Usually popping up in the late 4's early 5's before. That's after I changed my diet completely and read the diabetes solution by the grand diabetes master that is dr.richard Bernstein.
So sorry for your loss hopefully things will get better given time. K

Morning all!

4.3, about normal at the moment and means I can get away with taking 0 units of NR with breakkie - 1 x wholemeal Nimble toast and a fried egg. With lots of butter ;)

x
I'd still need insulin to cover that. I Don't eat any bread anymore, I'd have to be in a real pickle with nothing else to eat to even consider a slice of nimble.

Thanks granny_g

When I showed my gp my libre last week he thought they would of been a lot worse than they where. Sit and cycle brings me back in check. Think it's the sadness and bad dreams mixed with a very potent dawn phenomenon. Rolling back over in bed sends my sugars crazy anyway as I find I need to get straight up have a shot and get on with my day.

Morning all. Good to be back among chatty friends. :) A surprising 5.6 at 7.25 am! I thought these steroids were supposed to raise bs levels. This is the lowest fbs I've ever had! ( Had hypos but later in the day). Just enjoying it for now and will see what tomorrow brings.:joyful:

Good morning all. I like the idea that this thread has become chatty. It helps to get to know the person behind the numbers.

My blood sugars were 5.8 today.

I've been adding more protein to my diet and stopped doing strenuous exercise because my GP was concerned about high ketones. Unfortunately, my fbgs have been creeping up since doing this. So, I am slowly starting to be concerned.

@Butterfly1960 -- I am so sorry to hear that your dad isn't doing well. Please take care of yourself.
@Key_master_ -- I am so sorry to hear about your loss. It is really hard to lose a parent.

It's an exercise bike with just the seat and peddles. My mum gave it to me. Probs a qvc bargain. Haha!!

Will try and grab a link as it wouldn't take my pic as too big, it's very basic. Effected for me though in helping get moving.

http://indoorsfitness.com/sit-n-cycle-review/

I use it instead of my after dinner walk in the evening if it's raining or just need to get my insulin working if I'm having a lazy day.

Hi @debrasue I'm posting on the morning FBG 'chatty' thread! Just realised it's changed -

Hope all is well with you? I took a break over summer but back on track now. Off to my youngest brother's wedding today - it's tomorrow and I'm the best man so need to keep off the carbs so my head is clear! Oh, need to write a speech too ;)

Have a great day x

Thanks a lot @ziggy_w its been a real shocker, I've had the pleasure of being his carer and work aid for the last 5 years since his accident which made his t2 return after he reversed it with diet and exercise, was on huge doses of insulin too.

If you start of slow with exercise and then build up through out the session it might take the strain off which causes a sharp rise in my blood levels. My morning ride of just under 2 miles was enough to make me spike because it was uphill most the way and not long enough to crunch my levels back down. Also DP was active as well. I used to have 2 units before and eat and jab for my low carb breakfast after. Got my spike from 10-15 down to just over 6 and steady.

Yes, I'm good thanks, hun - it's lovely to hear from you. I'm going to be focusing on the 'very little chat' thread, due to not having much time in the mornings, but I'll drop in here now and again too, when things are less manic. Good luck with the wedding and have fun! xx

I personally don't think folks ought be stressed about finding the figures only or loquacious version of the thread and ought not be subject to manners policing, but the title thing is helpful

With respect, Contralto, I think you may be missing the point.

I don't see this initiative as "stressing" or "manners policing". I see it as structuring the website to meet everyone's needs. You wouldn't go to the library if you wanted to buy a loaf of bread, would you? This website is a living, evolving community and it makes sense to provide a proper structure, so that members know where to go to find exactly what they're looking for. If a website ceases to meet the needs of its members, they will drift away and the site will die.

Personally, due to other commitments I frequently find myself with very little time in the mornings. It's important for me to take and record my FBG to help me stay on track, but equally I want to be able to support other members through the ratings system, applauding a run of good consistent readings or commiserating with an unexplained dip. Having a thread which is succinct and to the point helps me to do this and still meet my other morning obligations. I can then indulge in chatting and socialising with other members in the evenings on one of the specific 'chat' threads, when I have more time.

Of course, other members want to record their FBGs and enjoy reaching out for a chat at the same time. I applaud this, of course, and this new structure is designed to allow members to do exactly that.

I say, well done, Mods, for identifying a need and applying an intelligent solution!

(FBG 5.3 today :))

Hi @Key_master_,

Caring for your dad for five years is a very long time -- although, I believe we are always grateful for any additional time we are given with our parents. I lost my dad about two years ago and sometimes still feel guilty for not having spent more time with him before he died.

As to blood sugar levels, I am still surprised to see how much stress impacts blood sugars, in my case the impact of stress is probably higher than the effect of food. Edited to add: It might be different for T1s, though.

Well done for getting your spike down through exercise.
