What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Thanks K...have irregular appointments there depending on how my INR levels are...sometimes every week...two weeks and so on...even occasionally every couple of days...hate missing them...rearranging appointments...however...in my frame of mind better to rearrange for me & the clinician ...not receptive to inexperience or unexplained delays today...no...definitely not today!
Take a chill day if you can says she who has been so stressed I'm going for treatment for it today, not looking forward to it,not had this amount of stress since I was a young woman, but family and other things are becoming harder to deal with has I get older!K

Good luck with the appointment K...seems everything becomes more tricky as we age...however...on a positive note experience does give us an 'edge' at times like this when decisions have to be made...my appointment is not necessarily a 'crucial' one...rearranging it is unlikely to have any detrimental long term effect...anxious to avoid the stress which as you rightly say can take its toll...update us when you can...fingers crossed your day has a positive outcome...the trip is productive....uneventful... with a swift return home.

Good morning....5.6 this morning at 6.45am.....back to my normal at last despite lack of sleep due to the storm battering us all night......it certainly lived up to the forecast for our area!Do take care if you are out in this awful weather and stay safe.Thinking of you@Granny_grump_Hope your appointment goes well and you begin to feel better.

5.8 today although I reckon that will have risen by the time I test in another hour after breakfast due to liver dump and the insane drive into work this morning! It’s windy out!

Take care, fallen trees in some parts.

Mine was 8.8, but I know why as I ate ice cream and chocolate late last night. Shouldn't have eaten either but my daughter had some so I joined in! I'm still learning so hopefully today will be a better day. I'm reading the posts on here and they give me inspiration

There are low carb / sugar free alternatives for homemade cakes and ice cream.

There are recipes in the low carb program, Keto on YouTube and the diet doctor website.

@TiggerB we all do things like this from time to time the thing is not to beat yourself up about it, just take it one day at a time especially if you are a new diabetic. If you need more help and information on type2 diabetes I could tag daisy1 for you and she will send you information to help you. This is sent out to all new diabetics to give them more understanding of what to do to help them maintain their blood glucose levels and wellbeing, do you have a meter to test your blood glucose levels if not you can ask how to get a free one but buy your own strips. I've just done this for my hubby and we are now both on the Tee3 meter and I buy the strips for them at a cost of £7.50 for 50 strips,if you need info about things just ask a question on here and someone will get back to you. Good luck and don't worry on your own just ask, fabulous people on here they will guide you through it all.K

Thanks, started the low carb programme on Monday so still early days but learning all the time
Hi TiggerB it takes time to take in all the information you will read but you will get their, you have made a good choice with the LCHF diet I've just finished a 12 months on it and lost 4stone 3 pounds to date. It took the year has like so many other people I'd do it for a while and come off it especially after holidays, then get my head on again and back into it, I liked it Has I found it the easiest diet I'd done never hungry and weight loss soon visible. I'd done every diet and never been able to loose weight like others, didn't realise it was due to the carbs in other diets being more than my diabetic body could take after 17 years diabetic. We never got any help and information back then and the information the NHS dish out now is no better, wish you well on your new journey and I'm sure you will do well. K

Thanks Granny_grump, info from daisy1 would be good. I do have a meter so that's sorted at least :)
@TiggerB Great tagging daisy1 for you and when you get the information if I can help with anything just ask, I won't go into anymore just now with you except test BG before you eat and 2 hours after you eat so you can see how your foods reaction is on your BG . It's how we work out what foods keep us stable and which spike our BG,you will learn has you go along one step at a time don't rush. It takes time to work things out! K

Hi Tigger...I was diagnosed in July 2016...with a fasting BG of 17.4...now almost eighteen months later I have an average of 5.6...the best understanding of my diabetes & how to manage it came from a book recommended by a friend...Type 2 Diabetes The first Year by Gretchen Becker...herself type 2 diabetic it takes you through her first year month by month...explains what diabetes is...how/why it develops...diet...self monitoring our blood glucose...the relevance of testing...the benefits we can obtain from that...it really did change my perspective on my condition...I decided to find a routine that worked for me at a steady pace...something I could sustain in the long term...diet is very much an individual matter for each type 2 diabetic...what I can tolerate may not be right for you...and vice versa...you can preview the book on Amazon before deciding whether to buy it....well worth a look.
