. This new counsellor comes with good recommendations. We shall see.
Still no word from the roofers! Hope Aggie is kind to us!

Surely the political motivation is class privilege because money is the solution to their poor health service treatment, education and the good life they believe they have...they can pay for it.
They pay less tax than the poor and do not reflect the basic decency of a cohesive society.
They are forcing professions to turn on the working class when they seek better incomes and they couldn't care less, they are not affected.

Getting more oil out the North Sea will only help those who invest in the companies...it is sold at the world price it won't help fuel bills just increase climate change.
People in the Red Wall were duped by the right wing propaganda through their belief they would have better opportunities to prosper if free of Europe, the converse was true.

I got up to the toilet in the night and turned the lights off and looked out at the sky from our back door.....it is pitch black here at night with no street lights.
Its how the country should be.

I was surprised it was a brilliant clear night with the stars twinkling... it was cloudy both ends of the night.

I am now practised at keeping at exactly 20 mph whether on the flat or a hill @ianpspurs

I still think it is too much to come off the bypass at 70mph, straight into a 20mph zone with no interim 30 mph speed. I know the sudden 20mph is there on a bend, and I am already slowing down and round the next bend is the mobile speed camera...a cash cow?
