Thank you for the good wishes for our granddaughter. Last report was that she needed a little more oxygen and JKP and #1 son were crossing Cambs to collect then take her and her dad clothes and essentials. Hopefully they are taking the main roads not our usual Fen road route with huge sugar beet harvesting machines and 50 foot drains. Has your water problem been resolved?I think I must have "liked" your post before I saw the end note about your granddaughter. Sorry to hear that she's been sick and hope she makes a full recovery very quickly. Children do - it's us oldies (APs as Tom used to call our previous generations - Ancient People); us oldies who take a while to make any impact on a recovery programme.

But I am looking at a letter that came yesterday from Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. It tells me I have an appointment at my home one morning in January next year with a continence nurse. I have never asked for a home appointment. The appointments always has been at the health Centre. And this is what I prefer.
The letter is badly written, it has been cobbled on top of a previous letter prior to 2020. It actually didn't quite make sense.
The letter tells me to record all fluid intake for a few days before this woman arrives and all fluid ejected from the body as a result of that intake. I have to measure it in millimetres. It tells me that she is going to examine my medicines to see if they are right for me, and she's going to examine my food intake. She wants to know what I'm eating.
And more. I need a water sample taking early in the morning for her and I also have to make sure that I have a full bladder for when she arrives to the appointment. I can't see that going too well for me. She has asked me to provide facilities for her to wash her hands with soap, and paper towels to dry her hands. And to lock up any pets in another room.
This is a sudden shift for me from walking into my Health Centre appointment with the now continence nurse, and the nurse saying, Hi is everything okay, no we don't need your water sample, and I say yes and she says okay bye-bye you can have your pads for another year.
Either they have pulled their socks up about the inadequate system/checking service they have provided for the last so many years, or else there is a bit more to this a bit more to this.
I am afraid I don't wholy trust it. As I said it is actually not explanatory enough for someone who has not been asked to do this kind stuff in preparation for the nurse beforehand. I only know what I should do with this because of the brilliant continent nurse I had many many years ago.
Anyway, I have time to think about it....
As usual, there is no alternative contact number apart from a telephone number. No email address either. I cannot write to her to warn her that I am deaf and I will need some extra consideration etc. That information to alternatively contact her is not on the letter and yes I can write, but I don't know that it would be getting to the correct actual department, because that information is not on the letter.
So this is another added stress for me.... and feeling more vulnerable because I may have a stranger in my home that I cannot lipread adequately or understand, and that I have not been able to give them warning before hand... I do not have someone I can ask to sit in with me.
Yes, it makes a huge difference @gennepher. I do a lot of twisting and turning to correct class members when they are on their mats and had been so careful not to twist the sprained ankle last week - until the Friday classes. I won't make that mistake again. It spasmed so painfully I couldn't put any weight on the foot.Yes @Krystyna23040
No sudden changes of foot direction.
It took me years to realize a lot of my ankle pain was due to just that. Because this bungalow is small and there are a lot of tight turns I tended to twist my ankle to slide on the floor on that spot to turn down the corner. One day when I went flying because of the pain and landed on the floor, for some reason I suddenly realized but it might be twisting my ankle that caused the sudden sharp agonising pain.
For some months now, I have been very careful not to do that slide twist motion with my ankle to go around a corner, or when I'm going outside when my doors open outwards, I tended to do it a lot then to keep my balance because I was going down a few steps. But in attempting to keep my balance away cause my ankle to being in agonising pain and a danger of me falling. I don't do that sliding shuffle anymore I have to make the effort to lift my foot off the ground and actually turn my leg. Maybe I have to do it a couple of times to get around that corner or to open the door, because I have to turn when I'm opening the door to the outside, because I am holding the door handle to keep my balance as I step down. All my outside doors open outwards....

You could try bicarbonate of soda drops for your ear, I know they can be very effective if the problem is a build up of wax.

I made some progress on the steroids and keto task, notably if I continue to use Chronometer I may need to use Americanisms as Swede and Pip and Nut crunchy PB have no potassium according to the/its database whereas Rutabaga and Peanut butter, plain unsalted do. Why does that matter? Prednisolone may cause water retention hence more weight. Which for me seems highly linked to BG control: your mileage may vary.The CUH (Cambridge University Hospital) App MyChart gives access to so much including all kinds of data from previous full blood tests in numbers and graphs which makes it very clear how the run up to Bullous Pemphigoid and meds to deal with that have impacted a rage of markers. That App is part of Epic which not all Trusts use, (cost I imagine) all my appointments are also scheduled there and I can message "the team" @gennepher hug for the new stress from that letter and the drowning yesterday - MyChart would obviously help there. Update: Just found out a different granddaughter is in hospital in Huntingdon with low oxygen, due to a virus.

I am, though, blessed to be able to choose the type and brand of tea I want, feed our dogs particular food, cod liver oil and free range eggs, sit here with them in the warm, drinking said tea, listening to my morning playlist. Hi @jamesbrook23Sounds like you had quite a marathon of a day! It’s always a bit of a juggling act when things pile up like that, especially with the weather making it more stressful. I can totally relate to the struggle of having to go out in less-than-ideal conditions just to get things sorted. At least you got your beef pasty, which sounds like the perfect reward after all that driving! It’s great that you managed to get everything done, even if it meant a much longer day than expected. Hopefully, tomorrow will be a bit more relaxed for you!
