What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Morning...haven't been able to post...the new laptop didn't want to remember my old password...tempted to have 'INCORRECT' as my new password...seen that message so many times the last couple of days...here now with a new password...yesterday woke to a 5.0...today 5.3.

Ok so this morning my FBG was 6.7 . Now that’s the highest I’ve been in the 12 days since I started testing normally under 6 . Had a livlife sandwich with cheese last night before bed and went to bed with s reading of 6.0. Which was also higher than normal . Think the sandwich supper will have to stop
Can someone explain this dawn phenomenon to me as I don’t have any idea what it is
Have a lovely day people

Morning all 5.6 today 4 hours sleep Sunday night caused inflation in bg numbers. As Governor of the Bank of BG I am writing myself a letter!
@flexi06 glad the phrase has resonance. @Debandez exercise bike is definitely the way to go but can become a bit of an obsession. I caught the bug a bit, padded shorts, oximeter, better bike with programs! It was basically how I lost my weight in the first 3 months and gained control of bg levels. Build up gradually and try for a thing called "sprint 8" if you can. Seems to be a bg killer.

8.4 this morning. I know it was caused by eating a lot of white bread late last night because I was so hungry I could have finished all. Going straight on my exercise bike to work it out
I now have an image of you saying, Capt Oates like," I am going on the exercise bike and may be some time"

Good morning one and all
To all you posters with low numbers ( that's anything below my numbers ) I beat you with an 8.2 this morning hehehehe. Nuts I say, don't eat nuts before going to bed, Oh and yes I am nuts as well.

I'm not sure my 15 minutes low impact a week will be what it takes!! It was a novelty last night. I hope I don't start hanging my washing on it today!!! Got to think BS. FBS today 4.8 so I'm very happy : -) out for a Chinese with the girls Friday and frantically looking for healthy options. Don't want to blow all the hard work in one night!

Noodles. I could just eat some now but having zilch til breakfast! My first go on the bike saw me burning off....drum roll.....70 calories lol. Only did 15 minutes and was in a right sweat!!! I'm working up from that. Can't go down can I
Now keep it up @Debandez, it's not just about burning calories, it's to do with lowering your BG.
How was yours this morning?

Hi all. Blood sugars were 5.1 this morning. It seems that the flu bug is finally out of my system.

@karen8967 -- A friend once said, for cats we are just human can openers. I still like to think that maybe we are a bit more meaningful than this. Our cat is now older, a bit more settled, so we get more sleep. In the beginning, when she got bored at night, she jumped on the bed and started walking forth and back (not on the bed, but on hubby's and my body) until we got up and went to play with her. So, they can be really selfish little buggers, but so cute, just like your cat.

@Peadair O Brionn -- The dawn phenomenon is due to a release of hormones (cortisol, adrenalin, growth hormone, glucagon) to give us a spurt of energy to prepare us for getting up. This is normally counterbalanced by insulin (in normal people). In diabetics this release of hormones, however, often leads to a rise in blood sugar levels either because we don't produce enough insulin and/or because we are insulin resistant (and the action of insulin is not as effective).

@Mick1959 -- The higher blood sugar levels, you've seen at 4 a.m. and also later in the morning are probably also due to dawn phenomenon. Often we observe normal blood sugar levels during the day, but still keep seeing higher levels early in the day (at least for a while). I gather it took at least half a year on low-carb for me, until fasting levels came down also (this happened even though my first two HbA1c during this time were already in the non-diabetic range). So, what you are observing is not unusual.

@dogslife -- Sorry to read that your hospital appointment got cancelled. Living with constant pain must be exhausting.

Who would have thought 4 months ago that the first people I would be thinking about upon waking would be my fellow diabetics (dont tell my hubby haha), wanting to share my FBS results with them!

Today I have a delightful 4.8.

I've never been good with figures but suddenly I'm becoming an expert! If only my maths teacher Mr Salmon could see me now!!! I'm even doing spreadsheets
