What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

One hour after eating a 10oz steak, mushrooms and red pepper all cooked up in butter my bg has rocketed up to 11.5. I have just over a week of steroids so I guess my next HbA1c is going to be grim. Not really sure what to do, I can't excercise as my lungs will give up the ghost and I'm guessing that drinking water won't 'dilute' it.

In my experience that is one hell of a jump Mind you sometimes things I eat do affect me more than at other times so maybe this is just one of those difficult times for you? Re drinking water: there is an article on winter dehydration in today's paper ... In brief some people dehydrate as much in the cold as in the heat. I know I've been having issues with this over the last few weeks and taken to carefully monitoring fluid intake to make sure I get 2+ litres per day. ... Best thoughts in all events ...

Wow - big difference in some of those readings. - tell me to go away if you like but was there any noticeable reason for the 7.9? ... Tell me to take a running jump , or worse , if you want to....
Simple. I'm playing with my insulin levels and a fatty pork evening meal.
Due to my anti rejection medication anything below 10 is ok for me, according to the diabetic consultant at the hospital.
Hope that explains things.

day off..lie in.
happily unaffected today, by the body mugging us of sleep, with the 'MUST GET UP..NOW' work syndrome.

Just had a delicious breakfast..poached eggs slices of tomatoes,..AND grated cheese and Philadelphia (for the love of fats)

think @Emma_369 mentioned cheese with eggs while in Vegas.
thought i'd give it a go as Bulletproof coffee tasted SOO disgusting..:***:

and have to say ..I LIKED IT..cheese and eggs, will defo be on the menu again.

so fully powered and energised for my run this afternoon,
i'm ready to start my warm up with the score of the day....ya all know what that is...:D

so @trick60..my partner today
grab a paddle..i'll take the right side of the raft..and lets go BOOK EM, dano..

FBG 5.0...Creeping closer to the elusive, mysterious, yet strangely desirable, 4 point territory..;)

Cheese omelet. Best with extra-sharp cheddar. Or Swiss, with mushrooms added.

Do they say test 2 hours after your meal?
Remember steroids play havoc with blood sugars making blood sugar control almost impossible.
Take care and A1c is not the end of the world.

Indeed, normally I go 2 hours after but I wanted to see if the steroids were affecting the 1 hour peak, which they seemingly do. The 2 hour mark still saw 8.5 and I'm now back to 6.5 although I did drink 1L of water with 4 tablespoons of cider vinegar.

@HarrisonK whatever you do dont worry. If you are not well and on steroids then you cant do much other than eating carefully and getting rest. Try and get good sleep and lots of fluids. Hope this gets better soon. X

I have been a lazy monkey today, tomorrow I have to go to L'boro and it can't be put off but as long
as I take it steady it will be ok.

Big hugs harrison feel better soon x

Thanks Karen

Thank you, it is a big jump but I gather that's what steroids do so I will have to ride it out. I've upped my water content and added cider vinegar after reading a thread on here somewhere.

Well, KittenCat, seems everyone in England is asleep. Shall we be like Wee Willie Winkie and go for a prowl?

Say what? ...

We can round up Tom Kitten and Bustopher Jones and Jennyanydots if she'll leave the mat? And the Maltese Cat?

Oh, right, he's a polo pony not a feline. Well, then, what say you and Tom and Bus and Jenny go check out the mouse scene and I'll take the Maltese Cat and go for a canter.

Right. Back here before dawn.

Good morning folks. A 5.5 at 0500.
Busy day yesterday. Swimming with the grandchildren yesterday. The 2 year old twins absolutely loved the water slides whereas their 4 year old sister wasn’t that sure. Adventure ariel stuff and zip wires in the afternoon with the older grandchildren. Only -4 outside but they are kids and just don’t seem to feel it.
Managed 10 miles walking through this forest park, it’s a great place but very cold.
Have a great Sunday if you can. I started my carnivore month yesterday.

Awoke to 5.7, looks like the cider vinegar thing might have helped. Who knows in this strange place of Diabetes ;)

@HarrisonK here's hoping you get good rest tonight and feel well for a good trip to L'boro(?) tomorrow and safe trip home again.

I was too lazy to type it in longhand, L'boro is the town of Loughborough in Leicestershire which is about an hour away from me. I'd prefer to stay at home but, promises made, and I'll be back after lunch :)
