What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Thank you @Krystyna23040
You can. I agree. I love and hate it in equal measures...h
But technology gives you a reach, from home even, that you could never have before.
And a reach to abroad where communication takes microseconds, literally.
Yes, you are right @ - it is so good to have technology like WhatsApp and Zoom to help us stay in touch with daughter and family in Canada.

I forgot to say this morning that your method of downing the tablespoon of olive oil really worked.

Ah, I have apple cider vinegar to hand!
And I have organic garlic powder @LivingLightly
Great @gennepher. You're ready to roll. Added to a tablespoon of EVOO, this will make a lovely salad dressing in seconds and of course you can ring the changes using different culinary herbs.

Home-made condiments are far superior to any you can buy, IMO. Commercial salad dressings contain too much sugar, excess salt and unnecessary additives and preservatives.

Bon appétit!

Just after 8.00 m this morning, a fox cub came bounding up the garden path and I watched it drink from the bird bath I'd placed at ground level with hedgehogs in mind.

It was the first fox sighting for some time, although I've heard them having the time of their lives overnight. They like to make tunnels in the vegetation and chase their siblings through the undergrowth.

although I urgently need a Food Fairy.
Do you play cricket and rugby in Surrey and are you considered somewhat of a project/challenge? They're picky - you don't find them, they find you :playful: Anyhow, you have Mr K who is likely a Michelin starred chef on the QT considering his all round talents.

Bad night, bad start to the day and BG somewhere around 13! About 30 or 40 minutes sleep last night, in 10 minute stretches. Gave up about 02.30 and just about made it through to the kitchen where my painkillers are kept by 03.10. Trouble was another flare up of the arthritis - in my hands, arms and feet. All swollen and very sore - like an abscessed tooth, but in my hands. I'd left my little hand-held alarm in the kitchen by mistake and I was very wary that I would fall and have no means of alerting Neil. That's why so slow. Got there though and made it to the tea/coffee "station" where my pills are also kept. They finally eased the situation after about 3 hours and then stopped working at 4 hours. I'll have to make my way across the kitchen now to take some more.

I used yesterday's needle for my basal insulin because I couldn't get a new one out of the plastic packet. Still reasonably sharp though, so it's OK. On top of that, my Libre sensor seems to have fallen off. No worries, I have a replacement but I can't get the plastic packaging off that either, so I'll have to wait for Neil to reappear. Hands are too sore to be able to use the finger pricker to test.

I'm using the keyboard to try to get my fingers moving. It hurts, but they are beginning to loosen up. Oh dear, this 80th year of mine isn't going well!

Hugs for that awful night and terrible start to the day. Thoughts and prayers with you for relief of pain and increased movement in hands, arms and feet. Anything to do with yesterday's exertion? Take care.

Fbg 6.5

Mr Badger been round in the night.
Upended my plant pots, helped himself to the roots.
Tried to get the bin lids off, failed because of my Fort Knox arrangement.
So, instead Mr Badger climbed on one of my bins to climb on something else and dragged my hanging basket to the ground, and demolished it.
So bang goes my idea of my hanging gardens of Babylon as an idea for my vegetable garden next year...
I haven't looked at the rest of my garden yet, but I can see a collection of plastic plant pots in one corner....

Kaleider Kaleidoscope
Daffodils again, but this Kaleidoscope picked up more of the curtain behind it. The colours are right, but the actual design on this curtain is squares and rectangles.

Fine here for the moment, but app promises rain, so had better see what else that badger has done...

Have your best day...

I hope things improve quickly xx

Hug for the continued imposition upon your love of wildlife and plants from the unruly badgers but winner for the kaleidoscope. You may not have mastered everything kaleider has to offer but you can, as they say, certainly get a tune out of it.

Mr K is a really good chef. I was a really good cook but when Mr K took up cooking he took it to another level.
The girls still are amazed by this because he was a rubbish chef when they were younger. I was away one weekend and I thought he couldn't go wrong with mini pizzas for the girls as he just had to heat then up for a minute and a half each in the microwave.

He decided that they needed 10 minutes each instead. The girls begged me never to go away again because they were like frisbees.

But when he retired he started watching Saturday Kitchen and became really interested in cooking - and has never looked back.

Good morning all. fbs was 8.7 at 8AM. A little higher than usual but not sure why. Abdominal scan completed on Sunday. Early morning appointment meant easy parking, no waiting and I was able to eat breakfast shortly afterwards. (I treated myself to egg and mushrooms at the hospital before taking medication so all well.) Just got to wait for results. Best wishes to you all especially those who are struggling with pain, badger attacks etc.

Hope the flare up settles really quickly and you start feeling a lot better very soon @Annb.
Really good to use the keyboard to get the fingers moving to get the fascia to move and rehydrate as inflammation causes it to dehydrate which results in more pain.

Thanks for the kind thoughts, Ian. Very likely it is all due to yesterday's exertion, which included rubbing the skins off some peanuts Neil had bought with skins on, in error. I toasted them in a hot oven for 5 minutes and when they were cool, rubbed the skins off. They didn't come off as easily as I had hoped and it came down to picking up each peanut and rubbing it between my fingers. I didn't do all of them by any means and there are a lot still waiting to finish off - that won't be for a while though. Also, of course, the little bit of walking I did probably made my feet swell. That's life, I'm afraid. Shouldn't complain though. I still do, of course. Just letting off steam really to deal with the frustrations.

Not so good Morening here in Tilehurst Towers, I got shouted at by Mrs J to do something or other NOW when I doing something else at the time……… the dog house is rather comfortable.

Blood sugars this morning were 6.3

Apparently Mrs J is talking at me, not to or too me, but at me……My listening mode is turned off.

I think I shall go and stare at my motorcycle thinking about all the good times we have had while Mrs J calms down, Mrs J is of Welsh Irish extraction so it is highly possible Mrs J will sing me to death while beating me to death…..

That isn't complaining it is describing your circumstances as dispassionately as can be. We, well certainly I, would bet the farm that you are in more pain and find things more difficult than you will ever let on here. I have no doubt that should Neal, Alistair or DIL give their honest account of your situation we'd be even more awestruck by what you tolerate in order to do all you do for others.
