Won't they make an allowance for injury?Thank you @Annb. The poor lad is in a football academy. He will miss all this season and then will have to fight for a place again next year.
The pastry was different, then the filling didn't taste like rich mincemeat and it was meagre...I spat it out! Thanks for the lovely Christmas card and the very best Christmas wishes for you and all of your brood, too. Enjoy those treats - pity about the mince pies - did they change the recipe?
I tasted one of my mince pies and the mincemeat still tasted a bit odd to me, but the family say they like them, so that's allright. I might have baked them a bit too much (not in any way burned) because I didn't want any soggy bottoms. My oven temperature isn't as reliable as it once was, so I had to put the temperature up a bit towards the end of baking (I didn't want chalk white pastry).
Thank you, I will!!Very christmasy! Traditional! Nice!
Except, around here is is mid teens and warm.
Merry chrimbo, enjoy your treats.
You are working too hard @AnnbStill baking! I've heard that some friends are coming to visit on Saturday. There are 5 children (ages from4 to 14) amongst them and 5 adults. I asked Neil to get a couple of pizza bases with the shopping, but that was another item gone missing with the shortage of supplies so I am making my own bases today, to get ahead, and will finish them on Saturday afternoon. The children are all very fond of pizza (usually shop made, so whether mine will fit the bill, who knows?) On Friday I will make a rice dish and a split pea or lentil dish for the adults - that's if Neil can get split peas or lentils on Thursday. Failing all else, there will be a pot of chicken and vegetable soup anyway. I have mince pies and mini Christmas puddings as well as some bread pudding - none of which will suit the younger kids so will have to make some cupcakes as well. Maybe Thursday or Friday for those. Looks like being a fairly busy week.

Bit of a disaster with the pizza bases. Haven't made pizza in years and never before made bases alone. And I burned them, I used a new recipe which called for the oven to be as hot as it would go. Then forgot to get them out on time. Real burnt offerings! Try again tomorrow. You are working too hard @Annb
I have just been asleep...now going to set up the trail cameras to record what happens with the beasties this Xmas Eve...
Make sure you get some rest x
Unfortunately not. The have to trial for their place every season - it’s quite brutalWon't they make an allowance for injury?
Thank you @ianpspursWinner all the way until the last sentence
If I can remember from the academy, the club is not allowed to release a player who has sustained a long term injury. It is hard for them but the medical teams are usually top notch in pro football academies.Thank you @Annb. The poor lad is in a football academy. Get well soon, mate.Had a migraine the last two days can't post today.
