What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good to hear from you Derek. I hope you and Marjorie are keeping as well as possible. That reminded me of images from times past - attached. Taken from this piece - gentler times (Cuban crisis notwithstanding) one feels. Not better or fairer and materially so much worse for many despite you've never had it so good - no quinoa , kefir or gaucamole, smart or dumbphones, I didn't even have Sky in my bedroom :playful: - but less "edge." Most here will be able to wander down memory lane via that image and the article. He nailed the, I imagine to him vulgar/common, Grocer's daughter (good man) and one imagines he would have excoriated Johnson.
This year, 2024, will see many important elections taking place around the world and, while political rule by patricians motivated by noblesse oblige has had its day, modern politicians could learn a lot from this man born in 1894, notably how to conduct themselves with dignity and authority. Some hope.
It is Harold Macmillan, isn't it? He doesn't look quite as I remember him, but I often get mixed up between Macmillan and Eden. In that picture he doesn't look like either of them to me.

Ah I looked at the picture first and then read the article. Those were gentler days for most. Maybe just because I was young then.

Planning lunch out with son3, arriving late tonight, texted daughter for return time tomorrow. Swift reply. Arriving TODAY. Oops. Better sort out some dinner then. Lunch out tomorrow abandoned. Venue not suitable for children.
Most of the courgette chutney jars have sealed. Just a couple to reheat and repot.
MrSlim mentioned intent to do the strimming. I vetoed it and he agreed that possibly not a good idea. With the Olympics finished he is at a bit.of a loose end. Plenty of active things to do. Not so many light or sedentary occupations

App promises another scorcher this afternoon...
Am slowly flaking out here...

Nighttime wildlife video
Badger & Fox mooching around

Creative...black ink painting using fingers...and Kuratake brushes and pens.

Have your best kind of day

Hug for slowly flaking out with the hottest part of the day and presumably an uncomfortable night still to come. Despite that you still shared a creative for a podium finish. Lots in that creative so I've tried to enlarge it to give proper appreciation and due credit. Keep as cool as possible.

Definitely MacMillan, later Earl of Stockton. Eden's brand was, shall we say, mixed. Rab wasn't too sure if this is accurate - the image wasn't there

Such a shame but so brave of the family to be open. Cancer elicits sympathy and charity collections/doantions but there is still a stigma around mental health. Fortunately sports people seem to be leading the way in changing attitudes so I hope and pray this tragic story helps change attitudes and saves lives.

Hug for the disturbed sleep and possibly/probably? for #anklegate later. Thank you for sharing today's splendid example of your artistic gifts. I like the autumnal colours in that piece and autumnal colours generally. I don't like the cooler weather, never really did, all those ridiculous layers of clothing, shorter days, darker evening and nights ; an all too visible reminder of our mortality. Previously I consoled myself with food which is far too high carb for Elsie Keto. There's a reason adaptation and abomination are spelled differently.
Thank you @ianpspurs - ankles have had a talk about showing off but they never listen and sit aloof atop my feet, waiting.

Thanks very much @ianpspurs
It is a better attempt than yesterday...
Thank you for the compliments.....
I will...

Too much wheat for me!
Lots of industrial ingredients in this, probably tastes like cardboard. Ha!
Interesting:
‘Generally speaking, calcium propionate is safe with little to no side effects. In rare situations, it may cause adverse effects, such as headaches and migraines ( 9 ). One human study linked propionate intake to the increased production of insulin and glucagon, a hormone that stimulates glucose (sugar) release’
So that must be wonderful :singing::):bag::bigtears::bookworm::dead::depressed:

I produce too much insulin when my intolerance to certain foods.
It is the last thing I need is more insulin and glucagon.
And some of my symptoms are as you describe and I do have the occasional migraine.
Interestingly, the first symptom get when my BG levels are too high is a headache behind my eyes, and then blurred vision.
