What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Christmas In hospital.
Very very swollen legs and feet.
Need either Heart By pass or stents in major Heart Artery and to right side of Heart, artery is completely narrowed and I need further surgery in coming time period.
Anyway BG 7.1 mmol after waking.

Merry Christmas folks. Keep smiling
Really sorry to hear that not least because you have been making such great improvements in your D but maybe its nothing to do with D. Sending you hugs and very best wishes for a quick treatment.
For me today its 7.1. Happy Boxing Day, stay safe and well.

So sorry to hear your news. Not at all what you want I'm sure, but I'll take it as read, we are all routing for you and hoping that you whatever procedure you need will happen very quickly. Let bloods stay on the back burner for now but 7.1 not bad at all given the circumstances. Lots of hugs to you and your family @Ashybang.

Hi, new on the forum. I've just completed the Zoe test & coincidentally had blood taken.
Didn't think anything of the blood until the Dr's called to say I have a score of 7% (score of 57)
The CGM showed a low of 6.9 (3am- 6am) peaking just over 10 between 3pm & 6pm.
I am currently fighting the 'no mince pies' battle (may be losing :D) but keeping away from bread and limited myself to about half the amount of roasties I'd normally have. I am sure I will 'level out' in my head, in the next week or 2, and having another blood test in a couple of weeks

A rather desappointing 7.3 this morning. I know I had one or two naughties throughout yesterday but before bed last night I did a 20 min brisk walk and my BGs were 6.1 and despite the "treats" I had kept the figures in the sixes all day. F

I guess my body is telling me this is the price of my naughties

I had major heart surgery in May23. Diabetes had reduced my descending cardiac arteries by 80%, so only 20% was feeding oxygen to the actual heart muscle. None of this was diagnosed during my time on this Forum - none! Having had a quad bypass I’m a new bloke.

@Ashybang of course I do wish you well and the NHS will step up to cure you.

Morning @Ashybang. So sorry to hear you're laid up in hospital for a while. The timing might have been better but, all things considered, you're in the right place and you're in good hands.

Sending very best wishes to you and your family.

Today in hospital still......
BG 9.4mmol.
Was awake most of the night with Angina type pains.

Been advised they are treating blocked major artery in heart with stents as they believe I'm a major risk of complications with by pass, and blocked artery to the right of heart, they are leaving alone for now, and when I've lost weight, stopped smoking, reduced cholesterol levels, and reduced overall swelling in legs and body,...... they will look again and decide which is best action to take.
In the meantime, they've told me, my current breathing problems, and pressure in neck and head, from Angina attacks, will all continue for now, but will be addressed in due course, once I've responded to dieting, smoking cessation, etc. etc.etc.

Hi Everybody Hope you are all having a lovely festive season.......
Best wishes to everybody.
I'll be back in the 'HEART' of the action again, very soon.

Good Morning from NZ, a FBG of 6.1 this morning for me. Which is pretty good considering the cheeky croissants I’ve been having for breakfast. And the fries yesterday, when I was having a bit of a Greta Garbo day. I think normal service in the digestive dept is being restored after the mussel debacle, thankfully.

@Ashybang sorry to hear your news but sounds like there is a plan and you’re being well looked after.

Have a good Wednesday, wherever you be.

Hi Everyone.
This was my first Christmas with Diabetes and it was an eye opener. I'm back after a Christmas hiatus, back on the horse. Did my first solo libre change and it went ok.

My morning fasting was 10.4 on libre. Thats even with me increasing my long acting insulin.
I know what's caused it -
obviously not great food, but better than previous christmases

Stress - from having visitors and altered routines, and the Kids and husband being sick over Christmas to add to it all.
Hip Pain - from being on my feet lots and doing lots more than normal because of visitors.
reduced exercise - I had reduced from about 6 hours ( 6 x 1 hr) of swimming per week to about 2.5 hours ( 30 mins + walking in water x 3 times) per week because of starting the libre CGM for the first time, with its max half hour swimming limit. ( back to daily 1 hour swims starting on the 23rd Dec and its been helping.
Reduced sleep.

As mentioned , Ive increased exercise and am trying to focus on better diet and sleep, and less aggravating activity.
Im looking forward to seeing the hip specialist in a couple of weeks.

I have an appt with the Diabetes nurse in early Jan, so my goal is to have made improvements before then.

I'm not conversant with your T3c, nevertheless, what you've described in your strategy, sounds like a plan. Taking control is what we all have to do. Your adherence to evidence-based results, ie your monitoring, and taking emotional stock of our actions and reactions is wrapped up in all our Diabetes. IMO you have the best approach. Please update us as you go along. As to your 10.4, I nearly reached it too this morning with a 9.6, I'm a diabetic with a passion for bad for diabetes foodstuffs - I kid you not!

The Endosys is a remarkable responsive mechanism, it needs to respond in BOTH directions, its what it does. Being a T2 I've needed to engage with its machinations.
