What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

7.4 this morning and I'm not happy!
Mrs L has been a bit of a nightmare today.
Somebody had to talk to her to calm her, I couldn't do anything, Mrs L wouldn't listen, everything I said wasn't true. Every word was all over the place. Delirious is the word used.
I feel useless,

warm this evening after a few showers first thing.
did my lawn, while Mrs L had a nap.
I'm stil l waiting, as miss Ross once said.
Upside down my world at the moment in time.

Ain't no mountain high enough.
Best wishes.

I am aware of resistant starch but it can only reduce effects on BG by a fraction, hardly at all for some people.

It's no use if the dish is intended to be eaten immediately like last night's linguine carbonara, which would have been unpleasant eaten cold.

This was already a less than half size portion (40g dry weight of pasta), I'm not interested enough in eating pasta to further strain relationships with my family by asking them to add extra processing to what was a quick, easy dinner so will just keep avoiding pasta altogether.
Ah well. I find it works great and reduces my carb loading by about 30%. As we don’t have any family at home to worry about, it’s never a problem - mind you, we hardly ever have pasta and the odd spud is always cooked in advance and shoved into the freezer in portion boxes. Rice and shop bought bread is not allowed into the house.

Good early evening everyone after a splendid post bin day. Youngest brother is now at mums and in charge of batch cooking. I wonder if I will be doing very much when I go over in a couple of weeks.
5.4 this a.m. mainly thanks to me and my marvelous home made chicken soup consumed well before 7pm (I don’t like wasting a chicken carcass).
Out over the moors today, reminiscent of wonderful early morning motorcycle rides before Mrs Miggins stirred.
Rosedale Abbey today - no abbey and strangely it was a priory for Cistercian Nuns until some greedy King came along between divorcing and beheading a smorgasbord of unsuspecting wives. But - far more interesting than weird cult practices - lots of wonderful walks, partly thanks to the advent of railways now long gone and the defunct iron stone works.
Lunch up on top of the moors at the old Lion Inn - half way along the coast to coast walk and who do great food in massive Yorkshire portions. So, sticking to the starters, Mrs Miggins had what looked like deliciously sauced mushrooms while I had a small bunch of chicken goujons with an unvarnished side salad.
Walk into town and along the prom when we got back so over 5 miles at a chatty stroll.
Art - a bit neglected over the past couple of days.
Hope your day was as kind to you as ours has been. Dentist tomorrow - how exciting - I may get a sticker!

If you have door handles rather than knobs, they can jump up and pull down with enough weight to open the door!

9.3 today after another experiment, sushi this time. Forced myself to stay awake for 2hr post meal testing, BG back to premeal level, yay!
Door has knobs. But ancient, wobbly and unreliable. Have seen her throw herself at the door sometimes.

Have found resistant starch to be helpful, but my diffuculty is MrSlim. His medical condition is helped by white starches, so rice, pasta and of course, in france, bread are always in the house.
I used to make cauliflower rice, happy to eat that, but with only one cooking ring, can't be faffing about. So mostly ready meals at the moment. Carefully chosen, I can manage about 30g carbs per meal.
Tonight we shared a trout, I had one piece of potato, carrots, peas and a green veg purée. Glass of rosé, and coffee after. BG before eating 4.9

Spike after one hour, 6.6
But after two hours down to 4.6
Its unusual for me to drop into the fours so very pleased with this.

Hi Debs, do you also check after one hour to see how high tbe spike( if any) is?
Not often, as it's such a palaver to test with my reluctant blood vessels. I'm doing the 2hr testing first and anything that gives borderline results that I still want to eat will get more thoroughly tested another day. I'm most keen at this stage to eliminate anything, like pies, that sends my BG into the stratosphere for 4hours plus.

Yes, as my French brother in law used to say, “it’s not a meal unless there is bread.” Your trout dinner sounds excellent.

12.5 at 04.20 today. I guess I deserved that so I can't complain. Comfort eating at its worst.

Just back from the weekly pilgrimage to the Health Centre for the bandaging ritual. The hip is really having a go these last few days which is making things a bit difficult. Today, though, I have lots to do and will just have to take more painkillers and try to ignore it.

I put an order in for my basal insulin, which should have been there today, but the pharmacy hasn't been able to get stocks in. I have enough left for about 6 days, so am hoping they can get it before 1st July, or I'll be in trouble.

10.8

Windy out today, we had a few big gusts earlier which made me worry about the security of the drying laundry - lots of towels flapping madly.
Windy here too. Bright and occasional sun but the wind makes it quite chilly. Trees are taking a bit of a bettering again. We have to keep an eye on the trees near the house because our telephone line is overhead and comes through between 2 trees. Every so often Neil has to go out and hack bits off of them to avoid them bringing the phone line down.

My laundry is safely in the tumble drier.

Very windy here and the sun is out, so this morning washing is getting a good airing.

7.3 not bad seeing my head is still battered.
I'm angry with myself because, I just feel as though I should be able to cope, and I know I feel deep down, that is ridiculous, and it's taking time, the way I feel, another long weekend and I could be a basket case. Maybe I already am!

a relatively quiet day. Mrs L has been having some extra bed time.
that has allowed me to get the chores done this morning, with the usual time consuming, necessary chief cook and bottle washer tasks in this household getting sorted.
it does see that anything else is just too much. Can't be ***** with anything else!

Once again, counselling has been suggested.

Football fixtures out!

Kitchen duties await.
I fancy chip buggies but will have to do with pork chops with salad.

My best wishes.
