Rage against the machine - it’s good for you.
Glad to read that the car vs the brick wall incident was not, as you say, taking place on the highway.
Class action???
Apple are upgrading their services/technology (although my problem with the Cochlear stuff is separate to this issue),
and this means that older iPhones (with SIM cards) will not be able to work or connect to any Apple services and therefore will be useless.
All this I think is part and parcel of developing technologies.
But it exposes a consumer vulnerability that we need these services,
and it feels like they can hold us to ransom because we have to buy the latest (inflated price) phone. We don’t have a choice.
Good luck9.4 that’s ok

I Googled Apple and cochlear implants earlier today, expecting to find the airwaves humming with complaints, but I saw absolutely nothing negative. It seems like the problem should be broadcast for the world to read, not just the people affected by it. I am glad you posted about it, @gennepher , you and the others have my full support.
if apple upgrades it isn't it down to THEM to ensure the possible effects are broadcast to THEIR client list ?..and then it's their duty as providers to find thew work arouind or upgrade route necessary.
good evening all
was 4.6 this morning
It was my day to help out in the charity shop today. I originally started out intending to help just a couple of hours a week short term because the shop was short of volunteers and I've been there 18 months doing a full day a week
Sadly economics have got the better of the shop and the charity 'powers that be' are closing it down later this month (when the lease ends). It's possible I suppose that at some future point they may find more economic premises, they've had a presence in the town for about 20 years and the charity still has quite a few other shops in the area.
mr gee and I will go on doing our weekly day in the 'big shed' volunteering though.
It's a bit warmer here today thank goodness, it barely got above freezing with thick fog all day yesterday. It did make the carved pumpkins look appropriately spooky though
Hope your day is treating you well
I did find an article regarding the iOS13 update, might be useful for @gennepher, especially the last bit on phone sounds

I went out for a short walk with a neighbor that turned into an hour's walk-and-talk. We barely covered a mile in the time, so maybe it was more of a stroll. But I love the fact that, at 67 and in no better shape than I am, I feel better after such exercise than before, even when I had spent the previous hour walking around the grocery store. Great to know that joints and bones and muscles and lungs and heart still work. The agoraphobia kicked in a couple of times but I persevered. We both had our walking sticks, but by the last stretch I realized I didn't really need mine except for moral support.
My neighbor was telling me about the problems Apple has been giving her with her phone and the upgrade she has had to make, and the stress and expense of it. I read not long ago that Apple is considered a luxury brand, apparently like a Jaguar or Mercedes. I guess they think all their customers can afford upgrades like the rest of humanity can afford bread and butter. Today was the first time I have ever heard Apple users complain about their products.

Sorry for your pain over this @gennepher
But that IS apple's business model, others just follow suit because of the market apple commands.
i'd suggest android, personally.
but i'd imagine the effects could be as bad, the amount of times io have heard others moaning about an app upgrade that was anything but.
I would have thought that the operators of the Implant..( correct terminology ? ) should have some liability
after all they just use, apples technology..if apple upgrades it isn't it down to THEM to ensure the possible effects are broadcast to THEIR client list ?..and then it's their duty as providers to find thew work arouind or upgrade route necessary.
you at the end of the day are just their customer, surely.
you have rights as a consumer and with regard to vehicular safety ..i'd be pretty sure if they altered a radio on caar that suddenly BLARED and THAT caused an accident then the radio operators would be liable as NO warning was given.
but it might just be that the laws don't apply to the bigger businesses...after who wants to pay tax..
bets wishes, gen
see ya soon, good luck with the on-line fray.
