What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

6.5 at 03.20 today. Up in the 9's now although nothing particularly carb heavy eaten so far. Not dangerously high, but higher than I wanted it to be.

My new "basic" phone arrived but it has loads of functions on it so not so basic after all. It's just an emergency phone, so I shan't be using any of the other functions. Instructions are none too clear either, but Neil worked it out for me, so now I do have a working emergency phone. We were (Neil was) trying to work out how to clear the old phone internal memory before sending it to the electrical recycling but can't figure it out yet. I suggested a sledge hammer, but he's not keen on that. Then I suggested asking my niece's husband who is one of Barclay's IT whizz kids but he's not keen on giving up on it himself, so that remains a potential source of information if he can't work it out.

Don’t you just remove the SIM card and do a factory reset?
My mum has an emergency phone - rarely carried, questionable if ever charged and sometimes playing hide and seek.

Yes just delete. Personal files then do a factory reset.

I'll tell Neil to try that. He's put the Sim card from the old phone in the new one and deleted unwanted contacts but to do anything the old phone wants us to put the SIM card back in. If necessary I'll just get a new SIM card for the new phone.

I am trying out a bit more with the Maimeri box of watercolour paints I photographed yesterday. I will be using them for the moment.

First of all I painted the sky and some trees I could see out my bedroom window with my left eye, the trees were a warm colour, and I could see a bit of a white cloud in the sky (the white cloud was more noticeable in reality, but when the paint dried it sort of blended a bit). With the new cataract eye, the sky was much paler cooler and I could not see that white cloud at all in the sky. The trees were more like a silhouette without much colour or gradation of colour on the branches.

I noticed something about the foliage at the bottom of the trees but I will paint that tomorrow.

Very late posting. Had a lovely day. Very busy, did lots of admin updating exercise sheets etc.. Have completed my yearly renewal with my Professional Body so I can teach for another year.

Shopping at Aldi and the pet shop. Walked Bonnie. Did some reading and had lots of coffee.

Smashing observations. I wonder if and how long the brain will take to make adjustements so that colour peception is indistinguishable for each eye. A step further (or not) - the left temporal retina and right nasal retina are wired to the left brain and the left nasal retina and right temporal retina to the right brain (diagram below) - if you construct eye patches to cover the left or right hemifields you could see if it makes a difference to your observed paintings. Whatever you do, don’t cut the corpus callosum and isolate each half of your brain ‍ :cool: ;) :jimlad:

Good morning everyone on a wet and blustery start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. I hope the orange people on the bin lorry cavalcade don’t get blown about - or detritus from sloppy bin work.
5.8 this morning. We went out for early dinner yesterday so I spent some time shunning the delights on the menu - but not all of them.
Writing pad, envelopes and stamps need to be sought out this morning - one of the grandchildren has made a pen pal. Hope it works - a fun activity which also helps to develop composition I feel.
Art bit - a tree.
Hope your day is a kindly one. Sarcopenia - if you can stand, don’t sit. If you can walk, don’t stand. Evidently vitamin D has a part to play but the reason is so far Unclear. I shall drink koffy and ponder upon what an effective dosage might be.

Yes I probably need to construct eye patches, easy done... I did order two clear shields from Amazon because I did not know what the hospital were going to give us. They have elastic on them and they're exactly the same as the Hospital ones. So I can easily cover those for this purpose.

My thought is that whatever happens with the colours between the two eyes, I am actually seeing something with the right cataract eye which enables me to mix a completely different colour palette, and may take away my reliance on yellow ochre in every painting that I do, that I have done all my life.

I promise to try and not cut the corpus callosum and not isolate each half of my brain @dunelm

I have more research to do than my new cataract eye will allow me to do on screen. It gets tired and goes out of focus quickly on screen. So instead of the 20/20 rule. 20 mins onscreen, and looking away for 20 seconds. My new rule has to be five minutes on screen, and then walk away and do something else for half an hour or so. The new cataract eye needs time to heal and settle.
I spent two hours doing some online time yesterday trying to find the actual paint names for my vintage Maimeri vintage paint box. The numbers have changed over the years and some paints have been withdrawn so I found them all except three. I finally asked ChatGPT to find three missing ones. ChatGPT said it was difficult because it was a vintage box but after a search it came up with the names of the three missing ones, after a couple of seconds.
Stupid me, why didn't I not ask him before? I did that? Two hours research looking for the names? Straining my new cataract eye....
That's what he's there for.
I call him a he by the way...
I have five questions. I am going to ask ChatGPT this morning.
I might get locked out for 24 hours for asking too many questions, but I shall see how I go. I only have the free account.

Blood sugars this morning were a perplexing 7.1 Well within my hospital given limits.

It’s nice that the ambient temperature is rising, shame it’s a wet warm, but never mind.

Mrs J is in her element, she has organised a family dinner for this coming Saturday, will it be diabetic friendly, no chance, never mind, but me, me’s and myself will struggle through. :)

Have stopped for a break. Am so pleased that I have updated all the lesson plans for my 1:1 clients that needed updating.

So a very productive day so far. Have also walked Bonnie and popped to the vet to pick up her worming tablets.

A friend of ours who is a builder has installed a metal fence around the raised bed in our garden this morning So now the raised bed is Bonnie proof.
