What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Just back from town. Legs comfortably bandaged again and seen the Diabetes nurse. She congratulated me on my recent BG control - HBa1c is 44. Didn't ask how I'd done it, so I didn't discuss it with her. She thinks I can reduce or stop Metformin but will call me when she can check that with a doctor. BP was all time low for me - 123/67. Weight 98.6 kg. :joyful:

Sounded like a very good morning @Annb

5.8 at 04.00 today. Getting ready for bandaging appointment plus a first appointment with GP clinic diabetes nurse. HBa1c must be reasonable by now (last one was last November and was 58 mmol) and I'm hoping that, like my weight this morning, it will be down a bit. Weighing in 1.2 kg less than last week.

You don't have to be elderly to be in danger in bath or shower. Yesterday morning, Em slipped on the wet-room floor, bumped her head and knocked herself out. Her mum is a qualified nurse and checked her over. Last I heard, all was well but I'll hear more today. I would have taken her to A&E but her mum didn't think it necessary. She just stayed off school (again) for the day. We used to joke that her dad was accident prone, but she seems to be following in her father's footsteps.
Hope em is okay.
I am fearful every time Mrs L is in the bathroom.

Congrats. Brilliant!

Good morning everyone on a dull start to double dip bin day here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.1 this am, just missing out of a “book ‘em Danno” music extravaganza. Walk into town via post office yesterday - it’s located inside a local shop as post offices tend to be now - a SPA in this case. Still, it provides a good service and the staff are not being accused of anything. Must remember that I cannot recall any past events if questioned - but how do I remember that I can’t remember :arghh: :bigtears: :coldfeet:. Probably won’t be believed as I don’t earn a fortune in forgetfulness. Do we actually need these people at the top? I forget. Today’s job will be to wander down not to station to collect train tickets from the robot ticket machine - I usually have e-tickets but for some reason it hasn’t happened this time - oh well, I get a nice walk in. Best put on a ganzy at it looks a bit January out there. Must remember to wire up that grenade to the door bell for any prospective canvassers. Art bit, tree sketch - I am being a tad relaxed with art at present. I don’t mind. Girl in the Bubble is still with us for a while - such fun. Hope you decide to have a good day. I shall drink koffy and decide if a shower is still permitted between January and June.
you have got me thinking that Mrs L could have been a PO manager in a former life!!!!

Raining again.
Cold.

Phone video
The last one I have of the little bluetit, and then it's back to badgers & foxes...
Between all the recent bluetit and sparrow videos, they have had a few thousand views, so hopefully they have given joy to some people...
And I have had a few problems uploading etc, and I felt like giving up on these videos. I very nearly did. But analytics tell me people are watching the whole videos more than once. So, it is worthwhile continuing, hopefully to bring a little lightness into a person's day. We all need this, especially in these times.

Creative...no time this morning for thinking about a drawing/painting so done a kaleidoscope! The badger in it is a soft toy J bought me, well before I moved here to be plagued by badgers...more than 30 years ago...it actually holds memories of that day - conversations and where we ate that day...

The reason I don't have time for thinking about something else is I am researching DNA. This person in Arizona has given me some pointers on how to understand my DNA results in Ancestry and actually where to look for some comparisons. I was ready to give up this Ancestry/DNA lark, especially with the information that my mother that brought me up is absolutely no relation to me (which was actually a shock to have that genetically confirmed) and some further information. The only information I have on my birth mother is what my cousin/brother told me at J's funeral in the church. And at the end of the day that is only what my cousin/brother was told or understood about me, and even that still may not have been the truth.

I have been researching how to interpret my Ancestry DNA results, reading about genetics, molecular genetics, and a whole pile more. I am the stupid idiot child where at school I was not allowed to do biology, science, chemistry etc, because it was assumed I would not understand it, so even now I am missing some basic knowledge of this stuff. There are enough children's pictorial books (I learn best with pictures, and when graphic novels are used for instruction), out there now, and this morning I have been reading more scientific books on this subject. There's plenty on the Internet Archive. But you can only borrow a book for an hour at a time...fortunately I can speed read...

So, my interests are elsewhere the next few days until I get a grip on this subject.

I am wondering if this is not a search for self identity now.
I have worked through a whole pile of emotions as regards who my parents were, and in itself that is probably not important any more.

Back to reading and studying and a cuppa tea.

Have your best day.

Great news. The girl Ann dun good. She's a top, top gel. :D

6.7 today.
Not got time to tell my dreams.
But I do think that the brain is sorting the thoughts and input of the day into something that the brain can then understand how to relax and begin deep sleep for rest and recovery.
The brain needs to get through REM sleep, when you dream, to start the deep sleep.
You don't dream all the time when asleep.

Have first guy in from housing to fit kitchen air vent.
He or the machine is very noisy.
Must go.
Be back later.I
Hang on there is big hole in the kitchen wall!!!!

I thought I would share this as it is obviously a cause close to my heart but has also affected many on here and sadly may affect more in the future. Here is a link to sign an open letter to the party leaders for anyone wishing to sign.

Our new heating system just isn't working. There are all sorts of things it could be caused by but even the installers don't know why. Apparently it happens often in their installations and they think it is because the manufacturer of the heat pump specifies a gel anti-corrosive agent and it takes a long time to dissolve in the water but eventually does do so (seems to be taking weeks for us). This is only because of the heat pump - the radiators could use the normal liquid anti-corrosive. Neil thinks it is also partly due to the fact that the heat pump requires 20mm pipework but the radiators they have fitted are just standard ones with 15mm connections causing bottlenecks throughout the system. May also be that they failed to flush the system through and there could well be debris or just gunge in the system, slowing the flow of water. Could also be that the filter on the system is not one of the magnetic ones we had before but just a kind of sieve , so small particles can pass straight through. Neil has spoken to the man who designed the system for this house and he thinks it will sort itself out in time. Meantime we are back to using electric heaters. I want my old oil boiler back. Neil's talking about installing an in-line water heater in the kitchen.

Apparently these systems are still new enough for designers not be be very clear about what recommended standards should be, never mind stick to them. This shouldn't be the case - heat pumps have been around for long enough for there to be a regulated standard.

I blame the government, but which one? UK or Scottish?

Worcester boiler, where have you gone? Please come back.

That ice cream seems well tolerated. I would be up for a gradual reduction experiment with it.
What seems to happen with me is that my body copes well with naughty treats as long as there are long gaps between them where I stay super low carb.

My brain seems to really love the idea of only eating the naughty treats on special occasions. It seems to make then even more enjoyable than when I could have them anytime I wanted.

I actually really missed the low carb treats I have every day like my nuts, seeds and berries and 100% Montazumas.

They couldn't have messed you up more if they tried.

I wish!

Electrician finished for today, coming back Tuesday morning to finish both kitchen and bathroom.
I tidied up before he was here. Wish I never cos I'm in the middle of doing it all again.
Then food. Then a walk maybe a little garden time.
Or I could just go to sleep.or the cricket........hhmmmmm!
Mrs L had an afternoon nap through the noise but as soon as the kettle was viable and filled, made herself available for refreshments.
And of courses inspection of the work done.
I have left her watching the Dambusters film.

My best dreams for you lot.
