You have my sympathy @Bubbsie. I think hot weather suits me in general. Tested regularly last year in Skiathos which was hotter than this and LC was very difficult to find - levels lower than expected. Also, as I said sleep hrs and resting pulse have improved. As a bonus I find it much easier to go longer periods fasted. Lots of people seem to have been affected so they have my sympathy. The weather/heat is playing havoc with my BG's Ian...woke on a 6.3...had a coffee & a couple of cheese biscuits (total of 2.4 carbs) just so I had something to fuel my walk...walked Harry for a mile and a half...home...tested at 6.7...there isn't much I can do about it...will have to wait for the Autumn which cannot come quickly enough for me.
So glad to hear they were so positive and helpful. A big relief all round!PenguinMum, it worked out relatively well. The head administrator of the long term care home got the dentist to visit today while I was there. The news was fairly good, no infection, no pain, no jagged edge and the partial plate still fits and it doesn't interfere with her chewing or bother her. She recommended against extraction and says it is unlikely to get infected. The denturist will visit soon to see if the dental bridge can be modified to add an extra tooth to replace the missing tooth (food will be less likely to collect there.) The dentist was wonderful with her (my mom lay on her bed to be examined) and has been providing service to the home for many years.
Me too @Bubbsie. All I ate yesterday were two medium plates salad with egg and ham and handful of cherries so its either the heat or the inflammation in my knee, or both. Am now with my friend (who is going through chemo) for five days so am going to be very strict with myself. Have a good weekend everyone.Morning...in the sixes again...6.3 this morning despite a frugal day on the carbs...10.000 steps plus...I'm definitely suffering with this heat...surely it can't last much longer...sweltering already...all windows open & curtains closed.
Hug is for the inflamed knee and potential heat induced higher bg levels. Huge winner badge for being a really good friend. Hope you look after yourself and friend's chemo is as good as that process can ever beMe too @Bubbsie. Hi and welcome @Moonstonebright This link may be helpful https://www.diabetes.co.uk/blood-sugar-converter.html but as @Canvaspic said your number looks as though it is an average over a longer period and the numbers you quoted are one off readings in percentages. The converter in the link works for single readings taken with a droplet of blood on a test strip in a meter. See this linkMy last fasting blood was 44mmol but I’m confused because people are putting results such as 5.2 or 4.4 so how come mine was 44mmol? I’ve not seen a diabetic nurse but have received an appointment in the post today? Should I be worried it’s so high?
Thankyou
Thanks Ian for virtual hug and badge. Chemo is a really disgusting treatment but theres no alternative treatment. So I will stop whingeing for a while at least. Hoping for better results tomo. Morning Ian and all. I tend to wake early in the summer....I really love the quietness especially on Sundays and with it being warm here it feels somehow beautifully alien...
