What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

The issue for me is similar, in that I don’t have an issue dropping off to sleep, it’s waking up and having a restless night because of other factors. In my case the latter including an affectionate feline jumping on me, work stress & worrying about - well you name it, I worry it to death at night. Not that it solves anything!

I’ve discovered that the app Calm has some sleep stories which send me to sleep almost instantly, and if I play one of those when I wake up, it sometimes settles me down again. Bed time stories for grown ups! I have a good idea of my sleep patterns now as I have an Oura smart ring which gives data on how much quality sleep I’m actually getting. I’ve identified that my bedtime is very regular, and when I don’t get enough sleep for one or two nights, I seem to catch up subsequently. That’s what happened last night & I feel much better today. And my FBG is lower too.

I think since I had a week or so of readings in the 5’s, I now regard FBGs in the 6’s as failures, whereas you’re right, it’s not too bad at all. Particularly when the dawn phenomenon is factored in.
An architect friend once said to me: If you wake up worrying about tell yourself there is nothing you can do about it in the middle of the night so visualise putting the thoughts and worries in a big cardboard box, tie it up with string (or a big coloured ribbon in my case lol!) and deal with it in later in the morning. It works most of the time. :)

6.7 at 7:30. I got up at midnight after 2 hours sleep and had a craving for cheese on crackers so had 2!

Hello mates,
At a couple of the other forums I've frequented there was a thread like this one where we all sorta checked in each day, with our first cup of coffee or tea, and reported our fasting or waking blood glucose level and some short comment about whether we're ok with it or if not - why not?...

It worked well as a sort of 'first thread to check' each morning and post to.

I'll start.

This morning was a 5.6mmol for me. That's about normal for me

What about you?

6.3 this morning.. usually in the low 7s most mornings, breakfast was bowl of cereal.. special k mixed with special k nuts and fruits mix and 2 slices of wholemeal seeded toast with peanut butter, usuall leaves me with a high of around 8 so not too drastic

Hi again. I did say before that I wouldn’t post until my next A1C BUT…..I’ve been ill. Got my very first episode of diverticulitis, how fun! Sadly, I didn’t know and ended up in emergency three weeks later. The pain came and went so even though it was unusual I ignored it. What I had noticed though is that my blood sugars were unusually high. Now I am healing but it took antibiotics and days of liquid only Fasting and then some yogurt and a bit of cheese. Even with so little food it wasn’t until this morning that I got a 5.0 fasting glucose! I have no intention of starving myself just to get a good number. It’ll be interesting to see what happens when I’m eating again (starting at lunch today).
A1C in ten days or so, although I don’t feel it’ll give me an entirely accurate number due to three weeks of sickness induced high sugars no a week of lower (kind of) sugars because I wasn’t eating.
hope everyone is well!
