What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

6.9 - Middle of the night Prick ‘n Strip reading. Yeah, enough Insomnia to Waken the Dead…. ;)

Scanning through ALL our recent posts, some HIGHs, some MIDDLEs and some amazingly amazingly well controlled LOWs, I’m left with mixed feelings. However, the strongest feeling is one of Unity, if that is a feeling, to gently combat this condition by applying what we can accrue in terms of evidence based results and adhering to medicine, dietary and exercise regimes. You are ALL Stars by me… All of youse :).

Oh yes, and special mention to:
4.8 Happy

and our newest, fresh outta the Box:

I’d be happy if mine was down to 7…I’m around 14 most of the time, trouble is I eat ****..

I'm trying to lose weight as I have put on half a stone over recent months, all around middle of course :bag: - It's probably because I am hungry all the time so constantly snacking on nuts and cheese! I bought a second hand Keto book the other week which gives recipes for single meals and I actually think one of the problems is that I haven't been eating sufficient amounts of the "good stuff" in my main meals hence the over indulgence with the not so good. Things need to change! I am not really giving my bloods a chance to revert to good pre-prandial levels before I eat something else, this is bound to have a negative impact on my next HbA1c. I'm trying to get my mind right so that I can do a reset and I did manage to be very careful over what I ate yesterday. Bloods have responded well with a 4.9 this morning.:) Now how to continue that trend?- maybe a reset with a couple of weeks on an ND diet or just try some of the recipes from the keto book and cut out the snacks. Wonder which would be most effective, I know which would be easier. I've got 6 months to sort things before my next A1c. Let's see if I have the motivation which is really at very low ebb at the moment. Anyway, enough of my moans - thank you for listening and I hope you all have a good day today - and keep warm.

I can identify with much of what you say @Ryhia , it is a choice for me between weight control / reduction and T2 management much of the time. Though I have a fair few stones to shift, it just isn’t happening.
Are you testing for ketones as well as blood glucose levels?
In respect of my current fasting levels I notice highs of morning. I test if I happen to wake around 3 or 4 am. Then test when I wake properly at around 7ish. Yesterday was 6.2 at 7:10, today 6.1 at 7:25.
I have been eating in 7-8 hour window. No more than 60g carbs, mainly from vegetables. I just seem stuck, though.

6.5 this morning, finally seemed to have a better nights sleep but I think it was more due to having limited sleep that has caught up with me. Did a work out this morning but it was so cold that it took ages for me to warm up. The muscles in my legs were aching for the first 25 mins probably due to the cold. At the moment I have fallen out with my house, its too darn cold and I hanker to Summer - then it will be too hot :banghead:

I've never tested keytones but maybe I should, it might be interesting to know. The fact I have been putting on weight makes me think that I am unlikely to be keto adapted at present, too many nibbles and the occasional glass of all things alcohol are probably the culprits. Just need to get motivated to streamline my eating habits and stop snacking between meals. I may treat myself to a libre as well, just to see where things are with blood control, I used to be able to give a pretty good estimation of what my HbA1c results would be just based on glucose testing but I feel a bit in the dark at present. As regards my FGB testing, I have to admit I don't do foot on the floor, It's just not practical for me as my bathroom is downstairs so I usually get up and get ready for the day before I test. I have been sleeping in until about 08:00 am lately which is late for me so it may be around 08:30 before I test my bloods. If I am having an insomniac night and get up around 3:00 and test, bloods are usually at similar. levels. Hope you sort what is happening with your bloods and sorry for the slight derailment but it is good to talk. Will shut up now.
