What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

I did a stupid thing on Ancestry merged two record and lost a whole lot of records in the process so am slowly rebuilding the lost records.
I haven't tried doing that. I think it would be beyond me. I don't really trust these sites any more. I bought a DNA test kit for Alistair a while ago and his result has just arrived. He's going to forward it to me so I can compare it with mine but it won't be far different - just a bit more Irish from his father's side but it looks to be a bit more specific on the Germanic (Frankish) side.

I had a reply last month from the WDYTYA magazine telling me to look for my ancestor in the Wiltshire records. Sadly, I have no access to those records despite joining the Wiltshire FHS a couple of years ago. They didn't reply to my e-mails at all, so I gave up on them. Maybe I'll try Rootschat. They seem to be a helpful bunch.

I did that about 5 years ago, and I lost heart. I had gone a long way back. Ancestry advises you to do some silly things sometimes. And some of the suggestions it makes of oh this is the parent of so and so, click on this and you've got all this coming on your tree. Click on this at your peril and then you got a whole pile of rubbish coming on your tree because it was an incorrect parent, but you believed it, well I did in the first place. I don't now...

I have never gone back yet to try and get all that information back, my original information. I have just been dealing with the last few generations on my tree recently, not going far back as I did. I would like to get that information back. Actually, I printed it out all those years ago and sent it to my children. I think only one daughter can still find the original actual paperwork. I need to ask her to take photos of it. So it is doable for me to do it again, but as I said, I lost heart at that point of time because so much work went into it.. .. I have enough other things to be dealing with at the moment, but I would really like to get back to it @JohnEGreen

I have to agree that in the case of Archie and Banksie, that was the case. Alistair and DIL did take them to dog training classes, but really didn't have the time, or the strength to spend training them outwith the classes. Banksie, on his own, would have been fine, but Archie, being still a pup, although very big, was excitable and playful. In the house he was fine, but Hugo's barking at the stranger passing by the house, excited him too much. The fence was no obstacle. He didn't get a second chance.
That was such a shame @Annb

At least Banksie was rehomed and is now an emotional support dog. He still has to wear a muzzle when outside and always on the lead but his new owner loves him to bits (and has an enclosed garden so he can't escape, even if he could be bothered to do so).

That is an improvement, so I have given you a winner emojie @Peanut234
I hope things are going okay for you....
Thankyou Gennepher
I'm doing OK, bit am trying to spin a lot of plates to get into a better place, while doing all the normal life things and its exhausting.
Physio, exercise, pain, sleep issues, fatigue, special dietary needs and trying to manage blood sugars are a bit of handful at the moment.
I'm frustrated that I need 3 naps a day at the moment, just to cope.
I was working on a passion project, but at the moment (and for months) I just can't.
But I am hoping that focusing more on the blood sugars will help.
Through physio etc I've managed to regain the ability to stack the dishwasher, which is a milestone. But not really an exciting one.
It feels like all the progress made has been a big fight (or a series of them), and it would be nice for it to be a little easier.
Thankfully I have people who can support me with the various things.
I'm looking forward to reaching some other goals that are more on my own terms:)

I was wondering about going on an insulin pump, but I realised that it won't make anything easier as its just more to learn, and may affect my sleep which is not a good idea.

A win fur juggling so many plates without breaking ..(them OR you...! )

But a hug too, life deffo isn't easy on you at the moment.

Annoying on the naps front, but sometimes we only have so many resources to spare , and yours are all being used keeping you afloat .

Maybe see the naps as an Allie in this guerilla war going on inside you.
It's one of the good guys.

Morning all.

Bit of a mix of a week

Rehab moving forward nicely, all helping my movement & mobility .

No added therapy for hand says upper limb doctor...so seems like scarring damage won't be addressed properly...mmhh

High hopes private CT scan might have been approved pre india trip... that's a no, for now

Plan is to wait for kings orthopaedics to examine leg and ascertain if there's any underlying issues for the pain ...so I still have a plan B .

Psyche side anxiety is a little lower, which makes life in general more bearable.
And the sleeping pills for the chronic insomnia are giving me the best sleep in 4 years.

They also help the pain, but as @ianpspurs puts it 'transit ' is severely disrupted.

Sennicot & prune juice brought in to play

And seem to be helping.

Blood test done other day, results on line all looking ok-ish.

Vit D deficiency, GP prescribed a course of meds & advised life long supplements of vit D.

Which given the hermit like existence of the last few years isn't really surprising.

But 3 weeks in India won't hurt that issue,
AND as an added bonus......

In my 4th year of recovery, after relearning how to wash, dress & feed myself

My HBA1c came back as 48.....whoop whoop

A long time getting there, but limited mobility and reliant on others shopping & cooking for me torpedoed my diet utterly .

So all in all, not too shabby .

Sets me up for the holiday rather nicely, I'd say.

Glorious sunny day again in the Capital.

May we all live long & prosper

Don’t know what fog was as forgot to test before breakfast.
Had appointment yesterday INR and dressing it has been decided that an X-Ray and MRI would be a good idea so have been given a phone number so I can call the hospital and arrange that for as soon as possible.
Have an appointment at City hospital this afternoon called them yesterday told them I am unable to get there so they have changed it to a video appointment much better for me I am just not up to a 30 mile trip there and back at the moment.
Seems that I have lost about 3 pounds since January so have been prescribed protein supplements chocolate flavour this time trouble is they are high in carbs but swings and roundabouts as they say.

If the protein powder works out for you, you could try one of the ones made for 'sporty' people - might be lower carb. Sometimes avaialable from supermarket or pharmacy. Pharmacist may also have ides of alternatives.

A good call on change of venue
Sofa is SO much easier.

The MRI & CT scan shows at least they're taking it seriously.
Lets hope it leads to restorative actions being taken asap.

And sometimes we just have to take the hit on the T2D to help ourselves move forward.

As Ian says it's not the only snake in the jungle.

BG at 05.00 today was 7.1 - still is after 2 cups of tea.

Another bad night - more than half in the big chair - due to the pain in my left wrist and hand being back. It really is a shocking pain, also slightly swollen and slightly elevated temperature. Can't use the hand at all - makes for difficult dressing and one handed typing isn't much fun either. Managing to make tea but can't cook. Just as well I have a pot of veg and lentil soup ready - 2 meals there, so enough for today and hope for more use in my hand tomorrow.

Preach Brother, preach :D Wonderful news on the A1c :woot: No happy dance to celebrate with him Genn; STS (Save Those Spoons). Low carb pancakes??? don't do it to yourself. On the other hand, Keto cauliflower buffalo wings - with pickled radish - romped home in the 2.20 at Newmarket yesterday-winning the Suffolk Lunch Plate :playful:

It is very difficult when that much is involved.
I know the feeling.
You need those naps, they can only help.
Take care @Peanut234
