What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

- You have my sympathy @Bubbsie. I think hot weather suits me in general. Tested regularly last year in Skiathos which was hotter than this and LC was very difficult to find - levels lower than expected. Also, as I said sleep hrs and resting pulse have improved. As a bonus I find it much easier to go longer periods fasted. Lots of people seem to have been affected so they have my sympathy. Personally, Autumn and Winter are times I really don't like - without sport to watch in those seasons I would be desperate

Me too @Bubbsie. All I ate yesterday were two medium plates salad with egg and ham and handful of cherries so its either the heat or the inflammation in my knee, or both. Am now with my friend (who is going through chemo) for five days so am going to be very strict with myself. Have a good weekend everyone.
 
Hug is for the inflamed knee and potential heat induced higher bg levels. Huge winner badge for being a really good friend. Hope you look after yourself and friend's chemo is as good as that process can ever be

My last fasting blood was 44mmol but I’m confused because people are putting results such as 5.2 or 4.4 so how come mine was 44mmol? I’ve not seen a diabetic nurse but have received an appointment in the post today? Should I be worried it’s so high?

Welcome @Moonstonebright.
I wonder if the fasting BG was your HBA1c, thats your 3 month average. Have you had any other test, did you use a blood Glucose meter with the blood droplet. Do you know anyone who has one that can do a test on you.

[ Edited, a fasting BG of 44mmol is a possibility, although extremely high]

The converter in the link works for single readings taken with a droplet of blood on a test strip in a meter. See this link

Evening all. Checking in to say that I tried the clafoutis recipe that @Bubbsie posted. Delicious.

Used raspberries rather than blackberries and erythritol instead of inulin. Didn’t add any additional sweetener on the fruit at the bottom and found it a very good balance between sweet and tart.

@shelley262 definitely one for the recipe list you’re putting together.

Thanks Ian for virtual hug and badge. Chemo is a really disgusting treatment but theres no alternative treatment. So I will stop whingeing for a while at least. Hoping for better results tomo. Sleep well.
 
Good people of this forum. I’m looking at your combined experience. I’ve got stomach ache. I’ve had it since Thursday night. it is made worse when I eat so I’ve not eaten today. I’ve had this periodically throughout my diabetes journey so I’m not concerned yet. My sugar readings averaged 13 today they usually average 6. Any tips or suggestions ? Kim x
 
Morning all - yes I have been awake since 4.30. I had forgotten what very low carb and moderate exercise does for me - wakes me up very early. That was excellent last winter as I watched The Ashes but no good today. Fbg was 5 so not even worth the lack of sleep Big gathering of the P clan today in honour of the birthday of my late Uncle so will meet cousins and aunts not seen since last wedding - our son's - a year ago.

Morning Ian and all. I tend to wake early in the summer....I really love the quietness especially on Sundays and with it being warm here it feels somehow beautifully alien. My sugars are 5.9 this morning which I understand is pretty much the high limit for the "normal" range. They have been creeping up over the past few days. Maybe I've been eating a little more than usual, certainly been BBQing a fair bit . I'm rediscovering the joys of the Mr Dawson the butcher, the very last one in town. He keeps organic pork .... Im not duly concerned about sugar levels and am hoping my annual HbA1C test which I'm now due for will verify that..... Enjoy your day , if you possibly can....

Me too! Although I wake early year round. In this weather the cool air is blissful and at any time of year the still and quiet on early morning walks is wonderful: living in a densely populated part of inner London, the quiet and aloneness is very welcome. I’m in the odd position of sitting at home wishing that the local swimming pool was already open so I wouldn’t have to wait around until 8am!
