What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good afternoon from a pleasantly sunny and breezy afternoon in the dark and dangerous north.

5.7 this a.m.

Girl in The Bubble stayed over last night. She made a birthday card in readiness to go to a party this afternoon.

Up and about this morning. Bed stripped and washing machine on. Two loads now completed.

Packing - just a small under seat bag so about 10 minutes work. Off early tomorrow to sit in commuter traffic round Manchester before flying to Bordeaux to spend a week with my mother. Looks like it might rain so a coat.

Art bit. Coloured inks on a postcard size piece of watercolour paper.

Hope your weekend is being kind to you. Best go and check that washing to see if it’s dry yet.

Good afternoon all. fbs this morning was 11.6.
Today feels very special as my dear dad would have been 100 today. So many happy memories of our time together. Glad that we took his favourite flowers to his grave yesterday as it is pouring with rain and windy here today.
On another note I am feeling a bit daunted about my diabetes situation. My HbA1c in July was 64 but the previous few months had been full of health problems which had limited exercise plus some comfort eating as well as discontinuation of one of my diabetes medications due to serious side effects. I'd hoped this months test would improve as I am back to my walking group and improved diet. However, I was called to see a GP as my HbA1c has increased to 69! I was really disappointed. As I am already taking 3 medications for diabetes the GP said that due me being diabetic for 20+ years my pancreas is now "knackered"--his word not mine--- and he is now referring me to the hospital diabetic department. Whilst waiting for an appointment I am to test my sugars 4x/ day. He anticipates they will prescribe injections of one of the diabetic weight loss medications. He didn't say which one but they each have things that affect my other conditions. I am usually quite positive but have to admit to feeling somewhat down atm. I just feel I have failed somehow. :( Best wishes to everyone for the week ahead.:)

Disappointing yes, but keep going. The frog might choke the stork yet!

I may have been diabetic for 50+ years (not diagnosed until 20 years ago). I haven't been told yet that my pancreas is knackered but, even if it is, it's still worth trying to keep BG under control.

By the way - you haven't failed. Maybe the medications and other health conditions have made things more difficult for you, but it isn't failure. You have coped with a difficult situation and there may yet be other things to try.

Just a thought, I wonder if you should ask for a test of leptin levels? If you find that you are leptin resistant then it is possibly impacting and you can do something about it. Last week my dad would have been 96, died last year, lots of happy memories.

You could be right@dunelm as I have non alcoholic fatty liver syndrome. Thanks for bothering to respond to my post and sending empathy for the loss of your dad. My mum also passed away c18+months ago from sepsis following a long struggle with Alzheimer's. She was 94 1/2. We were all very close but as you say it helps to have many happy memories.Best wishes to you. :)

Thank you@Annb for your reassuring words and for taking the time to respond to my post. I know there are many with worse problems than me and I should be ashamed for feeling sorry for myself. It has just come on top of several other conditions this year. I will just have to wait for the hospital appointment and hope they come up with a solution without any further side effects. Best wishes. :)

Beautiful little sketches @dunelm

6.8.
Mrs L is not too good despite the antibiotics. Might have to wait til l results come through tomorrow. Hope they phone. The carer this morning suggested a full panel blood test. We are both due next month anyway. We shall see. Mrs L Developed a touch of laryngitis yesterday, the cough is better However, changing the bed at 5am this morning despite the protection. Is not something I nedded. As @dunelm said lots of laundry to do. Had to use drier, as the weather is wet and quite cold through today..a
cooked Mrs L a lovely bit of cow. But struggled with it and lost.
Really getting used to my hearing aids. Can't hear the clocks unless I concentrate now. And noticing other noises that are strange in so many ways. Cos, I'm not use to them.
off to bed nice and early again.
I wish everyone a wonderful Monday.
And my best wishes.
as you lot know, I have had my battles with the doctors to get to the bottom of what is happening with my condition. The same is happening now with Mrs L, we are so complicated and individual with those complications and side effects. I have learned so much about metabolic conditions. And the more I learn, the more I need to continue learning as I get older, things change with every year.
I learned to know my body and if something isn't quite right, make sure and ask the silly and stupid questions to those doctors, dsns, specialists. Ask the forum.
And finally, try and find out, what your body needs to be healthy, maybe, a change in diet, exercise or little things, there or make you feel happier about yourself. And mentally, some relaxing me time. And talking to someone you can trust, often is so beneficial.
Good night and peace to all....... Please!

5.9 this morning.
Mr K is gradually feeling a bit better, and looks a lot happier.

I phoned Jane who runs the Gooderstone Water Gardens Tea Rooms, as she and husband are retiring today, to wish them well and ask her to say goodbye on our behalf to the people who run the craft stalls there as they are all.packing up for good also.

We had become very friendly with all of them over the years and I wanted them to know we really enjoyed our visits.

Actually, the lady who runs the Water Gardens probably shouldn't have given me Jane's personal telephone number but I am so pleased she did.

The badgers are very active in my garden at the moment. They are digging deeper and bigger holes but they are not burrowing, they are digging for grubs...

It is definitely getting cooler...I've just started putting on a second blanket some nights...

Night night from me
