Good morning and a Happy Father’s Day to all who identify as a Father. Always a non event day I feel apart from those who sell cards for all occasions or the persuaders of BBQ events. Bah! Humbug! :jimlad:
5.8 this a.m.
Veterans breakfast club yesterday on Falklands Liberation Day followed by purchasing of sourdough boules at the market.
Today - the sun is shining so advantages must be taken to get out into it.
Art bit - what happens when you wet paper with saline and then drip ink onto it.
May your day be sunny and bright - already finished my koffy.
Beautiful trees @dunelm

9.5 at 03.45 today. Libre tells me that it has been staying stable just under 10 all night. Actually it was 12.8 when I went to bed, so that's a bit of a surprise.

It must be something to do with brain changes in old age, but I find memories from very young childhood presenting themselves for inspection quite frequently. Last night, a very clear image of an incident in about 1947/8 of a tram on fire in either Tooting or Croydon. It was dark so it must have been winter (I wouldn't have been out, nor would my mother have been shopping after about 6 pm). I was there (not actually in the tram) with my mother. Don't remember if my brother was there, but he must have been unless it was late '48 when he would have been in hospital. Must ask him if he remembers. I'll see if there's anything on the internet about a tram fire in South London around that time.

Good afternoon - and it is a good afternoon - all sunny and bright. Out this morning for a bone warming wander, now sitting in the garden with a lemon and ginger tea.
5.4 this a.m.
Mrs Miggins has just gone to collect the Girl In The Bubble from school. We will drop her home on our way into town later for an early evening walk. There may be a restaurant involved with their once per month Market Menu offer on.
Art bit - just some ink doing it’s own thing.

Not much wrong with my memory. My brother doesn't remember being there, but he does remember being told about the tram fire. Neither of us has managed to find anything on the internet about it so it couldn't have been very remarkable. It must have been in 1948 because my brother was in hospital for much of that year with polio, otherwise he would have been there as well.

Got oops all evening
So this post is for Monday 16th of June... the site wouldn't let me in..

The Swing

I have been working on the swing recently, and repairing Big Ted from the damage caused by Pa Badger couple of years ago...

This is a bit poignant because I am currently editing a video with the new male badger Willow... I think I named them both wrongly. It appears that Thor is the female, and Willow is the male. Willow appeared to show umbridge to something earlier this morning. And I am still editing it so it will be tomorrow before I can share that....

Night night

Sweet dreams

Quiet day yesterday, recover g from the trip to Guernsey. As a treat, Day out it wasn't a huge success, parts of it were eenjoyable, but the ferry port was disorganised and overcrowded. With long waits and too few seats, no café either. MrSlim was forced to remove his belt for "security checks" this left him holding up his trousers for some time, he was very uncomfortable and embarrassed. Angry at being treated like cattle, herded from one crowded space to another with no consideration for our welfare.
While the weather was good and the island pretty, the bus tour of the coast was uncomfortable and crowded. It also took a lot longer than we had expected, leaving us with not enough time for a proper lunch, before our tour of Victor Hugos house. Every room was ornate, huge carved furniture, tapestries on walls and ceilings, chandeliers and statues. A unique style.
Here is the Red Drawing room.

While we will not be copying the style of the house, we both admired the garden and may incorporate some ideas from there into our own.

Good morning all. Up early today which is unusual for me. Joined the walking group for another 2+ mile walk yesterday followed by a walk around town but struggled as I'm still out of practice. I bought a small acer plant, "orange dream" from the market garden stall, something I have wanted to do for some time. For now it is planted in a large pot and placed in a part of the garden which has dappled shade so hopefully it will do well there. Also went for a hearing check and am to be fitted with a second hearing aid. We took birthday presents to our neighbour in the afternoon and we were treated to chocolate birthday cake! Delicious but fbs early this morning = 10.7!! :arghh: Must be more strict today! Best wishes for today. :)

Victor Hugo house looks like a good visit, the journey not so much. I don’t travel abroad now unless I really must - visiting my mother is about it at present - always awful at airports and seaports.

Walking group - smashing. Hope that your Acer thrives

Good morning everyone from a blustery NE coast.

Today is the last of the 24 exams our grandson has been taking for GCSE’s - Spanish, which he is pretty good at. Parents have organised a surprise lunch at a branch of Miller & Carter - he does like a rare steak. We have been asked to hide the Rolls Royce round the back to hide the surprise (note: not a Rolls Royce at all, what’s the fuss, it’s just a plain old car, hardly distinguishable from others of the same make).
Conversations with my mother this morning. Her latest piece that she finished only on Sunday has already been sold so she is off out to lunch to spend some earnings. That will cheer her up no end.
Art bit - We went to Central Park once.
Hope your day is treating you fair.

It looks like a magical place @dunelm

9.5 at 03.30 today. Still lingering around the 9's despite very little food and plenty of insulin.

My cousin has expressed an interest in our family history so I have printed out some of the lists of different branches leading to ours. There are plenty more to send to him. I could e-mail them, but it would take a lot of e-mails to get them all to him - the files are so big - and putting them all back together could be confusing, so I'll mail them to him. I need to buy some more A4 envelopes.

Ancestry has recently sent me a diagram showing how I (we) are related to the late Queen. It's slightly wrong because they have one generation missing but I'll send a modified version of it to my cousin (QEII was our 1st cousin 15 times removed, it seems). He might be interested. I'm not that impressed myself.

You could have visited the original, which NY is based on. Birkenhead park.
or go to another Central Park in nearby Wallasey.
