Hello mates,
At a couple of the other forums I've frequented there was a thread like this one where we all sorta checked in each day, with our first cup of coffee or tea, and reported our fasting or waking blood glucose level and some short comment about whether we're ok with it or if not - why not?...
It worked well as a sort of 'first thread to check' each morning and post to.
I'll start.
This morning was a 5.6mmol for me. That's about normal for me

woke up to no water in the house earlier, thankfully it's back now so I can shower before I visit the DN for my review
I had visions of needing to have a 'lick and a promise' using a flannel and a bowl of heated up mineral water
Grass cutting later at mum's before she gets her visitors at the weekend ( providing the weather holds).

Hi @Canvaspic if you are going for Keto you need to be eating 20 g carbs or less per day. Watch out for the hidden carbs, especially in veg. Just have above ground veg such as Cauliflower, cabbage, Brussels sprouts etc. This will help https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/foods. Fasting will get you into Ketosis quicker. You could start by not eating after 7.00pm and start again at 7.00am that will give you 12 hours of fasting. You can then build it up slowly by either moving or skipping a meal like breakfast so that you then do 16/8 that's 16 hours fasting and 8 eating window. You can have black tea, coffee and water during fasting. If at any time during fasting you don't feel to good just eat.I am not sure I have settled on a level. I think I was 37 yesterday, I am guessing I would need to go fairly low to transition to ketosis, so a couple of days around 15 may do it, depending on excercise. Dont have any immediate plans on fasting, but may skip evening meal, some of the time. So at the moment its a keto lifestyle, without actual ketones. Next week Ill push a bit harder to get into ketosis.

One of those days with lots of stuff including dentists yuk - still sun is trying to struggle it’s way out and hoping to catch up with friend this afternoon who wants to know more about my way of eating - I always enjoy a good chat about Low carbing and OH goes glazed over with boredom every time I mention it!
