What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)


Thank you so much, @HarryBeau . I appreciate your advice.
I have just been on the phone with someone at the local Housing Compliance office, which has some influence over government-subsidized apartment buildings. My previous experience trying to get the management here to handle a problem has been very negative -- they smile and nod and then they do absolutely nothing. It is like banging my head against a brick wall and literally praying that the wall won't decide to bang back. Especially now at Christmastime.
The person I spoke with just now has said they will contact the management here; fortunately I have an anonymous e-mail address I could give, and blocked my phone number, so I don't think there is any way the management here can trace the call back to me. I just can't afford to get kicked out over Christmas -- or any other time!

I love seeing the pics of Charlie and Lola. They certainly are growing! They look healthy and happy and like they are completely at home with you.
 

Hugs for being foresighted enough to protect yourself with this complaint/enquiry. It is hard to get others in the same situation to band together on an issue. I can understand their reticence to get involved.

I would back you up with this if I lived in the same apartment building.

It's kinda funny -- and also irritating -- that with this country's, and my generation's, histories of protest, a couple hundred elderly folk can't join together and stand up for our own good ...
It makes me cry sometimes, and at other times I can't help laughing at it.


 
Had a distant American cousin (9th x2 removed ) his widow had a rent controlled apartment in New York. Her land lord wanted her out so he could raise the rent it ended up in court she won her land lord one Donald Trump lost and she stayed in that apartment till she passed away.

And she was just one elderly widowed ex actress.

Yeh Christmas gets us all eventually please don't watch those Christmas pud adverts.

Daughter has just bought a huge chocolate cake says it's for Christmas don't see it lasting that long myself.

I was waiting at Norwich bus station when a group of ladies got off a bus all dressed in purple with red hats.

For a moment I wondered why they were all dressed like that - then I remembered the line in the poem Warning 'When I am an old woman I shall wear purple with a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me'.

They were definitely having a great time. It was lovely to see a group of people so happy..
 

I have heard of Red Hat clubs but I have never seen one. That must have been great seeing those ladies and that they were out having a good time.

You were very brave to get on the bus with a flask of coffee. If I had boarded a bus with a full flask of coffee an hour from Norwich I would never have made it past the halfway point!

Taking awhile to get the figures down this time. I hadn't eaten that much of the root vegetables for the two Xmas dinners in one week last week, and the Xmas pud. But they were enough to alter the fine balance of keeping my blood sugars constantly in the 7's and 6's.

I was up at midnight...out in the garden with my camera phone and my stargazing app, but I didn't need it to see where the shooting stars were - the Geminids meteor shower. There were literally hundreds of shooting stars.

And I saw them despite the light polution - the security lights left on all night by others, the flashing Xmas lights left on all night by a neighbour, street lights, and the very bright moon which was light pollution as well!

I only had about 20 minutes to watch them because cloud cover came over. But I was freezing by then and my hands frozen all through...

I took photos with my Android Pixel camera phone. And it still took pretty good photos despite it being night time. It cannot take any of the shooting stars because they are too fleeting for the 5 to 6 second exposure needed ( and the phone is hand held in my wobbly hands!).

I took loads photos, but this one shows the moon (it was so bright that the long exposure made it look more like a full moon instead of a waning moon), but you can see the light polution, some stars, and the cloud cover beginning to come over. The second photo is a screenshot of my skygazing app, with more of the stars to the right of the moon.

To be honest I am going to have to wait until the Xmas flashing lights have been taken down after Xmas to get a better photo, I think.

But I am glad I got these photos!

I did walk into an animal in the dark, and I saw the shadow scurry away (Popeye was in my bed), so I was a bit spooked initially, but it was large cat sized, so at least it wasn't the badger.

5.2 for me today at 5am. It’s probably higher now tbh. I’m staying in bed until the heating comes on, tiptoed out to get coffee first.
@gennepher those are absolutely stunning photos, the top one should be framed.
@Krystyna23040 I’ve seen those ladies too, although I thought they were part of an Alan Titchmarsh fan club as they were at Cliveden where he was appearing to open a new bit of garden. They looked great though and I love that poem.
 
Good Morning and a 5.5 for me today.

I really have to get some jobs done around our home today and shop, Mrs MC will visit MIL on her own.

@Krystyna23040 im outrageous with hats, quite a selection, but this time of year I favour my Fedora's and tie Christmas Ribbons around them, I do get a lot of strange looks but also many good comments, all adds a little cheer to the world which undoubtably these ladies do.

@jjraak pleased there is progress with your nephew and how kind your Good Samaritan act was with the tumbled over lady, I've seen many try and ignore such situations as though they have not happened.

Fbg = 5.4 (or 5.6) or any number really. @Muddy Cyclist loving the hat and did the concert go ahead yesterday maybe positively affecting the fbg? @Krystyna23040 and @DJC3 I have never heard that line or poem. I would remember as a bug bear of mine is this idea of colours "going." I quite like the Hsrlequins shirts because they seem to stick 2 fingers up to that rubbish. Interesting looking back at last 18 months to 2 years of labs/ official measuring. Bg crept up from 5.5 to 5.8 in 3 goes, but cholesterol down .8 and weight 3 kgs below where it was Dec 17. Finger prick tests have remained pretty much the same if not lower - chasing wrong targets?. Anyhow, definitely Christmassy now with the O Antiphons - O Sapientia today ( in very short supply in this bungalow) Have a great day. Remember Eglantyne Jebb - fantastic name and founder of Save the Children.
