What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

@DJC3 You have my sympathy for your uncomfortable night. I remember those first few weeks well. I am not sure why I thought it a good idea to get 2 pups at the same time (wouldn't be without them though) I was lucky that they managed toilet training quite quickly (it was the only aspect of training that they managed with any degree of regularity) it was warm and dry so that I could have the door open and they had free access to the yard.
Your boy is so cute. I am sure that you are enjoying your new addition even though it is rather trying sometimes.

I did hear something that really upset me yesterday. After a lovely woodland walk we were sitting in the sunshine outside a little cafe and started chatting to a lovely family who we often say hi to on the morning dog walk. We were tucking into delicious sandwiches and cakes (I hasten to add that I only had coffee) and I explained why I was only drinking coffee.

The husband started telling me about his father who had T2 and is now on insulin and was diagnosed recently with charcot foot in both feet. He went to the doctor 4 times with incredibly swollen and painful feet. The doctor told him it was fluid retention and he has to walk more.

The very worst advice he could have been given. He was a very active man and he started walking even more so he has now done so much damage to his feet that amputation has been mentioned. This has affected not just him but his whole family - everyone is understandably very upset as he was so active and is now finding it so hard to cope with this.

His doctor said that he was the first person in Norfolk who had ever had charcot foot. Could that really be true.

I must admit that the Panorama programme really brought it home to me what a horrible disease T2D is and that I need to work really hard to avoid amputations.

It is so sad that there are still people who do not know that we can avoid worst of the complications with LC.

My sister in law in Germany has Charcot foot even though she doesn’t have diabetes. She is something of a head in the sand person so did nothing until the condition of her feet was horrendous. She had the first foot operated on last year, and they ‘tidied’ up the other foot so that it would be ok for the time when it came to walk with crutches. It took quite some time and about 3 intermediate mini ops to get the foot to heal. She had about 6 months in a wheelchair then crutches. She’s trying to postpone (for ever?) the op on the second foot. I was told there are apparently only 3 Charcot foot specialists/surgeons in Germany: in Munich and Hamburg that I know of, not sure about the other one.
This is definitely an awful condition. My feet are partly numb underneath- we have a foot massager that I use regularly in a desperate attempt to improve the circulation in my feet.
 
A friend put a fbk link that had lots of clever tips. Not world shattering but useful and time saving. Two that I tried today worked. 1) peel ginger with a teaspoon- less waste and it goes around all the funny bits. 2) to strip herb leaves off the stem, push the stem through a hole in a colander from the inside. All the leaves stay in the colander.

My goodness 2 at once! It’s the same as people who haven’t had a baby saying how great it would be to have twins! Twice the joy maybe but also twice the work and stress, I’m very impressed.
He’s getting pretty good at the toilet training, as you said, it’s easier because the weather has been nice the last few days here. It’d be different in the pouring rain walking round the garden for 20 mins waiting for a ‘performance’
At the moment I am gasping for air as I type - how can such an evil smell emanate from such a small body?

I remember standing under an umbrella with our dog when she was a puppy- it rained a lot in Brussels. Something to make your life easier. When he performs say a trigger word. We used ‘hurry up.’ So every time he wees, say ‘hurry up.’ They learn quickly. It will be the best thing you ever taught him when you’re standing in the rain at a motorway services and your dog is distracted by all the messages left by other dogs and you really wish he would- hurry up.

That’s a brilliant tip. I remember now seeing a programme about a dog show, maybeCrufts, I can’t remember. They had a dedicated dog toilet area and this owner was saying ‘busy busy’ which was presumably the same thing, just a trigger. We will start this immediately, thank you.
 
Slept last night with a reading of 6.7... didn’t sleep too well... work related stress kept me awake ... anyway early morning FBG was 6.3... not too bad... and after breakfast at 6.6... looks like a slightly better day than yesterday... whatever caused those 9s and 10s yesterday... phew!!! I think i need to walk and exercise a lot... and just need to figure ways of fitting them in my daily routine.... gd day everyone
 
Good morning folks, 6.3 on the dice, night out at GD's end of year fashion show where the students show off there clothing designs, there's some weird and wacky minds at work out there people. There was a section called "King of Queens", I had to avert my gaze :wideyed:. Celebratory Chinese meal afterwards as the wife was told she got the her old job back, no starting date but they said it would be quick, well chuffed.
 
@trick60 Congratulations to Mrs T on the new job.
@Viv19 @DJC3 I thought mine to perform using "hurry up". It is very useful when you are in a rush.
A new pot of strips today I was hoping that they would offer up something better than the highish 5's I have been getting but no still spat out a 5.7 this morning. Next new pot I buy I will have to specifically request a pot of under 5's.
