What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

5.9 today
Hope everyone has had a lovely Christmas and a happy new year wishing you all the best
I’ve not been posting over the festive period as I’ve been eating and drinking what I wanted obviously keeping my levels in a decent range but mainly enjoying myself and not being as strict on myself be honest i was even questioning if i was diabetic lol I never went over a reading of 11 for some of the drinks/food I consumed very surprising lol think I was getting a bit of help from the pancreas still
as I didn’t have to much fast acting insulin why I was on the beer

Hi again just to update on what I posted on my BG readings this morning!
2:20am BG 6.2
6:45am BG 6.7
10:20am BG 6.0
11:20 am BG 5.6
Just has I thought 6:45 BG was a liver dump and from their on it started dropping, think I'm over worrying about things after being so careful then eating what was on offer over Christmas! So excuse my ranting please! K

happy new year to you sobo glad you had a great xmas and new year and it sounds as if you had a ball good for you ;):joyful:

@rayhigginson just a thought but so called sugarfree drinks are not without sugars in many forms just check the sugar under sorbitol, aspartame etc. it comes in many names but it's still sugar, this could be the culprit of your highs ! If your unsure Google sugar substitutes in fizzy drinks! K

Aspartame is an artificial sweetner. It is not broken down to glucose and so does not affect blood glucose levels unlike sugar or sucrose

I think I may be coming down with the flu perhaps. Very thirsty this morning already up to 60oz of water. Bg’s down to 6.6 now but still feeling sick and bloated.
Maybe I’m just worried for all the other drivers out there as my oldest daughter just got her learners permit

Have you called your GP?

I usually drink lots of water with sliced lemons and fresh mint leaves with flu symptoms.

@NewTD2 luckily I have my quarterly review with my GP tomorrow morning and my Diabetes dietician after that. Maybe it’s just a food hangover from all the holiday treats. I know something is up when I can’t drink my morning coffee.
