Sounds like a good idea. It's unusual for me not to be able to get to sleep. Staying asleep is another matter, of course. Anyhow, I finally conked out at about 10.30 and slept for about 3/4 of an hour. Feeling much refreshed now.@Annb Thank you for your kind words and maybe you could try this trick to stop churning thoughts. It does work sometimes. Try to think of random, non associated words.
Harder than it seems at first.
Eg: horse stable not allowed
Horse hotel not allowed
Horse cucumber ok
Hope this helps.
I'm full of admiration for your determination to use your baking gifts for the benefit of others however difficult your own circumtances. I hope you have a wonderful time with the family you are visiting and they appreciate the gift you are taking. Some very caring and sharing people on here, very humbling.BG was 9.2 when I gave up on getting to sleep at 01.30. Came through to the kitchen, typed up some of the thoughts that had been whirling around in what passes for my brain these days, took some paracetemol to ease the joints a bit, had some warm milk, went back to bed. Surely to sleep this time, but no. Gave up again at 03.30, came back to the kitchen, tea, watch TV (that usually puts me to sleep but not this time), little jobs around the place and eventually breakfast at about 08.15. BG still in the 7's. Insulin to cover pea, spinach and lettuce stew with 2 eggs poached in it. Did some cooking (ratatouille and cut up some experimental halva that I made before my arthritis hit to take to the family I am visiting this afternoon and packed it in a container). Now there are dishes and pans to be washed and I'm beginning to feel dozey. Typical! There's probably time to have a short sleep before getting ready to go out.
My main concern, not worry.Agreed, bruised is better, but still painful and total recovery is still about three weeks. Will have to tell grandchildren to hug gently.
My problem with preparing for house viewings is that the first was unscheduled- "can we come in twenty minutes?" Leaving me feeling a bit paranoid, could this happen again?
So small messes that would normally be ignored are now pressure points.
Have been on a marathon weeding session. Only about two metres left to finish weeding the entire drive. Of course it won't stay weed free for more than two days, but I can enjoy it looking clear for the first time since forever.
I do appreciate that my worries and concerns are small potatoes compared to many others here.
What do you think us lot are?If we all do 10,000 steps each day, drink olive oil and consume Barberry, ginseng, bitter melon, ginger, cinnamon from Ceylon, sage leaves and eat Waitrose salmon, 30 mixed seeds, pulses and wild partridge feathers - will the benefits outweigh the cost or is it all tax deductible?
In my seventy years.Yes for us marching out of married quarters involved the SWO and a pair of white gloves God help you if there was a speck of dust any where even down the back of the toilet cistern.
I think in the time we’ve been married Judith and I have moved house about 15 to 20 times. We have led a rather nomadic life.
I like that!Frankly my dear, I've come back to my original opinion on the healthy eating/wellbeing front that it is almost certainly all a load of cahones. Matthew 6 :27. Elsie Keto has made me quite (well more) cynical - cui bono? I appreciate the variety of opinions and ways of handling the lifestyle conundrum here but the most parsimonious summary seems to be you do you - (just don't harm anyone else in the process) You can't take it with you so spend it on what floats yer boat - even if that's sausages or, God forbid, black pudding
fruit is different in how the glucose is derived. My mother has type2
I cringe at her breakfasts;
Sliced banana with grapes/ strawberries.
Although she eats very little bread, rice or potatoes and never pasta. That is as far as she will go on LC.
Wonderful to read of a joyful surprise for you both. Delighted for you and Mrs A J. Take it easy my good man.Good Afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen and a loverly bright one it is.
Blood Sugars this morning were 5.3 .
A pleasant tale to tell.
Last Wednesday evening at about 6:00 pm Mrs J received a phone call from her cousin and his wife who live in British Columbia, Canada. They were in Wales and asked if they could come to Tilehurst Towers, stay over night, Thursday, returning to Wales on Friday afternoon. They fly back to Canada this coming Wednesday.
Mrs J said yes to them coming and staying overnight.
This necessitated a bed to be made, a massive change of the plans Mrs J had made for Thursday evening and multiple phone calls to her local family telling them that the Canadian family would be here and come to Tilehurst Towers food and beverages would be provided along with much laughter, merriment and tales being told.
Hence early national bin day morning Mrs J accompanied by me, me’s and myself were in the local Tesco’s at 8:15 am stocking up for our hastily rearranged menus. Provisions dealt with our day could proceed as planned with the Canadian family not expected between 4 and 5 pm……
Hence we met up with some friends for lunch at the local café. Guess who arrived early? Yep. Finding us not at home, they parked up and walked to the local cafe intending to have a koffy and wait for us to return.
They surprised Mrs J by sneaking up on her, cry’s of delight introductions were made with them joining us for lunch.
The Canadians finally left at 1:00pm today Friday and are now stuck in horrendous traffic on the M4 heading back to deepest Wales, where they live in Canada the traffic density is minimal and the population count is probably 1 person per square mile.
Mrs J’s plans for Thursday night have been rearranged for Saturday night.
It’s nice that they know they have a bed here when they need it and have stayed on a few occasions.
Sorry for the long posting, but it’s nice to write about a pleasant time.
Probably back to normal tomorrow.

Another captivating video. Your badgers always look busy @gennepher. I suppose nights are shorter at this time of year, so less time to forage for things to eat before day breaks.Fbg 6.8
All stray cats and birds (magpies and pigeons included) disappeared with the heat yesterday, 29C. Midnight disappeared all day as well. He emerged at sunset. Came to bed with me and hogged my fans and misters. This morning I woke up early, my round the neck fan seemed to have stopped working.
Battery run out?
No.
Just Midnight hogging the fan with his nose right over the fan...
