What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

You deserve your wine. Is the s
Hope it works again. Grandchildren are definitely good for your health.
I have a few weeks of ‘loom bands’ ahead of me - coloured elastic bands looped together to make long strings. No idea what the purpose is but the 7yo is hooked on them.
Enjoy your wine you’re in sunny Cornwall. I love the place in any season. All that girly making things is fascinating after having two boys who mostly acted out the superhero of the day in costume of course!

Morning all, a nice 6.9 especially after my hypo at 3am so I must have treated it properly! Half day today and off tomorrow for my 22nd wedding anniversary, scary to think I have been diabetic longer than I have been married. I am taking my wife to a lovely restaurant in Newcastle called The House of Tides, seriously looking forward to it, and its a taster menu so lots of courses, suits me.

Take care everyone.
happy annivversary johnpol for tomorrow enjoy your meal :)

I Was desperate for marmite on buttered toast. My daughter has some lovely artisan seedy bread. Very hard to resist, but just about managed. A long walk will help now I think.
Given the low fbg and provided hangovers are not regular, I would think the Marmite on artisan bread would be fine. The point seems to me to be low carb eating as the norm not a straight jacket. (Not advocating dropping WOE so no need for the LCHF Salem Witch protocols to be implemented)

My 10yo brother used to love loom bands you can make bracelets and key rings out of them

Haha isn’t it strange that little girls and boys are so completely different?

I think if I’d had one slice I’d have ended up scoffing the whole loaf. Then apart from being cross with myself, my daughter would have been very cross with me too. Sometimes total abstinence is easier.

Hi everyone,

Today's fasting blood sugar was 5.1.

Apparently it's my dad's veins in his legs that aren't working well, they ran more tests (the blood is getting down to his legs but has trouble getting back up.) They can't put in stents because they are so small (unlike the arteries). They gave him cream to put on his feet (the skin has split) and he'll be wearing compression stockings when the skin on his feet heals. The foot of his bed has been raised up above his heart. I'll be taking him for more tests at the hospital in 2 weeks. My niece who is a newly graduated RN will be checking in on him often.

My mom (who has early to mid Alzheimer's) was fine when I told her, she remembered about his legs and was "high functioning"when I visited. She also told me that his dad (her father-in-law) told her many years ago (when they were first married) that there were circulation problems in old age in his family. Although I take stuff she tells me with a grain of salt (because of the Alzheimer's), she will tell me things in the distant past that I've never heard before and often they turn out to be accurate. It's strange how with her Alzheimer's I'm hearing more things about her early life and when she first met my dad.
