Thanks. I did try some hanging baskets shortly before the worms were stolen...but the badger climbed on something and pulled them down.
No suitable wall for fixing hanging baskets...but then there is the problem of me reaching them...
I did have the idea of using some rose arches for putting the hanging baskets on them. I've had them a few years. Not assembled them yet @Annb
I haven't given up yet....

I have not seen orange boxes for years @dunelm
I used them when the kids were little - couldn't afford bedroom furniture then...
I doubt orange boxes are made as well as they used to be...
All the independent fruit & veg shops round here have closed down since Covid and lockdowns... am racking my brains where I might find something like that....

On a sadder note. In the TNG series, the actor who played Worfs brother, Kern. Died yesterday.

No fbg, far too busy for the Lamont clan to descend.
And they did.
It was great to go the match with the grandkids bar #3 & #8 plus two of my lads, the daughter and DiL, and more importantly #8 looked after Nanny for me. And we won.
Mrs L looks all the better for it. Tho she is tired.

#4 is on duty at the local commemorative service in the morning.

Good morning everyone from another day in paradise here in the dark and dangerous north. Today I will put my best polished shoes on and dig out a tie. We will be walking down to the town memorial to participate in an act of remembrance. After, a nearby club that we are members of will be opening their doors and generously providing a buffet lunch. Art bit, boats. Hope your day is a peaceful one. I had better make some Koffy.

Today is a day of remembrance for those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country among the fallen my grandfather several cousins and an uncle or two.
If a mange to make it to a commemorative service I may wear mine and my fathers medals I can wear my fathers DSM mine is just the Northern Island command medal.

Woke just after seven, intended to get up, but fell asleep again. Must have been a really deep sleep because I slept through three alarms intended to get me up by 8.30am. Finally woken by message alert @ 10.42am. Kiki is not impressed with late breakfast

I have a little robin who follows me everywhere, either in front garden or back, and sits next to me on the swing, and sings sweetly to me.
Cat Midnight says, I hate that robin (Midnight has never ever been interested in birds before, but hates that robin with a passion when it sings to me).
And leaps up the trees, but it is more like Midnight hauling his bulky body inch by inch up the tree. And by this time the robin is back sitting with me...
I leave some mealy worms on the bird table for that sweet little robin before I come in...

A day to remember all those who sacrificed life and limb in the service of their country. I think my family have been very lucky in that our young men had adventures enough but all survived - at least, those that I know about. Many, of course, did not, or some, having survived, had suffered horrific injuries which affected the rest of their lives - both physical and mental. Mankind can be so altruistic at times, but so inhumane at other times.

I have a really lovely image of a wreath of poppies that I wanted to put in here, but can't get it to work.

So - now that it is November, I will think about Christmas. Not the actual event, but the present part of it. I have come to the conclusion that I have absolutely no idea what anybody would like to receive so, unimaginative as it seems, all the over 14's will be given cash to buy, or contribute to, whatever they would like to have. That still leaves the younger ones - Em at 12 is the oldest of that group - so they are still a problem but I am hoping for some advice, pretty soon, from parents.

For myself, I don't get very festive and I don't want gifts, though I know I will receive them, and appreciate the thought that has gone into them. I will, very happily, mark the occasion, but not with decorations around the house or masses of food. I'm not a killjoy and love to see everyone else enjoying the festival but prefer my Christmas to be quietly reflective.

I have ordered lots of stuff from Amazon for the Christmas "lucky dip" that I make up every year for the family get together but this year it is less small child oriented and more adult and teen oriented - and I've gone a bit more upmarket because now the younger ones have more sophisticated tastes. Makes me wonder if I'll still be around to make up another one next year. I hope so - still so much to do. Two books on the go now. Probably not a good idea to be trying to write two at once, but the idea for the second one came to me out of the blue and I had to make a start on that while I had the inspiration. It may be a fairly slim volume anyway, so I might get it done.

7.8 after breakfast this morning.

We had such a lovely evening with our friends yesterday. The meal was so delicious.

Am back on the straight and narrow today.
Will be relaxing with a coffee as soon as the coffee machine finishes descaling.

Thank you to all those here who served in the armed forces and especially all those who we remember today. As someone who has never served and hasn't lost relatives, colleagues or friends I'm looking in on the deep grief of others and any words I offer risk just seeming crass however sincere.

No disappointment or fake smiles over the one thing they'd never have bought or worn.

Me & a few mates had a holiday one year to skip Christmas here .

We decided to do similar but in a more blokey way .

Limit was £10 BUT it had to relate to the individual on a personal level (aka banter)

Best one was my ginger Scottish mate got a pair of tights...

So he could 'pretend' he had a suntan....

Another 6.8 this day of remembrance.
I have my dad's medals from the war and photos.
My dad suffered because of the war, and like many, I wouldn't be here, if he had died in Burma.dad
And he was fortunate to do so.
Those that survived, only did so because so many died.

I did mention my granddaughter on duty this morning and so proud of the photo my eldest sent me already.


As I know from experience, my childhood, it was in my face to what happened on the home front.
My mum was first a clippy in Yorkie land. Then worked in a munitions factory in the capital.
she stayed with my dad's family in the Portobello road area.
A number of relatives from my dad's side, was caught in the bombing there.
Around the peninsula, river and docks, as well as some residential areas, got absolutely pounded.
My house was standing on its own. And bomb sites were everywhere.
The rebuilding, took decades, but you can still signs of it in places.

Woke up to bright blue sky, and as I took my first few steps in the sun, it started raining, and has not stopped since, very cloudy and gone cooler. Again it was warmer at midnight than midday!!!!!!

A quiet day of chores, still might need to go the shop for a few bits, if they have want I want.
Darts, footie, cricket from last night to catch up with.
Rubbing Salt into the wound of the windies.

Kitchen duties to get through, have yourself a respectful Sunday.

Oh yeah, I've lost hearing in my right ear, some up with it. No reason or health concern to explain,

I use the forum app on my phone .

As I said in previous posts in sizing pics.

I find the picture I want, then screenshot it on phone

I wonder if you do the same on pc or laptop if it works the same way ...mmmhh. Must check later .

Then I simply add THAT screenshot to my post.

Not the most intense of pixel quality but way more than sufficient for sharing a moment on the web or a forum .

Good luck making it work somehow .
