What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Like I harped on about the Specsavers optician lady @Lamont D that I saw on Monday who said I had cataracts, but yet she leaves me dangling and says I have to go back this coming Thursday for her to examine me. She could have done the examination she was going to do this coming Thursday there and then last Monday because I was still within my appointment time. I'll start harping on it again if I am not careful because obviously it is in my mind at the mo.
Now, I haven't told my daughter in Australia, which I would normally do if there was a more serious health problem, because she is literally thousands of miles away, cannot do anything about it, and no point in worrying her about it at this stage (or maybe at any stage in this) because she knows my eyes are important to me with lipreading they are my ears, so there's no point in me, giving her another worry. So instead, I mithered you lot about it to relieve my stress n it...and to shed off a burden helps, helps articulation, and at leaves my mind free to make any possible plans et cetera et cetera.

So you can mither us all as much as you like @Lamont D
We all need some outlet that is not our nearest and dearest, and this thread satisfies the need for that. The founder of this thread who all of us fondly remember, who were there from the start, was very careful to put the parameters in this thread, so that we could freely talk about and discuss just about anything...so thank you Harrison wherever you are now.

By the way my ex husband was a postie in Liverpool in Copperas Hill, when it was still there, so you can imagine jokes/pranks that got played...ex was just an innocent serious Welshman from Swansea with no concept of practical jokes...

Brilliant art bit...a different perspective on completion than the way I imagined it going @dunelm
Keep warm...

BG dropped really low last evening and I had to take action so had one date. Result? I supppose you could say so. By bedtime it was 12.7. At 0045 my Libre went off again and showed 11.8. Got up at 0400 and it was 11.4. Now10.8. At least it's heading in the right direction.

Cold here, but not as bad as some of you are suffering so I should be grateful. The radiators are on, but it's not having much effect on the temperature in here. Probably another layer of clothes would help.

Fbg 6.7

Creative today is a kaleidoscope of the Mahonia from yesterday. This is the only sunshine in my garden.
Freezing outside again. It was -5C outside in the early hours. I closed my bedroom window because the cold was creeping rapidly indoors. I like sleeping with an open window,

Wildlife nighttime video.
Cats Midnight & Jade on the swing together & 2 Badgers
53secs

Me, I need a nap, was working on videos in the early hours. This latest iPad up date has messed up my device lots...

Some clouds in the blue sky here. Rain predicted soon...

I found a bag of seeds. Put them on the little bird table which is now covered in sparrows, bluetits, many greattits, and a male robin. I put cat biscuits and peanuts as well.

Have your best day.

Smashing Mahonia kaleidoscope. Enjoy your nap.

A gentle hug for the concern of the journey.

But I gave a win, for the offer of a 'Designated Driver'.

Safe travels .

Snowed here yesterday but not overnight - roads will be icy here this morning. I think that giving up my two wheels was probably a good thing to do but I do miss riding.
Hug for that, mate

Sensible but still a sense of loss, I'm sure.

Nothing quite matches the madness of dressing for the ride, & that zen like feeling of being (almost) at one with nature as the world zip on past.

Same to Mr K, @Krystyna23040 .

I drove all year round for many a year, but there were times ( & days of them) it just wasn't worthwhile or sensible.

Good call by your man.

Morning all from frosty the no show, except for blowup versions, snowman (yet) L.A. Seasonally impractical for much of the UK who need to live somewhere cheap enough then travel miles to work or shop with woeful/non existent public transport. Fbg of 4.7 at 4.36 or 5.3 at around 8.02. @dunelm thank you for sharing the stunning art and the word festooned but not attic - very long story and also a word I don’t think I have ever actually heard said. @gennepher thanks for sharing the kaleidoscope which reminds me of some early 70s dresses - in a good way. @Krystyna23040 take the offer of a lift - isn't the F Pace 4x4? @lindisfel hug for not eating most of yesterday. One way or another I've averaged around 1200 cals per day over the last 7 days and I think my body has decided to inflate bg at times to supplement things. I read the Sciency/Mathsy bits and ..... one body many members (gifts?). Now Jude the obscure, indeed all Hardy, animates me. Have a poem - very fitting for this weather. @Annb I hope DIL is gradually recovering and Alistair isn't trying to do too much. In a previous version I would already have walked the dogs for hours in the early morning ice, come back, showered and had the log burner roaring. Now I'm left waving and feeling auf Wiedersehen pet. I don't like Streisand much but that song is now lodged in my head. Have a tattyfilarious day - but

Have been prescribed vitamin D.

Symptoms of vitamin D deficiency may include:
  • Fatigue.
  • Not sleeping well.
  • Bone pain or achiness.
  • Depression or feelings of sadness.
  • Hair loss.
  • Muscle weakness.
  • Loss of appetite.
  • Getting sick more easily.
No bone pain and haven't noticed hair loss, but certainly the fatigue and feelings of weakness, sadness and almost total loss of appetite plus an infection seem spot on.
Was expecting a pack of twelve pills, instead got this.
Some difficulty in working out how to take this single dose supplement. Google to the rescue.
Also do I now have to get monthly repeat prescription ?
MrSlim and I are both very happy to surprise medical professionals with a list of zero medications. Seems this is unusual.
Very frosty morning, -2°C. Not really liking that MrSlim has gone to look at and possibly buy a gate for our field. Drive of about an hour each way.
We have a dinner invitation for tonight.
Am not going to be the perfect guest...No alcohol and low appetite. Cannot even contribute amusing conversation. Not been anywhere and hardly done anything to talk about. Will have to rely on questions.

Hug for the present situation but an optimistic for the potential turnaround now the cause has been identified and winner when that happens. Enjoy as much of the meal and company as you can. Your excellent manners and innate charm will be enough. God bless and keep you now and always.

I'll pass on Jude the Obscure...just read the sample on Kindle @lindisfel

Those samples on Kindle usually tell me I do not want to read a recommended book...
I wouldn't recommend it, I read it through and it depressed me for three months.

I think Calvinism is much to do with the Scotsman's problems. Those guys roasted those they saw as heretics who just were different Christians.
St George apparently refused his duty for The Roman Army because he wouldn't kill Christians and was executed. But it was fairly typical of the early Christians.
I don't agree with five point Calvinisn I don't like the smell of TULIPs.

Thank you Ian.
You have a good day...

I'd say, just to add, if you're able to get blood tests done, try adding your B12, if you don't already know it.

Seems that until 60 we get and metabolise sufficient to keep us in a good place, but 60+ and especially those with T2D & taking Metformin, it begins to ebb.

See the B movie under my signature for a "murder she wrote" type of movie about just how many ways a lack of B 12 can impact young & old alike.

Found out mine was close to bottom of range 200-900.

A few months of sublingual B12 got that back to mid 300's.

Hopefully this and presumably a repeat prescription will sort this @SlimLizzy
