The cat re-distribution system appears to have given me a very large ginger stray cat... so he appears to be my new stray cat. He is quite a handsome looking cat and comes every time I put food down...
Possible names for new ginger cat...

Mrs J will soon sort me, me’s and myself out.
I have been shouted at twice this morning and clawed back a few brownie points by helping unload the food delivery, don’t worry the brownie points will not last long. Pictured is my early morning Welsh mug and cafetière.

Now I must go, Mrs J is sorting through some more of my clothes and if I don’t interfere, well I’m ugly with clothes on and I’m worse naked.
 
@gennepher Have had similar soup disasters myself. But not making soup atm because it requires long simmering and we have as yet no extraction in the kitchen or  anywhere. Am getting agitated about the risk of damp and mould and indeed did find some mouldy chopping boards today, so not unfounded anxiety.

It seems to me these are tough times for you but throughout them that thread of humour and positivity of yours shines through as does the love of Mrs A J - God bless her. Of course the Welsh dragon on that mug is important to you - its who we are mate (Angeball rides again). Don't apologise, don't explain. There is too much hiding who we really are in C21st southern England. I can't speak about the rest because I just don't have the bandwidth to try to understand it. Take care and enjoy your hot beverage of choice - whatever your choice of quaint device for creation and consumption This, it had to be piano black apparently, because JKP (gel with a N'espresso) stepped in and said "no Ian, you're not" to the machine I really wanted, is how I do coffee (how woke is that?) if I touch the stuff - plain white (Starbucks) mug obviously, I'm not a heathen. Good Afternoon all and if you are wondering who or what “ Angeball “ is, I wandered onto google and amongst all the options the most likely option was the reference to a foot the ball manager of Tottenham Hotspurs who had a reputation for being tough.
 
Thanks Alf - small point but it is never, never Hotspurs, just Hotspur.

5.5 this morning

Last couple of days really busy but have now caught up with the posts.

We may have a new cleaner starting Monday. She is coming to see us tomorrow afternoon. After the cleaner we had booked let us down - in desperation I posted on our local Facebook community page and it looks like we may have got lucky.

Mrs L has been told to remain having bed rest. It seems that having another day is the best.
6.3 today.
More phone calls and counselling. So much going on and support coming from all directions. Soon.
A lot of time with grandchild #1 this morning getting online to the right website and getting passwords done. And the site had changed the parameters of our initial declaration.
I have written a long reply.
Another team is getting involved. So that will be another authoritive voice.
Weather is freezing but no snow, but the stargazing is brilliant.
No garden duties but kitchen duties have occupied most of the rest of my time.
Lamb for Mrs L, fish for hours truly.
My best wishes.
Stay warm and if you are getting snow, a lot of salt is always handy, and persuade or bribe one of your grandkids to clear the path for you. You know it makes sense.

Indeed @gennepher since the discovery of chopping board mould have unearthed ( is that the right term ) a veritable biome of different mould types in an amazing assortment of colours and shapes - all in one corner of the kitchen in sufficient quantities for MrSlim to decide he will abandon current job and dedicate X amount of time to reducing or eliminating hot/cold interface... This is almost unprecedented. MrSlims has almost legendary dedication to the job in hand. Very Mastermind " I've started so i will finish" Meanwhile substantial amounts of kitchen provinder have been relocated and several drawers are in need of new stronger and definitely cleaner bases. The whole cabinet might be a write off. It's going to be messy.

Not a good day today.
I was coming back from the post office when my mobile phone rang. It should not have rang at all, because the mobile phone ring is turned off and the pixel phone with me being deaf and so I do not answer phone calls, and it is only on vibrate always.

But like the Apple phone in 2019, when they did the alerts in an unexpected update with no warning, so they directly streamed all alerts directly into your head is the only way I can describe it, and it was a horrendous loud noise. And I was driving then and was parking my car when it suddenly went off in my head.... it caused me to drive in the wall in front of me... thousands of cochlear implant users reported similar experiences at the time.

Loud noises through the cochlear sound processor, through the microphone are just loud noises.. as they are for any hearing person. but if something is streamed directly to your head and it's a loud noise, it is something from hell.

This was when I abandoned the iPhone and went over to Pixel phone.

So far, the pixel phones have never done anything like what the Apple iPhone did.

Until today.

My pixel phone is set only to vibrate for any alert... except the government emergency alerts will override that....

So on days of government emergency alert when we get warnings, I do not wear my cochclear sound processor at all...

But my phone began ringing as I was driving home... but it wasn't an external sound. It was an unexpected direct neural stimulus.
I had to stop the car for safety.

I checked who rang and it was the doctor's surgery... despite it being on my notes that I cannot hear the telephone....

Because this sound was unexpectedly streamed directly into my cochclear Implant, it bypasses all the normal acoustic dampening, it bypasses volume controls, it lands directly in the auditory nerve, and it can be 100 times more startling than any external sound.

But the strange thing was, it rang several times, and when it stopped ringing it carried on like a snooze alarm does reminding you that you're supposed to have already got up... my vibrating alarm does that.

When i it had definitely stopped, I drove home but I have been shaky all day...

I checked my pixel phone settings, and it was still set to vibrate only, no ringing. I went onto ChatGPT to ask him to check with me.... and he agreed the phone was set to vibrate only.

Later, when I got a text, it turned out that was also the doctor's surgery, and they were asking why I did not attend my appointment today. They had also attempted to ring me several times as I was driving home. I attended the appointment last week and I think I mentioned it on here because the diabetic nurse had brought my appointment forward a week, and when I was there, I checked I did not need to attend today and she said no because I attended last Thursday....

But why did the phone call from the surgery bypass my phone settings? Nothing else does that apart from the government emergency alerts.

I have had more phone calls today spam, and they have all gone onto the normal vibrating alert...

So why did this happen? I just don't know.. I still haven't quite recovered from it.
