I took a friend with me when I attended the DESMOND course...after asking a couple of questions I realised it was just an exercise in futility for me...I spoke to the 'facilitator' she felt I was too advanced for the course (only diagnosed 7 months) so agreed there was no need for me to attend the afternoon session...it was such a disappointment & a waste of time...counter production to good diabetes management...it must be a real money spinner for some!I almost got banned from the DESMOND course.
Hug for the early waking and inconvenience. Just trying to figure out what would make anyone take a phone to a loo. @alf_Josiah Cromer is a very pleasant place - all round that coast is spiffing until you hit Sunny Hunny. Narich would be a good place for you to stop then maybe go to Peterborough. Far more suitable to you than the City where I was born - lovely Cathedral (and nicely at the other end of the county)Morning all. A not wholly surprising 6.2 today. I woke up at 2 am and couldn't get back to sleep. Unsurprisingly I'm feeling quite groggy now. I've got a very tedious day ahead : I dropped my phone down the loo last night ( during the flush, but it was only a wee thank heavens) I bounced it straight in a bag of dry rice as the screen went funny immediately, but it would appear dead as a dodo still. Very annoyed with myself. So phone calls to insurance co and a trip to the phone shop on the cards ( better not mention the not quite finished flush). So frustrating I have all my passwords on it, appointments Tec not to mention DCUK app which I always use. Luckily I remembered an old kindle fire in the drawer so was able to fire it up and log in longhand. I'm not used to doing it this way through so not sure how to navigate my way around. It took me ages to find this thread. I've no idea how to see notifications or tags either.
@PenguinMum great fbg there. I need to know which gin it was?

O Yuk! I feel for you!!!! Both my kids have done that, also I sent one's through the wash (well, he left it zipped up in his muddy snowpants pocket, serve him right lol).
I hate how women's front pockets are so squeeny these days that a smartphone won't fit. Have to go back to that sweet old Motorola clamshell phone to have a phone be safe. Losing inches'n'sizes doesn't help either.
I'd imagined that the folding smartphones were going to be billfold sized but nooo.....they are a folded up iPad! I chose my current phone for its absolutely stellar camera, but my gosh at what a convenience price to me!
Going to be quite warm with showers today. Allergist appt this am, drop some steelhead trout off at son's for smoking, meet bro and Mom for lunch, come home and play catch up. Pretending to learn a Vivaldi recorder concerto (on piccolo these days) to top it off!
I woke as usual, this time about 0445, to recycle some water, and discovered the downside of afternoon chocolate. Couldn't go back to sleep for love nor money. It's after 0600, don' wanna get out of bed but may as well.
5.4 0615 but I can feel it going up <rolling eyes>
@DJC3 how very annoying about the phone. I think it happens a lot, just hope you can retrieve contacts and info. Made me remember one of my son’s friends liked to put things down the loo; apples, watches, toys, keys, anything really but was too little to pull the chain thank goodness. He also liked to take a bite out of each apple in the fruit bowl but we learnt to move things out of reach. He is now a very clever surveyor. Will PM you re the gin in case I break any rules.
Agree it’s annoying that phones have got so big they poke out of your pocket.
I sympathize with the being awake too early syndrome. Normally if that happens I’ll put a Sleepcast on from the Headspace app - works every time. I don’t think I’ve ever heard the end as I’ve always fallen asleep again. Last night however, I obviously couldn’t use the phone. S*d’s law!
Home smoked trout sounds delicious.
Oh yes, kids love doing that don’t they? Keys seem to be a particular favourite. The single bite out of each apple is hilarious.
Thanks for the gin recommendation. Will you be doing more research later?
Phone sorted now - have a new one and thanks to icloud everything was backed up. House ins will pay for most of it. Phew!
I used to think the whole point of cell phones was convenience (no pun intended!) but they are so big now that they are inconvenient if they won't fit in a pocket. My new smartphone is a full inch longer than my old one.
Do you think you could sync the date from your old phone to your new one even though the old one drowned? There seems to be some ether-world out there that stores stuff, so maybe your data is out there as well as on the phone? I don't know ...
Good to see you here...hope all is good with you and yours and Wispa! Sorry your numbers havent been great. Take care.
