What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

one thing I have noticed about myself. Is I do seem to be mentally stronger dealing with what the fates have brought.
If You don't mind @Lamont D .

I think at some points in life, we wade into troubled waters to help others.

Usually it's a short lived rescue need.

But for those times when it's longer term.

I believe we accept the challenge & metaphorically, divest ourselves of garments or such that might encumber us in our endeavour.

A sort of reassessment of the situation & redistribution of our talents, skills & patience.

I think it's human nature to worry when facing an overwhelming fear, to think we might fail or not be strong enough to hold the line when the storm waves arrive

But you have, and that realisation that another stormy wave has crashed over you, and that you are still there, holding strong, embracing a loved one to you , proves how little we know how strong we can truly be.

We ARE strong
We do what needs to be done
& each wave successfully managed helps us grow stronger.

Be proud of that strength .
Trust me, not everyone has it.

I thank you again my mate. @jjraak
Well put, and I love the wave supposition.
The mental health nurse actually asked me how I was coping.
I answered.........badly and floundering a little. (Wave thingy again)
I have grown more resourceful, more resilient, I'm still concerned about my temper, frustration and my lacking in professional nursing and caring.
However, I do seem to be able to tackle things as I did, make decisions, battle a little harder, defy the pressure and get on with the life I have at present. And not spend too much time thinking about it!
I could still do with more me time, a little bit more respite away from the humdrum.
It is what it is. Get on with it.
So I do.
Picard out!

I doubt anyone could do more.

You are certainly channelling your energies well .

I Always think we're very critical of ourselves when in the midst of the storm .

Hard to see what others see .

The respect at how we ride the wave.

And that our example could be dispelling the disbelief that what we do, is beyond the range of others

We can only do what we can do.
Anyone's head should be help high with pride, if they've given their best .

And I for one, can see that so clearly in you.

Respect
And may the days be as gentle as possible .

Currently serving on the U.S.S Doubtful.

I have never been proud of myself. I'm not proud of that either.
I have always been someone who has been driven to be or push myself to improve my or our situation.
So I'm gonna be the best I can in every situation.
except when circumstances overwhelmed me.

I'm ever so U.S.S Grateful for your (federation) council.
I know and U.S.S. Respect you for your kind and encouraging words and support.
You have a way of expression and understanding, that helps so much my friend @jjraak ,
The U.S.S. Lamont is all about survival struggling the odds against us all.

Live long and smash em up.

Having trouble with my eyes and eyelids at present so was hoping to use the e-consult system to get some advice since I find it hard to get in to the pharmacy to ask for advice there but the system has changed to only being available for a limited number of requests for a short time during weekdays. Even then, it is only to be used if a GP has asked you to use it. If I could get hold of a GP, I wouldn't need to use it. Makes no sense to me at all.

Alistair tried to use it to get advice on what was wrong with his very painful neck (he injured his shoulder a number of weeks ago and thought it might be connected) but couldn't get any access to advice so had to self refer to physiotherapy at the hospital. Seems it's arthritis, possibly aggravated by the injury and probably not helped by all the lifting he has to do as a postie.

We do still have a GP service here, but it is going from bad to worse. I still have no results from my heart monitoring test. Luckily, apart from the breathing difficulties, my heart seems to have gone back to its normal. slightly odd rhythm, which I have only just been told is a heart murmur. Never knew that, but I've had it for more years than I can remember, so am not concerned with that.

A very wet morning here. We will probably take Bonnie with us to Norwich as it is far to wet to take her for a walk.

The suggestion by the dog trainer to stand on her lead to stop her jumping up to greet people has worked brilliantly. The hardest part is to train people to keep their distance until we have stood on the lead. They say that they don't mind her jumping up at them. I think that they will when she is 30 kilos.

