What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

There's a thought!

Another hospital appointment came in the post today - another US liver scan, but not until 22 January. I've marked it on the calendar so that I don't forget.

It's a big calendar which sticks to the kitchen fridge door, held on with magnetic strips. Neil makes them for me (and for Alistair and my friend Mina) on A3 sheets - a month on each sheet. Plenty of space for writing in appointments and such and difficult to miss.

Pain in the back(side) or lower back is a central hub for the blood arteries and nervous system.
I have similar in my neck which is a pain in the ....!
The pain can be more prominent in such areas and is felt more in those areas.
The story of how acupuncture came about.
A soldier was hit with many arrows and he told the doctor, that one or two or more, he didn't feel until touched.
I have witnessed Mrs L, be in pain with her back, couldn't stand straight, and has banged her knee on a coffee table. The pain more of less transferred to the knee, and the back was ignored she limped, with a straight back!

You have a headache, you bang your hand, headache goes but your hand hurts!

Good Afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen.

Blood sugars this morning were 5.0

Yesterday’s hospital session was a good one with the hospital reinstating all my stopped medication taking into account the results from the mornings blood tests, effecient or what? Follow up tests are planned for next week.

Now here’s the contentious bit.
Mrs J likes her Christmas decorations especially if they are illuminated. As me, me’s and myself are not able to assist, read that as supervised, during her foraging expeditions, Mrs J is free to browse, chat and whatever Mrs J wants. Are you getting a clearer picture?

Mrs J returned from her foraging / hunting expedition this morning, proudly showing me, me’s and myself her latest acquisition, illuminated of course for the mantelpiece which is already groaning under the weight and photon bombardment of her existing ornaments. Words have been said, and I now know my place!

Mrs J has retired to the dining room to work on her latest masterpiece and has already been claimed by one of her fiends. This particular artwork is not to my taste, but art in whatever form is subjective, something to remember when offering opinions….by me!

It is now time to go and complete my allotted tasks.

Stay safe all.

I went to school with the daughter of a nature cure practitioner and his advice for curing a headache was to put a rubber band, tightly around a finger. Same principle.

Sounds as though you are home and having the time of your life Alfred. As Churchill may or may not have said, keep bu****ing on. Please pass on my/our sympathy to Mrs A J.

pain is subjective and can vary depending upon the situation. Introducing a second pain which may be perceived as greater than the first activates something called Conditioned Pain Modulation which inhibits the original pain. If it doesn’t work it may result in a chronic pain disorder.

That is really interesting @Lamont D . I also have loads of allergies. I also had horrid IBS for years and years.
Since eating this way the IBS completely disappeared and my allergies are less problematic.

I do agree that there is more **** now, than there ever has been

I'm certain there are many among us, that suffer from CPM, or a chronic pain disorder, from the suffering of our loved ones.
The pain is subjective.

And instead of planting more fresh food, the new fields of crops, are the ones that go into our food, that we know are definitely not good for a large proportion of the population.
And it's big food that is leading it.

Really good that MrSlim is back home. Hopefully you will find the perfect home very soon.

Yes, you are right @ianpspurs. Our bodies are interconnected through myofacial chains. It is so complex.

How we use our feet and legs can even cause problems as high as our neck and shoulders.

No one part of the body works in isolation.

Yes, that is so true. I was just 21 and had a splitting headache. I was barefoot and unfortunately caught my little for and broke it.

The headache magically instantly went away. Although I must admit there are better ways of getting rid of a headache.

in life, as in sport, you work on your weakness, to help with recovery.

Nighttime wildlife videos

This is two nights worth of video clips ...
This new Badger doesn't usually give enough footage for a 60 second video. So I ended up today, looking through two nights worth of 3 minute video clips - about 400 of them....my eyes are tired today!
Instagram

Same vid on TicTok

Creative is from a red oriental cover I have.
I had to use the Kaleider app because it didn't look anything in the Laboscope app

Tired now as it took too long to do this video...

Night night
Sweet dreams

Good morning everyone on a damp squib of a start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. Smashing reviews from yesterday’s nativity and at the same time one of the Ninky Nonks and Little Miss Pamplemouse were on stage at the Birmingham Hippodrome with their school choir for songs modern and old, even giving a good rendition of Carol of The Bells which they told me “is very fast”. It’s getting all ducky darlings. Best result is that all three performers bravely faced the lime lights and enjoyed the experiences. Hearing test today. Nothing untoward, Boots advertised that they are doing free hearing tests for the NHS so just taking the opportunity to test out my hearing. I already know that I have some height frequency damage but let’s wait and see. Art bit - we need more housing Angela, “with a pink hotel, a boutique, and a swinging hot spot”. May your day be satisfying - nothing from Holland and Barrett can extend the expiration date so I will make some delicious koffy and enjoy the damp day.

Neil's appointment in Raigmore was for a review of his Crohn's disease. From what he was told, his bowel is still in good condition despite the disease. We are sure that this is because he refused to take the medication offered and dealt with the condition himself using diet alone. A restricted diet, but it seems to work. The condition does flare up from time to time but it never causes the kind of damage that would lead to surgery. Like Lamont D, he also has loads of allergies and has to be very careful what he eats or is exposed to (eg smoke, dust, perfume, original Dettol, TCP, even lillies). It's a matter of getting to know what will cause a reaction and what will not.

Sitting here - all showered, light legged, and ready to go to get my legs bandaged again. Hoping Neil feels well enough to take me after having a day of rest. Cup of tea, I think and maybe some food. My new Libre sensor failed - again so I was depending on fingerprick tests yesterday - didn't check BG last thing last night but this (05.30) morning it was 15.1! Took a dose of insulin to bring it down to a reasonable level and by 07.00 it was 5.8. I'm OK with that.

Morning all on St Lucy's day 2024 which for the confused isn't the actual Winter Solstice. I doubt any debate in the 1752 Parliament over the calendar change was in Gregorian chant but it amuses me so to think. I now have an image of JRM chanting and Nige, pint and fag in hand decryng Brussels. Sorry Nige, Gregory Xiii wasn't a Brussels bureaucrat but very much par for your course. @dunelm such talented grandchildren, enjoy. Thank you for sharing your art. There are yellow (and black) taxis, town colours, hereabouts but no screen doors to slam. The winner was at least partly, as will always be, for any allusion to Joni. @gennepher thank you for the video and the intriguing creative yesterday. @Annb I hope leg day goes ahead and well, hug for the failed Libre sensor. Have a less saccharine sweet video from a far more dark and dangerous part of the world which should please the Druids, Scandinavians, Italians, Goths? and Christians here - inclusive or what?. The most famous poem wot a poet Dun for today is here along with a more upbeat and modern one, with a wonderful piece of art. Also attached is Rev Richard Coles' - now AKA Steeple Man/Revo - take on the day. What japes chums. .All in all far more interesting and likely to live up to Bernard Miles' claims for a well known stout than Elsie Keto will ever manage for me. Salmon day for me today, how will you be bringing light into your own day?
