What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

5.5 this lovely sunny morning.
Had a brilliant couple of days. Have done loads of admin and other stuff. Have answered about 40 emails from class members who want to swap classes or take holidays. It is a bit like musical chairs at the moment.

Very happy that I have also done our Tax self assessment paperwork. It didn't take as long as I thought it would.

We have decided to have a more relaxing day and just walk around the green spaces around our village.

I will have more time to look through training videos and do lesson planning. Really lovely feeling to be up to date and organised before starting back to work tomorrow.
 
Sad to be forced into a move you don't want to make, but it does open up new possibilities for changes to your lifestyle which you may enjoy. Would you be able to find a place in town that has at least some of the more enjoyable elements of where you are now?

Morning all on what looks like a reasonable impersonation of almost summer in L.A. Probably only need 3 layers today. @gennepher thank you for sharing the creatives yesterday and today. @dunelm thank you for sharing today's art. @jjraak have a wonderful time. @JohnEGreen good news on finally picking up the new car. @lindisfel have a great 85th birthday on Friday - June babies are a special breed. The move will obviously be emotional but you seem to have thought and prayed this through. There are plenty of biblical examples of moves which work out well. God bless you both. 06.00 today BG was 5.7, then 6.3, then 6.9. Still in the 6's until I had an apple for my lunch and now it's 7.2.

Ordered a DNA test kit from Ancestry yesterday, and signed up for 3 months. The site was working fine yesterday, but in the evening and today it isn't - just get an apology and "try again soon". There's a problem with it which I want to to try to sort out - more than one, in fact, which I think have been caused by people not being sure about their facts and just accepting hints which were wrong, and these have been proliferated throughout the site. People will insist of having the same names in generations of families, so they end up with cousins holding the same names, born at the same time roughly - leads to confusion.

#7 birthday and I'm off for no cake.
Going bowling, well the kids and near kids are.
Can't get my arthritic fingers in holes!

Yes that is true of Ancestry I was lucky when I first started there were several people researching the same families and their trees mirror my own .
On Ancestry DNA I have over 17 thousand matches many of whom have public trees That I can look at as well still unable to track down my paternal grandfather he still remains a mystery.
 
First of all, apologies to all for not answering the posts. Been a really busy day.
after birthday duties, kitchen duties, Mrs L duties, who had another fall, when I turned my back, she stood up without support, pulled curtains off rail, so I had to fix that and check Mrs L over. Behave you lot!
Mrs L is ok.
On the other hand, Mrs L has been chatting away about nothing sensible or English I think, at one point it was complete gibberish with a Scouse accent, or it could have been Polish!I

Bumped into two old work colleagues, one from car factory and one from football club.
it was really good to catch up.

I'm so tired after watering and tidying the garden in the evening light. Still cold tho.

Must wish a happy birthday to me ol mucker Derek for Friday.
And best wishes to those suffering or just as bad going abroad.

I woke up this morning thinking about your situation @lindisfel. I hope you don't mind.

Someone made a suggestion a day or so ago, but look as I may I cannot find the post but I am sure it was @jjraak who suggested there are mobility scooters you would be able to use.

Many are pavement scooters in case you had not particularly come across them before. They do up to 4mph, Some can get 2 people on. This would retain your independence for local shopping and local facilities if you get one with a long battery range. The range of my scooter is 25 miles. It is a pavement scooter and does the max speed of 4mph. I can take it into a supermarket, but not a small local shop, the aisles are not wide enough, and then I leave it parked outside. But I always only assume 12miles for safety to make sure I can get back home...

There are some much smaller ones than mine (in which case you can get one each) which have a very good mileage range (up to 20 miles), and would be easier to get in and out of the house. But my bigger one is very difficult me lugging it up 2 steps and keeping it in the tiny kitchen.

Obviously I bought my bungalow before I got my scooter. With hindsight I would buy something next time which had better access points for getting a scooter in and out.

You need to make sure there is an easy access point to get to the scooter/s and keep/store it/them in, and for recharging purposes.

For example a conservatory would work (a conservatory would work for observing birds as well).

I just wanted to make these points for consideration.

By the way, I am considering getting a much smaller scooter for all the reasons mentioned above.

I hope you don't mind me suggesting all this.

Good morning everyone on what just might be another shorts and t shirt day here in the dark and dangerous north. Pretty restless night - up and down like a yo-yo in the world yo-yo competition. No point testing this morning as the meter may display something rude. Down onto the lower promenade quite early yesterday, before the crowds. Sat outside The Ship for a koffy, watching the surfers. The pub folk have now re-installed metal railings on top of the sea wall after getting the hint when spring tides demolished their nice new wooden fence a couple of times. It was metal railings for years before the pub was taken over by Green King last year and ‘done up’. Still 18thC on the outside but the inside now looks like the inside of any number of ghastly theme pubs. I have a cabbage to use up today so will sauté it with onion, garlic, chilli flakes and coriander and freeze in portions. We can re-heat, give it a squeeze of lime, top with some feta and pretend that we are in Corfu. Art bit, a gnarly bit of tree. Hope your day includes at lest two smiles. Best get some koffy on the go.

Morning all (kalimera to our travel correspondent) on a dull start to the week in L.A. Definitely not tee shirt and shorts weather for me but some brave/foolish souls have already donned that outfit. @dunelm thank you for sharing the art which puts me in mind of a creature from one of the animations beloved of my grandchildren. Although they need surreptitious hugs when they appear but don't tell their friends. @alf_Josiah hugs for you and Mrs A J. @Krystyna23040 I hope the diary secretary has scheduled some breaks. Cricket in New York to watch later. Quite a history to the game in the USA but allegedly fell out of vogue after the Civil War. Enjoy Monday especially if you have some good weather.
