What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Hi All, I've just signed up, apologies if this is not the correct thread for this but just looking at your results. Yesterday I took delivery of a Sinocare Safe-Accu 2 because I have been on intermittent fasting for the past 6 months and lost over 2.5 stones. I had a proper blood test in Feb which showed a significant drop in my HbA1c and triglycerides, however I was still in the diabetic range at 54 /7.2. I wanted this to check I was still on the right path as I stopped all my medication, Yesterday's reading at about 3 hours after lunch was 40/6.5 which I was happy with, however this morning after just a cup of green tea I checked again (last meal was about 8 last night) and my reading had gone up to 51 / 8.4, so I tried again and it went to 56 / 9.2, so tried again and it read 47/7.6. New strips and new lances and different fingers used. Is this confusion common? I now don't know what to believe. I see this thread has been ongoing for quite a few years so here must be a wealth of experience in you readings. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Hi and welcome. This friendly thread is for reporting morning FBG with a comment or two. Look up Dawn Phenominum which will explain tricky FBG. I am one who finds if I don’t eat something small my BG just keeps rising all morning. For me its a tiny slice LC toast with lots of good butter (fat to slow the carb absorption down) but you could choose any LC snack you like. Look at the “what have you eaten” threads for ideas. Note we do all react differently though.
Back on track this morning I am 7.3 which I am not happy with But tomorrow is another day.

6.8 this morning and have been unable to exert my self with exercise or anything too taxing. Have a horrid migraine and sinus pain. Nothing seems to ease it at the moment, so feeling very sorry for myself and frustrated as I feel useless lol

I use a Sinocare Safe Accu and I also use a Sinocare SafeAQ or T2 device for validation. You would think that both Sinocare devices would have the similar results as they are produced by the same company but they don't; the Sinocare SafeAQ I call my optimistic meter as it usually reports lower results on a morning than the Safe Accu device however by evening it is either on a par or records higher. My T2 records similar levels to the Safe Accu. All glucose testers have a degree of error in them, +- 15% I think, so its probably better to look at long term trends and how different foods or even stress (my bugbear) affect you. As you say different strips can produce varying results, plus the test strips are also affected by different things, temperature changes, soap left on hands etc. If I have an unusual result I just wash my hands and try again. Using my Sinocare Safe Accu over the long term I can usually estimate what my next HbA1c will be so I find it very useful to keep testing and recording.
Welcome to the thread.

Now to get back to recording morning results:

My FBG this morning was 5.7. Happy day folks.

Thanks, this is very helpful, I will look there. My reading last night 3 hours after meal was 4.2 this morning with nothing since to eat or drink had jumped to 7.6. I had better check out the other thread. BTW my reading before my meal having fasted all day was 4.3. I need to find out more. Thanks again for the tip and advice

Thanks that was very helpful. I will see what the long term gives and then I can compare to my 6 month blood test results.
