Yeah, I know that one all too well. OK, have you been building up a STORE of Carbostiens? The Chips and Peas combo might "fill-in" the spaces for you? Any medication directly after eating? My guess come tomorrow and the day after, keeping to a punishing low Carbostien regimen could squeeze out lower numbers.I dont understand why it goes so high
Haven't a clue what it pushed my bloods up to as I didn't check. Anyway, this was a one off, I just needed something different to drink as I am a bit sensitive to tea at present. (Too much tea causes me issues and I have definitely been drinking a lot lately. The cocoa was straight out of the cocoa packet, the "milk" was soya milk so fewer carbs and the "sugar" was a couple of OHs "Sweetex" sweeteners which I wouldn't normally touch. If I use a sweetener, its generally erythritol. The resulting taste was pretty abysmal really, but it was wet, and I was thirsty. Actually, just noted you were concerned as the hot chocolate pushed your bloods up by 1, I have to admit that everything I eat pushes my bloods up by one or over. I don't worry so much sas my bloods generally are between 4/5 and 6.5 so as long as my bloods don't go over 2 at the 2hr mark I'm ok with that. Whilst I might covet really low HbA1c, I don't think it is ever going to go that way for me. But I do the best that I can and my HbA1c since I went low carb has tested in the normal range. If you are concerned that your bloods rose higher than expected, was it just for the hot chocolate or are you seeing rises with other foods that use sweeteners? Some people react to sweeteners.Gosh i miss hot chocolate, but does that not push up your BG with all the milk in it? I tried using cocoa, half milk and half water, and Candarel, and it pushed mine up 1.0!
The hot chocolate that i made tatsed really good, not as good as regular milk but really not too bad. My levels after eating rise at most by 1.0 but usually about 0.5 or6.... But i am going really low carb and no sugar in this early stage.Haven't a clue what it pushed my bloods up to as I didn't check. VivaChek seem to be one of the cheapest and also one of the most reliable. I bought mine on amazonMine was 6 for a few years, but since lockdown it is anywhere from 8 to 11. I spoke to the nurse and she told me I shouldn't be checking my blood as they do it every year for me, then in the next breath told me that I am the best in the clinic at controlling my blood count. I did inform her that it was probably because I keep an eye on it.
They used to give me the strips on prescription but for the last five or six years I have had to buy my own. I have had my Ascu-Check mobile for a number of years and the cartridges are quite expensive.
Thank you Wendywu, I loved the brekkie idea! I am 6.5 this morning with a high carb brekkie that I need to start thinking about lower carbs in my diet and this sounds like a great option.Mine was 5.3 which I'm happy with. I've had two cups of coffee but I drink it black and non-sweetened so I don't think it affects my bg much.
Brekkie will be cheesy scrambled egg on 1 small slice of toast, and more coffee.
Then dash off to retinal scan clinic, which thankfully they hold at my GP surgery just down the road.
EXCELLENT Numbers! Well done.5.3 This morning yipeee
I know that feeling I woke at 2.30 and tested 2 hrs later and like you I think "Dawn " got there before me lolA very esrly morning, but Dawn was even earlier.
