it bouncing down now, big puddles, but can see blue sky to the South east. And over the city to the North.I am waiting for it to bounce down here. I am wanting that rain. I need that rain...
I have just done edit no 2 on my post "We have lightning!! But I cannot tell if there is thunder because my Cochlear sound processor is not working...oh WOW that was some lightning flash! Trees are beating each other. Now, I need the rain to water my garden and pots....please rain!!!!"
But I don't smell the rain now...
I think it is detouring to you @Lamont D
No rain for me...it is now a beautiful sunny blue skied evening...
Klingons you say...mmhhI believe that the tories are aliens!
As they are so inhumane.
As long As it's not the Klingons.
The parasites.Sunak is doing a good impression...
Maybe it's some sort of tribute act ?
Sunday's FBG 4.6 mmol on waking at 6.00 am.It could well be what THEY want us to think @jjraak . Unfortunately we have no way of knowing.
Another beautiful work of art @dunelm although the trees look none too healthy. Were the branches lopped off?Good morning everyone on another sunny start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.8 this am. Smashing day yesterday but the high temperature played havoc with my ankles. I think there will be a lot of lobster looking folk about today. Never understood the idea of sun bathing. Who watched the massive music mess last night? No, me neither. I think that it had run its course quite a few years ago. Sad when such things go all weird and political. We seem to be living in the flight path of some newly made bee colony. I am carefully removing at least 8 or 9 lost bees a day using a glass tumbler and a stiff piece of paper. Wonder if it’s the same few each time - the ones well left of the foraging bell curve? I think they need to improve this famous waggle dance that people bang on about. I would help if I could but I can’t speak bee and my days of choreographing Pan’s People is a distant memory. Art bit - another quite quick sketch due to my meagre ration of time for myself at present. I hope that your day is a good one. Say hello to all and sundry but in randomly picked languages. I like Swedish, ‘Hej’ - it makes folk look around for privet. Best have some koffy.
Russet bottoms? @gennepher. Soumds like a carder bee, Bombus pascuorum. They're docile little bumblebees and so hard-working.Brilliant pollarded trees @dunelm
Fortunately all my bumblebees and those that live in a colony are only coming for the wild flowers, and the odd bumblebee that comes n the bungalow, I open the door or window and say "Thataway.." with my arm and finger pointing for good measure in case they prefer visual signage...or I might gather it up in my hands (I am told they don't usually sting...so far that has held true...). I love those small ones with the russet silky bums...and yes, I can't resist stroking them...
Yes, that is them. I couldn't think of the name offhand @LivingLightlyRusset bottoms? @gennepher. Soumds like a carder bee, Bombus pascuorum. They're docile little bumblebees and so hard-working.
Well, the Klingons were on the starboard bow.I believe that the tories are aliens!
As they are so inhumane.
As long As it's not the Klingons.
Thank’s for that @LivingLightly. In France they like to pollard trees - especially Plane Trees. The ones near where my parents live are quite old I think so have quite a gnarled look until the new growth appears. Bit like old and pollarded Willows. We do have a bird bath in the front garden so will try moving it to the back and see what happens.Another beautiful work of art @dunelm although the trees look none too healthy. Afraid, I can't speak bee language either. (I've established communication with some invertebrates, but that's another story.). At one time, we used to identify individual bees with a spot of nail polish, but I expect entomologists use paint pens to make a small dot on the thorax.
I've picked up bumble bees between thumb and index finger, but they are docile creatures. The tumbler and card trick is the safest way to remove any invertebrate from your home, if you'd rather not handle them.
Do you have a bird bath? Bees seem to find them attractive, so re-siting the bath might persuade them to reroute their flught path.
Worth a try.
Pleased for you that the outing went well. I think the trick is to get up and stretch your legs every half hour to remind them what their job is.When I woke up at 5AM was 6.3 but now at 6AM fbg has dropped to 4.9
Our outing to Hardwick Inn on Saturday was very enjoyable and the meal was excellent but when it was time to leave after sitting for several hours I could hardly walk so Ade had to fetch the wheelchair from the car.
Ade has returned to Oxford and will be travelling over to Ireland again in the next couple of weeks so we may not see him again till August or thereabouts.
The nurse expertly administered the vaccine. So expertly that I actually wondered if she had really vaccinated me as I didn't feel the needle going in. So I was really pleased that my arm was very sore a few hours later as it proved she had vaccinated me.Sunday's FBG 4.6 mmol on waking at 6.00 am.
I would have thought generalised symptoms like tiredness were either due to post-vaccine side effects or, depending on the timing, simply coincidence.
Localised soreness at the vaccination site (usually the deltoid muscle in the upper arm) could be a side effect of the vaccine or due to the technique (or lack thereof) of the vaccinator! The number of sore arms reported suggests the former is likely, especially if you have a past history of swelling or rash following vaccinations.
As you say, we have no way of knowing.
Good news on the dentist, especially the catch up with ex-students. Not so good about Move More class. I had never heard of geographic tongue before.Just back from the dentist. My remaining teeth are in fine fettle, apparently but he did grind down some sharp edges on my lower front teeth which have been causing trouble for my tongue. Also tells me I have "geographic tongue". I've heard of it and did wonder. Nothng to be done about it though, it will flare up from time to time and then go away when it feels like it. Advice - don't use mouthwash, it just makes it worse. Use salt water if I must but always before brushing, not after. Come back in a year. Surprisingly, I didn't have to pay for it.
Also gave me a chance to have a happy conversation with 2 of my ex students working in reception there. They were very flattering about my influence on them. They reckon that the education currently on offer at the college is nothing like as good as theirs was. I'd heard that before. Such a shame. My specialty was helping those who had had a bad school experience to be able to get onto the learning wagon again. That no longer happens.
The Move More class no longer happens either - last one today. Kirsty's contract hasn't been renewed because, it seems that, Zoom classes are no longer needed now that the pandemic is over.
Q'pla.Well, the Klingons were on the starboard bow.
You could have crawled back if the beer and food has that effect!!!!!!When I woke up at 5AM was 6.3 but now at 6AM fbg has dropped to 4.9
