What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Just looked up Achnasheen - looks like the Desolation of Smaug for the eyes of children.

Hope the rest of the day improves for you.

9.45am FBG 5.4 must have been all those games yesterday. Certainly wasn't the sausage in baguette or the chocolate brownie pudding.
A good time was had by all, except the 17 year old who refused to participate. The eventual winner after croquet tournament, egg and spoon race, wellie wanging and a top secret event, which created much speculation: "Pin the Thing on the Thing" was a lady who has lived in South Africa. She did sing the anthem - in two languages. Applause for bravery and skill.
Spent the evening in the greenhouse and garden. Repotting and tidying up. Must check on the robin who is nesting in the potting shed. Are there any babies hatched yet?
Really should be doing some cleaning in preparation for the royal visit... but there are weeds in the onion bed and potatoes need earthing up. Molehills to be collected...and it's dry at the moment, even if not sunny. Forecast is rain later.

Morning all from L.A. where, though it is by no means a proper summer's day, one can leave the door open and probably sit outside wearing only one fleece jacket for an outer layer. @gennepher thank you for sharing the magnificent creative but hug for #parkingate. Hospital parking space seems to be a national issue itself never mind the cost. @dunelm thank you for sharing the tree. This series of trees has made me aware of how artists see the natural world differently to myself. My first instinct when seeing trees is can one make money from the excess produce or for fuel? Both of which were the main concerns of people in my home area. Unusually, I feel it is time for some tea here. I do hope you can enjoy your Monday as far as circumstances permit.

Hug for all the hassle getting to that appointment. I hope it went well when you finally got there. Parking here is chaotic enough, but there it sounds absolutely horrendous. I think all new hospitals ought to be built with multi-storey car parks which are not run for the benefit of private companies. It's not as if people visiting hospitals really want to be there.

6.8 this Monday.

One of my 'pet' hates. Yes, a pun, but unintentionally serious point.
The media went over the top with the calf in London being on the loose and the police response.
How shocking it was!

A few miles away, not reported anywhere, was an accident involving a car and a family that were luckily taken to hospital. As was many other accounts of people having to use emergency services because of an accident as such.
It's is not often the media will report anything involving children and what happens to them.
Unless a politician can make a political point.

This is the country we live in, where an animal is significantly more important than shout and me.

If you ever want to know the difference in how we treat animals or children, more money goes into animal charities, more money is left in wills to animal charities, more money goes into animal insurance, more money goes into animal welfare than does children's charities.

It's a disgrace that there are 3 million children in poverty.
Wonder how different it would be, if it was cats or dogs?
You can if you are struggling to keep a pet, ask an animal charity to take the animal away!
The number of children in care is rising.
There aren't many charities around to help with this.
The government funding and resources have been hit hard with austerity.
Social care is in a mess.
The country is broken and the media and ministers are up in arms over a stray calf!
I think I'm going insane!

I'm taking it out on my grass later!
Still dry but no heat. Very cloudy.

My best wishes.

Well done @gennepher for finding a parking space. You definitely deserved a second breakfast.
What an absolute nightmare the parking is at the hospital.

Thank you @ianpspurs

Gave a hug...awful way to begin an appointment.

But giving a big WIN here for the way you dealt with it .

Starting to think your middle name is Granite, you stay so solid when life gets tough and others might start to crumble .

Respect @gennepher as always

Thank you @ianpspurs

Thanks very much @Annb

I was shattered when I got home.
Fell asleep a few hours.

It turned out to be a very lengthy, intense 3 hour appointment.
New people I had not seen before.
I had asked for someone different.
I had many serious concerns.
They were all addressed today, unlike the previous person who had ridden roughshod over my concerns the last 14 years. And told me I just had to get used to the settings.
The settings that this person had done made it intolerable to wear.
Today, remapping took place, but they were concerned. The top notes had been far too loud. We'll do the bottom notes next year so not to overload the brain. I know those bottom notes are too loud, but I'm thinking, I'm nearly 75, how long have I got, is the rest of my life going to be correcting this incorrect mapping?
So, I said No, not next year...do it now, I know those bottom notes are badly wrong, and said I'd told the previous audiologist many times, and written it down. But she'd simply said I would get used to it, and that it was correct.
So, they remapped the bottom notes. Looked at each other, then said the bottom notes had been far too loud.

There was a lot more stuff that was corrected or adjusted today. One of them was the magnet to hold the processor to my head. And that was far too strong. Today's audiologists said that strong magnet could have caused soreness on the head, headaches and many other things, and I told them I had all those ill effects with the strong magnet, and I had often needed painkillers for it, and that I had expressed all that and written it down for the previous audiologist but she had said that was one of those things that came with wearing the magnet and nothing could be done about that.
Today's audiologists fitted padded cushioning to the magnet, and said I was lucky I had not lost the implant with having such a strong magnet all this time. And that this should sort it.

My brain now has a lot to adjust to. I cannot make out much at all, this will take time to readjust. Music, I have lost again, it is meaningless mess. My brain needs to work it all out again.

I need to be very gentle and kind to myself for the next few weeks.

All in all, this was a very successful appointment....

The lucky recipients of your postcards will treasure them always @gennepherI'm sure.
