Morning All 7.5 today seem to be stuck in the 7s. @mojo37 same as @MrsA2 re my use of Libre 2 . I use when away on hols usually but always keep a spare in case, God forbid, I get admitted to hospital because it would be essential for me. I am assuming I would be allowed to keep it on. @RosemaryJackson isn't it shocking that of all the really bad things you could put in your body 3 biscuits is the enemy! Don’t worry you will soon be back on the wagon. @mojo37 and @ChrisT2 I am loving your numbers. Happy Friday all.

7.1 this morning but had a carby day yesterday so as expected. Still seeing a rise up to 10mmols at midday even without eating for 12 hours then gradual decline towards evening. A bit dubious to eat anything lunchtime as even a small spike takes reading well into hyper space and will take average BS upwards and keep Hb1ac raised.
Spoke to nurse whose advice is "don't worry about it" but unfortunately I do as I really need to understand the complexities of BS readings as we all do. It certainly seems to be a dark art rather than a science for me, perhaps I should only test during a full moon. ;)

@living Lightly, thanks for the diet doctor info and to answer I have no particular preference for cider but that was all on offer except dark bitters. It is quite difficult when socialising to "be good" as no-one especially non diabetics seems to understand diet or abstinence and thinks I am just being picky or awkward. In reality just being careful as best we can.

Chris I am the same. If I fasted till lunchtime my BG would continue to rise over the morning. I am also the same that my BG steadily declines through the afternoon even if I have had some LC food at lunchtime. I choose to have a slice of LC toast cooled with butter and tea after I get up as I believe it helps to slow things down a bit.

Yes, it's hard when there's a limited range of alcoholic drinks on offer @ChrisT2, but you don't have to give up alcohol. If I were you, I'd present a bottle of your chosen tipple to your host on arrrival.

In general, dry wines and spirits on the rocks are better options for diabetics than beers and ciders.

The control of blood glucose levels seems like a dark art at the mo @ChrisT2, but as somebody who was diagnosed with type 2 back in 2003, I can promise you it gets easier and it won't take you 20 years to get the hang of it!

A low-carb lifestyle and regular meal times seem to work well for most of us, most of the time. Fortunately, they are two aspects of diabetes management, over which we have some control.

For the time being, I'd try not to skip meals, because that complicates the picture. Keep to three meals a day, breakfast. lunch and dinner (if that's what your digestive system is used to) at approx. the same times and leave intermittent fasting alone until your readings have stabilised. Consistency is the name of the game.

Morning All I don’t know whats going on @flonvic but I have twinned up again at 6.6! Better a 6 than a 7 anyway. I am out of the country for 5 days from very early tomo so not sure I will get in here every day. I however will be back soon. Take care everyone.
Hope you have a lovely holiday . :)
