Morning all from a one degree cooler L.A. on all Saints day 2024. Now we have entered the dark, cold season. I suppose the order has now been given for the big red button marked compulsory jollity to be pressed and forty odd year old music to be played in shops and on radio. Just remember to either dig out your sweater by Dec 12th or buy a new one - even up there in the D and D North granddad. Too soon to have the tree(s) up and a wreath on the front door or indulge in one of these? @gennepher thank you for sharing the video and the creative which was a clever way to re-purpose the rag paper. I think I see the reason for the name but I may be reading well beyond the lines. Yesterday went as smoothly as possible for me especially as during my scan it was announced that there was an issue with sending the images to their destination and the system would need a reboot after this last scan - of about an hour. Enjoy all/some/as much as possible of your Friday, I have salmon and a Greek salad so at least some part of today will be a Fairground attraction event (JKP is a dab hand at the essential crispy skin element) - what's yours? Good morning everyone on a marvelously quiet start to the day ‘twixt Halloween and The Day of The Dead. How we will survive such an eventless day is bewildering - and no tat in the shops fits the occasion of normality. Tip of the week, wear a coat when answering the door. If it’s someone you like, tell them that you have just got in. If not, tell them that you are just going out. Art bit, a bloke on a boat. Hope your day moves steadily in the right direction for you, “I’m walking backwards for Christmas, across the Irish Sea.” now, where’s my koffy.

Methinks the man doth protest too much. I would wager at least a farthing Mrs Miggins and your grandchildren hold sway over even your feigned flinty heart. Put on those fingerless gloves, that muffler, treat the whippet to a proper collar, lead and a whole Bonio, throw caution to the wind and two logs on the fire - you know it makes sense. Thank you for sharing the splendid art, the tranquility and hopefulness which completely belies the dour, confected persona the text essays to convey. A most egregious case of cognitive dissonance old chap and I'll be the lead misanthrope here, thanks.

Yes, that vanishing act of items happens often to me @SlimLizzy then a few days later reappears where I last saw it....

Found the boots next morning. Very luckily they were in the first box I opened. Had put them away with MrSlim's shoes.
Then again it was after midnight by the time I finished packing stuff away, so not surprising I made a mistake.

Found the information on stoism very interesting, but Wednesday is too late to start the week, especially as supposed to do a week of preparation. Maybe next year.

Mrslim puts things away, without thinking, so when asked if he knows where X is, has no idea. He thinks it's in the way, or untidy, so he puts it away. It simply does not register that someone else might want to know the location of that item.

Yesterday went with a French friend to try and find the house MrSlim is insisting is perfect. Like the village, but the house, even from internet posting I was sure it was too big, 100m2 larger, thought we are downsizing! More land, again downsizing!
Lot of work needed, suspect even more than redecorating.
So my friend and I drove to the village, not far from here, up and down roads, my friend spotted it, so we turned down a track which ended up at a farmyard, back to road, next left. Yes. There is the house. Bit further from village than I would like, not really walking distance. However it is huge and in really poor condition, the garden is probably north facing too.
But above all it is right next to the farmyard we drove away from. Totally unsuitable.
My friend had not understood why I wanted to look without arranging a viewing, but after we found the house and knew it was not what we wanted, she did. No point in dragging an agent out to take one look and say no...
Very gratifying MrSlim said he trusts my judgement and got straight onto finding alternatives.

Suddenly remembered the Nordic Walking poles that I used to help with the rehab after the RTA 19 years ago and I actually remembered exactly where they were stored.

I used them on my podiatrist appointment this morning and they really helped me walk in a better balanced way - rather than hobbling.

Am using them like walking sticks not to nordic walk.

I got so many comments all those years ago as I think they were a novelty then. I used to think if one more person says to me 'you do know there is no snow' I would bash them with one of the poles. Luckily I did manage to contain my annoyance.

However, there was one lovely memory from all those years ago. We were walking the North Norfolk coastal path towards Sheringham. It was a really steep path but I was really determined I was going to make it. The poles really helped but it was tough going. When I got to the top two old gentleman sitting on a bench applauded me for my efforts. Actually I am probably their age now - so they were not old after all

No sweater but I have a fabulous hat dahling, recommended by Coco Chanel but in red. Oh, and who could resist my Christmas cooks apron as recommended by Mel Brooks. Two logs on the fire - steady on.

One has to Lieki Nordic walking poles or, indeed, other Eastern Europeans - we are very inclusive here. Back home NW was quite the thing with several groups so no one raised an eyebrow despite the distinct lack of hills but then a virtue can be made of the flatness. The pub in Pidley, officially Pidley-cum -Fenton, is aptly called the Mad Cat. The village was also home to former England women's cricket great Charlotte Edwards - her dad and uncle were indeed also very good cricketers and lovely men, supportive of youngsters making their way in the game.

I am nervous about it all, not being able to be excited, I am full of butterflies.
Quite a few of the staff, was bar family celebrations were there at the home of football, to win twice for promotion and I was part of it. Probably proudest days of my football life.
Well it is right up there!

Gotta go, grandkids alert!!!!

Creative...some 6x4 photographic paper. Painted lines on the shiny side with my Art Kure pens. Sprayed with a fine spray of water. Left it overnight to dry.
Used a black edding pen this morning to do a few trees and stuff on it, but that was not the wisest thing to do because it might have clogged the pen up a bit with the glossy on the photographic paper. I couldn't find my black Biro, which is what I should've used.....

Have a great the rest of today...

Shame if the pen is damaged but thank you for sharing the creative. I've had nothing more mind altering than gaucamole today but I saw all sorts there. A giant purple? duck with two suns for eyes and a huge snake hanging out its fundament, elsewhere a cat face, a prancing bambi and at least one rabbit running away at the end of the middle row of trees. I had a rub down with the latest vole whisperers weekly after that. Perhaps they gave me too much radio active dye yesterday.

Big mistake. I just made some keto cocoa and kicked back, took another look. There's now also a marlin, Santa's reindeer and a koala. I knew the hold your breath part yesterday was overly long. Take a breath, and hold - counted to 35 at least twice, one elephant on a bike, two elephants on a bike ..... and breathe normally, yeah right after that lot I did teach Bashir (the custodian of the bed and dispenser of dye - come to think of it I'm sure as he said I'm injecting the dye now Ian, he went Mwahaha - a robot dance to loosen the back after all that laying.
