5.9 today and…..it’s a cooler day today and zero smoke! Oh my, I got to open my windows last night and it was pure heaven. Got a great light show last night too but thunderstorms are super dangerous right now….lightning caused two fires in town last night. Highs today of 30, it’s really nice.
just booked flights for our next holiday this winter …..Egypt and morocc. Flying from Canada is so very, very expensive! Ouch.

Morning All 8.1 which I suspect isn’t right but it was the last strip and needed tea more than finding new sticks lol. @Mojo I couldn’t be happier for you and @Ryhia I wouldn’t come to me for tips but thank you. I always think that as long as we all keep carrying on to keep in check then we are all on the right track. Happy Wednesday everyone.

All the eights this morning! 8.0 at 8am and as @Estragon has said stoopid T2 :(

Goodness my back hurt last night I was wondering if this operation has cured anything….I hope to goodness it has and I know I have to give it time. Someone told me it took them 6 months to recover! I was hoping to get back to doing cartwheels soon. (Actually I haven’t done those since I was 13 so why I think I’ll be able to do them now is a mystery :joyful: )

Have a lovely day everyone x

Morning all. 7.2 this morning. I was really good esterday so @DEBBIESCOTT, you are right, it isn't always about the food. Have a great day folks.
I think you are right as it seems to take a couple of days for me to register my good and bad meals. We had a BBQ on Sunday and I had a new potato, 1/2 pitta bread and a couple of glasses of cider. Just to be sociable you understand, stuff which I try to avoid normally. My before bed reading was 6.8 All good normally.
Next day my Monday and Tuesday readings although in 6's first thing shot up to 9's and 10's throughout the day and all day despite eating sensibly and even skipping breakfast one day.
It would seem there is a few days time delay which doesn't make much sense to me as I thought BS was directly related to intake of food hence the watchful eye on food spikes. 3 days on my average is coming down a bit (highest so far 8.5 after lunch.)

As always I am constantly baffled by BS readings and a bit disappointed that one day only of falling off the wagon (marginally in my book) can have such strange negative results.

Evening @RosemaryJackson. Don't think Debbie or anybody else here has said it's always about the food.

Basically, it is what you eat and your insulin response, but we know illness, injury, stress, adjustments to medication and even a sudden change in routine can affect BG readings.

A low-carb lifestyle and regular meal times seem to work well for most of us, most of the time. Fortunately, they are two aspects of diabetes management, over which we have some control.

If it's any consolation @ChrisT2 (it probably isn't) when we go out to dinner, no matter how careful I am, usually takes about 4 days for my BG readings to settle back to the normal range.
