Bon voyage.Good afternoon from a pleasantly sunny and breezy afternoon in the dark and dangerous north.
5.7 this a.m.
Girl in The Bubble stayed over last night. She made a birthday card in readiness to go to a party this afternoon.
Up and about this morning. Bed stripped and washing machine on. Two loads now completed.
Packing - just a small under seat bag so about 10 minutes work. Off early tomorrow to sit in commuter traffic round Manchester before flying to Bordeaux to spend a week with my mother. Looks like it might rain so a coat.
Art bit. Coloured inks on a postcard size piece of watercolour paper.
Hope your weekend is being kind to you. Best go and check that washing to see if it’s dry yet.
Good afternoon all. fbs this morning was 11.6.
Today feels very special as my dear dad would have been 100 today. So many happy memories of our time together. Glad that we took his favourite flowers to his grave yesterday as it is pouring with rain and windy here today.
On another note I am feeling a bit daunted about my diabetes situation. My HbA1c in July was 64 but the previous few months had been full of health problems which had limited exercise plus some comfort eating as well as discontinuation of one of my diabetes medications due to serious side effects. I'd hoped this months test would improve as I am back to my walking group and improved diet. However, I was called to see a GP as my HbA1c has increased to 69! I was really disappointed. As I am already taking 3 medications for diabetes the GP said that due me being diabetic for 20+ years my pancreas is now "knackered"--his word not mine--- and he is now referring me to the hospital diabetic department. Whilst waiting for an appointment I am to test my sugars 4x/ day. He anticipates they will prescribe injections of one of the diabetic weight loss medications. He didn't say which one but they each have things that affect my other conditions. I am usually quite positive but have to admit to feeling somewhat down atm. I just feel I have failed somehow.Best wishes to everyone for the week ahead.
Just a thought, I wonder if you should ask for a test of leptin levels? If you find that you are leptin resistant then it is possibly impacting and you can do something about it. Last week my dad would have been 96, died last year, lots of happy memories.Good afternoon all. fbs this morning was 11.6.

Thank you@Annb for your reassuring words and for taking the time to respond to my post. I know there are many with worse problems than me and I should be ashamed for feeling sorry for myself. It has just come on top of several other conditions this year. I will just have to wait for the hospital appointment and hope they come up with a solution without any further side effects. Best wishes.View attachment 74086
Disappointing yes, but keep going. The frog might choke the stork yet!
I may have been diabetic for 50+ years (not diagnosed until 20 years ago). I haven't been told yet that my pancreas is knackered but, even if it is, it's still worth trying to keep BG under control.
By the way - you haven't failed. Maybe the medications and other health conditions have made things more difficult for you, but it isn't failure. You have coped with a difficult situation and there may yet be other things to try.
Beautiful little sketches @dunelmGood afternoon from a pleasantly sunny and breezy afternoon in the dark and dangerous north.

The badgers are very active in my garden at the moment. They are digging deeper and bigger holes but they are not burrowing, they are digging for grubs...
It is definitely getting cooler...I've just started putting on a second blanket some nights...

Other than snow, we have had everything else today. It's cold but brief sun is quite warm. It's definitely 3 layer clothing here these days.
Don't feel ashamed for feeling sorry for yourself - we all go through patches like that. It's only human. Not many of us are like Job in being able to take whatever is sent to us. I find that acknowledging a condition or a pain is helpful in dealing with it. You can analyse it and work out what makes it worse or better, you can rail against it - sometimes that helps. You can talk to others about it - like your friends on this forum. Sometimes a rant is in order and helps to deal with frustration. Here's a good place for that as well. All these things help to a degree and, let's face it, we all need all the help we can get.Thank you@Annb for your reassuring words and for taking the time to respond to my post.
