What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

good morning folks, well it’s only 0700 here in the crazy city of New York.
Another flat 6 this morning, my internal workings are still massively confused about what time it is; up again at very dark o’clock.
We managed 12 miles yesterday according to my FitBit and are off to Brooklyn today for a wander round the parks.
It’s a bit nippy and breezy but that may have something to do with this:

Am I jealous? Noooooooooooooooo not at all...

Wow, throne of swords, huh, @dunelm ? Sounds like the mayoralty of NYC, or being on Broadway.

Brooklyn was the birthplace of George Gershwin; I don't know if there's a plaque on the building or not (if it's still there). Have y'all ever read A Tree Grows in Brooklyn?

I hope y'all are having as wonderful a time as I had last time I was in England.

6.3 and 6.8 this morning, same stick, different meters. I'm having to switch over to my backup Relion Prime meter for a couple of weeks since I ran out of OneTouch Ultra strips and Medicare won't refill for two weeks. Relion gave me the lower number this morning so I'm happy to rely on it for now.

That is great news, @Traceymac23 . Hang in there! We're with you.

Glad you're feeling better.

I tend to agree with this Ian......
I dont really count calories nor carbs but can do on the back of envelope calculations . I find the difficulty is in determining feeling a real need, ie real hunger , getting used to the feeling of lower blood sugars , which seems to take a while to settle at various stages. ~Plus a niggling worry about the need to eat because of the prevailing ideology - instead of trusting the feeling of being just plain OK , or better than that . Its definitely a challenge.....

Good morning all, 5.4 this morning.

Yesterday was a busy day -never schedule multiple doctors the same day, I saw both the eye and foot doctors. Everything was fine (routine test for eye doctor - they watch the pressure in my eyes. I'll get the results when I see the doctor in a couple of weeks and get the retinapathy test then) and the foot doctor is because I have a tendency to ingrown toenails that have to be watched and trimmed.) The eye doctor ran late so I was late for the foot doctor.

My level was higher yesterday morning probably due to less sleep - 5.9 I was up very late messaging a fairly newly diagnosed diabetic who's much more recently bereaved than me (only a year) and having a tough time.

Well I have mixed feelings about my diabetic review appointment. As expected I was greeted with the statement that my BS ( as well as cholesterol) level was of concern and we needed to discuss increasing my medication. I explained that since my last review 6 months ago I had been under a great deal of stress, pain and, due to my slipped disc, had not been able to exercise and was convinced they had contributed to my increased BS. She said it was all about what I was eating. (I admitted to some comfort eating). She recommended I eat green vegetables "every" day (OK with that) but frowned on my eating cheese, bacon etc and gave me the Diabetes UK meal planner which includes 2 slices of bread with lunch, spaghetti, lentils, bran flakes, porridge, rice, apple/muesli smoothie and snacks of carrots & fruit such as pears, banana, apple, orange, grapes etc. I explained that I'd been following a low carb diet. She said that didn't suit everyone. I referred her to my earlier results when I had my medication reduced as a result of my low carbing and exercise. I then suggested that now my slipped disc had improved I would prefer to increase my walking, get back on track with my eating and try and build in some "me" time then retest in 4 months. She agreed! So it was hard work but I achieved what I wanted and it has motivated me to be more disciplined and focused.
(PS: My HbA1C was 59. PPS:I won't be following the meal planner).

Congratulations, @dogslife on standing up to her and standing up for your ideas and experience.

Good luck being back on track with what you know works for you.

Thanks for the encouragement, SasiaKC. At least it's given me the motivation I needed. I was feeling too exhausted to keep up the fight for a while.

I'm there now, tired of trying. I have an A1C appointment in two weeks, also to check cholesterol, and I have no idea where either number will be. I quit LCHF in hopes of bringing my LDL # down and I'm worried it is bringing my A1C up. I've been eating oats for "heart health" but oats are carbs. At least my weight's stayed "down," but I wanted it to be lower by now. I haven't lost a pound since last summer.

I'm also tired of trying to calibrate different components for different ratings, since I am NOT a machine and I am not made up of components. Sigh.