Good morning everyone on a so far blissfully quiet start to another arbitrary set of spins round the great ball of fire in the sky. For a while it all started on a Sunday but I never bought into that. Monday makes more sense other wise we would not have a week end but a pair of book ends.
5.7 this a.m.
Half term has begun. In this location at least and for one week only. Girl In The Bubble sharing has been organised and an agreed timetable sent to her two sets of grandparents. We have Tuesday, Thursday and Friday with a sleep over Thursday night. Already her and Mrs Miggins are planning activities. I have taped a sheet of watercolour paper to a board for her for Tuesday (she chose a small pallet of 5 colours yesterday). I think it will be just two brushes and painting flat - I have a table top easel but flat may be the best option.
It may rain today - or not. Whatever, we need to get out for a walk.
Art bit - ink and then a wash.
Hope your day goes as well as you can make it. I am reminded in a world where so many people get offended that situations require our participation, context and categorisation. Only our reaction decides. I shall make koffy and decide that it is good.

A great winter painting of winter trees @dunelm

I felt really ill in the night. Check temperature and all my other readings... everything is normal... so I concluded it was my body having a delayed extra stress thing on all the cancelled appointments and postponed appointments and changes of time even in the morning of the op. Couldn't get back to sleep. I still decided to look at the recent wildlife SD cards to just before the hole appeared on my inside doorstep. No sign of any rat or mouse. So they definitely didn't come in from my back garden itself. They would've had to creep against the wall along the far side passage, and come in under the back doorstep. The trail camera would not have picked up a little beastie right beside the wall. Now I know their entry point I need to put peppermint and rosemary, et cetera all along that far side passage. But it is too early to plant seeds so I'll have to see if I can find some plants at the garden centre.

In the passage where the cat flap is, the trail camera captures the dividing wall and the bungalow wall as well. There is never any rats or mice in that passage. Maybe two reasons. One is a couple of stay cats sleep in that passage. The other is I have loads of peppermint down that passage. The mint went completely mad in growing. And that is why my thought is to plant rosemary and mint down the other passage.

I got rid of the bird feeders a few months ago, once I noticed the rat/mouse using them.

But what I also noticed was the new badger family, Thor and Willow, and the new fox, Finn, are now visiting very frequently during the night. I now have enough footage in one night to make a video instead of having to look through hundreds of video clips to make one video. I don't know what the attraction is in my garden, but they are doing a lot of digging for worms and grubs. And I do supply water.

So, expect a new wildlife video soon....

Here is my creative offering for today.... some trees with a back pen and water mister which turns the Inkwork purple.

Have your best kind of day...

8.2 at 04.15 today. Remains above 8 so far today.

Our water is off so we are quite restricted in what we can do today. Unable to get his shower this morning, Neil put the recycling bins out and retired to his bed again. I can't do that, but have been dozing in the chair, as usual. Was intending to make soup today, but with no water can't wash the leeks or cook them with the chicken. I am hoping to get to that in a while - presumably the water will come on some time today. I have managed to collect about 2 litres in a jug left under the trickling tap for about half an hour. We are at the bottom of a little hill so we get a little trickle left in the pipe when everyone else has none.

Very sore and itchy eyes again today and I'm treating them with cold eye pads out of the fridge. That calms it down a bit for a while but it doesn't last. No cucumber in the house at present, so can't use cucumber slices though I think that would work. Just treating one eye at a time so I can still see what I'm doing. At least I've found a use for the eye patches the opthalmologist gave me. One holds the cold eye pad in place for a while, though they do tend to slip if I keep my head up. Better than nothing.

I use artificial tears for my dry eye syndrome but it needs to be a gloopy product, so viscotears is the one for me. Wonder if an antihistamine would help?

I have Viscotears for dry eyes but the drops more often then not end up on my face because of my arthritic hands and shoulders. Not really much help on my face. I don't think my problem is an allergy, so doubt if antihistamine would help. It's the result, I think, of watery eyes (probably due to dry eyes), constantly irritating my eyelids. That's why I think a cream of some sort would help, working as a barrier but have to be careful about that. My eyes do tend to react to some products, which is why I never wear make-up.

Snowdrops finally appearing in our garden - some deciding that coming up through the lawn is still a great idea.
For some reason our montbretia thinks it's time to shoot. They're usually a good bit later than this. Other than that, only the evergreens are giving us any colour and the rest of the trees and shrubs are looking very bleak. Neil did decide he could cut the grass though - just before the rain came a day or so ago. With the rain and the higher temperatures, it won't take long before it needs it again.
