What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

A lot of people were wearing masks here when I went to the shops this morning. I cannot wear them because of my asthma, I cannot breathe in them @Lamont D
I thought it was a bit ridiculous, however, when a group of three women came out of the shop took their masks down and proceeded to have a chinwag for the next 3/4 of an hour (with their masks now under their chins) all within a couple of feet of each other... I did three separate shops in the time they had their chinwag and they were still chinwagging when I left...
I am not a fan (sorry) of wagging chins!

Hi mate,
it is worrisome how quickly this sort of thing happens. I remember Mrs L, being herself, only a couple of years ago.
If it is diagnosed, there is plenty of things that can help and slow the deterioration.
And there are things you can do yourself such as being here with us, helping us poor heathens with our issues.
Playing puzzle games, crosswords or even doing some manual stuff, like I do with my garden, bloody slugs!
I know myself, that my own memory needs a jog, and sometimes, I just can't remember some details. Then ten minutes later, it will come to me.
Get the help you need, it is there!
I hope you do.

Do look after yourself, mate.
All my best wishes Derek.
Of course you are worried, but try to stay calm. You have had some good advice. Progressive deterioration is usually slow. Cognitive impairment is relative. My father went to the doctor saying he was losing his mind. Doctor asked why did he think that?
Dad: " I can't do logarithms in my head anymore."
Dr: laughs " most people can't either '
Dad was in his fifties. He did start having some difficulties early in his eighties.
Just do the best you can. Nobody can do more.

Today someone pushed a load of garbage through my letterbox campaign leaflets one for reform ltd and the other for a so called independent candidate the leader of the local council who with along with 5 of his cronies was recently arrested on 12 different counts of fraud and misuse of his public office this meant I had to leave the house and cross the road to deposit them in a public wastebasket as I could not put them in my household waste bin It would be an insult to the good honest waste in my bin. Crossing the road on foot was very painful but just had to be done.
My heart sank reading this post. Garbage though the letterbox. That's bullying, victimisation.. awful. Your explanation helped for a moment, then I am outraged all over again at the behaviour of some politicians. How do they get away with it?

Thanks @SlimLizzy
You are right, I often ask myself if I'm going mad or losing it?
then again, I know I have!

Honestly, with mental issues myself, and being there for Mrs L, will gradually wear me down.
And I have asked my family to take some of the weight off me.
However, as always, I'm the only one that really answers her, cos I'm the one Mrs L asks.
And won't ask anyone else at all
The latest questions are from Mrs L 's dreams, and usually have nothing to do with the present, and even after explanations or avoidance, or a yes dear! It is niggling away.
I will admit, that I sometimes need a break from it all. But as usual, how can I ?
Any free time is in the garden or in the kitchen or a small amount of time on here.
Shopping I avoid, but no choice, everyday for fresh stuff or cleaning stuff etc.
A quick walk on the grass behind, while Mrs L has a nap.
We have a saying.....
Yeah, that is my name.....
Don't wear it out!
I'm not built for it all.
I'm sorry to admit it, but I'm being truthful.
I try and it's not depression doing this.
Its my life.

6.5 this 30 degreeer.
but I do have a slight cooling breeze across the footie pitches.
sitting in shade and the fans, windows and doors wedged open.
fans! Do not mention the footie!

I am still feeling fatigued even tho I do have very good energy levels. A bit of cramp at 6.30 that woke me, then the recycling bin men along with the guys in the trenches outside woke me up again. I had to have a cuppa.
have taken more salt.

Mrs L demanded bed rest for today, even tho, I offered a day out. Ah well, never mind.
finished another book this dinnertime, the latest Angela Marsden, crime novel. Very good.
back to Jodi Taylor's time police newby, to start.

slugs are giving me a hard time in my front garden.
I have no idea what to do. I watered the plants before sundown, as you should And I moved four of them and a couple of snails. Frustration setting in.

I think I might treat you to my new project, that I mentioned a couple of months ago.
But Mrs L is in need to afternoon tea.

Stay cool you lot.
Best wishes you lot.
Enjoy the heat if you can.
This is your summer. This is it!
Slugs and snails have been terrible this year. Shifting to watering early in the morning has helped a little. Good luck in the fight against the evening hordes.

Predictive text strikes again.
Ravening hordes.

Morning all from L.A. where it is difficult to determine what season this is now the budget for a few days of summer has been spent as, perhaps, another part of the obtuse scorched earth retreat policy currently playing out. @dunelm thank you for the clever critique of Southgate's troops without one mention of No 2s and thanks for sharing the developing structure. @gennepher hug for blisters and aspiration issue. I am constantly amazed by your resilience and resourcefulness. Thank you for sharing the creative. @Krystyna23040 huge congratulations on 7 years without insulin. @Annb hug for the current bug whatever it may be. @lindisfel stay safe and strong in the faith my friend. The focus here is to stay as still as possible so that all the dressings stay on and hanging in there as there isn’t any sport I follow today - lawng day ahead but I'm still here. Enjoy your Friday as much as possible. Peace be with you all.
Thank you @ianpspurs

Fbg 6.7

Just putting the wheelie and recycle bags etc out earlier finished me off...that is my lot for the day...I don't envy those bin men in this weather. Some stupid people were complaining online that yesterday their wheelies and recycle were not collected until 9pm. Good grief....

Afraid I'm way behind with posting. Thank you for sharing another enchanting creative @gennepher.

So their wheelie bins and recycle materials were not collected until 9pm?
Good grief. Must lead impoverished lives

Frtday's FBG, 4.5 mmol on waking at 6.00 am.

5.3 today. Am really happy to be in either the 5s or 6s first thing in the morning. It is now 7 years with no insulin. How time flies.

Yesterday was a lovely day and although I got lots done I had loads of time to relax and read and drink rather too much coffee.
Congratulations and happy 7th anniversary - excellent.

Good morning everyone from the blistering heat of the morning here in the desolation of Smaug. Get ready for a hose pipe ban. Ankles will already be discussing the exact time to swell up and I thought that they had enjoyed stomping round in the relative shade of an arboretum yesterday contributing to the taking of photos of potential subjects for future ink sketches. Some trees had been queuing for quite a while for a photo opportunity - especially the redwoods. Art bit, some more added. This will take some time but it calms the mind until my fingers begin to complain. Always some body part whining and moaning about something. Just keep quiet if you have nothing positive to contribute, the rest of the parts are still enjoying dancing round the Maypole. I think it may be Saturday but whatever it may be, have a splendid day. I am going to source some koffy - and then some shade.

7.0 at 05.20 today. Slept later than usual again today.

Cold, wet and windy again. We did have one day of summer a few weeks ago when the temperature rose to about 20C but that was it. Midsummer has been and gone now but maybe we can expect some improvement. It does happen from time to time that we get some heat around September.

We actually do have some roses flowering at last and some catkins on the dwarf willow by the front gate. Those are usually enjoyed by bumble bees, but I haven't seen any of those yet either. There are also some flowers on the veronicas and a few on the fuchsia, so it's brightened up a bit out there. The foxgloves have been blown apart though and those roses are looking rather battered.

I'm glad we have our heating working.
