What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Good morning .......7.5 this morning, after a7.0 when I tested last night. The potato mash was delicious, but after 14 months low carbing, I don't react well to potatoes mashed,a few chips or roasties, don't have such an effect.........ah well back to 'normal' food today!Ill give the coffee and cream a go for breakfast!

9 this morning but had my lowest reading last night at 7.3 since diagnosis
You're in single figures Hwad... 7.3 is in range...so that's positive...our waking numbers are often the last to come down...we're all works in progress...so give yourself some time...don't rush...I'm assuming you're relatively newly diagnosed...apologies if that's incorrect...you'll get there.

Thank you. Diagnosed Nov last year and took a while to get my head around everything. So delighted to see these figures come down from 15.6 at diagnosis

Hwad... that's a remarkable reduction in such a short space of time...it takes time to make sense of all the information...process it...apply it...there isn't any rush...better to find a routine you can sustain in the long term...experiment...that's the benefit of testing...I remember the first time I got into single figures...I was so excited...well done.

Couldn't find the thread this morning......double whammy ordered test strips and they didn't arrive until this afternoons post......excuses excuses!!Had a great time celebrating a friends 70th with a fantastic meal lots of chat and laughs.Probably won't test until tomorrow as I ate mashed potato.....the first for over a year.Drove in dreadful conditions with falling snow and flooded roads, what a mixture and so the potato was my reward.@Granny_grump_yes the black pudding has bread in it,I tried haggis the other week and the oats gave me a high reading.Like you I need new batteries!!
Glad you enjoyed your day out with friend and the mashed potato it does you good to do things with others and the laughs are a huge bonus, like you I'd run out of test strips yesterday but has my hubby has same meter has myself I borrowed a couple from him, got them now he picked my prescription up at doctors yesterday afternoon. Hubby has only been diagnosed 12 months and already he has high blood pressure and cellulitis in both legs, don't know much about this condition any one know anything of it.
It's 4 am I'm up and writing this cup of coffee and tested BG @ 4am it was 6.8 Have a good day everyone! K

I have been eating keto since Friday so I think my Basal needs to come down even more. Let's bear in mind while eating Ketogenic, I haven't taken any fast acting insulin since Friday evening...

8.4 this morning... I'm new to this and still trying to get basal right. This is the lowest I've had so am delighted (although know it's still high) Hope you keep posting here JoeT1 as I am really interested in following how you get on with Keto. Watched Dr Ian Lake's youtube presentation last night and found it inspiring and think I'd also like to give Keto a go

Something still not right with the site I've posted this at 4 am this morning, and just updated my BG now without editing, would suggest it's not accepted my post earlier! K
@moderator something not quite right with the posting of BG on this site today, would you take a look at it!K

Will for sure be posting often with how I am getting on. You can also follow me on Twitter if you are that way inclined.

3.9 This morning. So Basal seems to need dropping on evenings when I am not doing anything exciting. For a brief example.

Normal Week - Eating Relatively Low Carb anyway
9 Units Levimir Morning
14 Units Levimir Night
7-8 Units Apidra Fast Acting, 50 Units for the week, at least 21 injections

Keto Week - Eating below 10g carbs regularly
8 Units Levimir Morning
12 Units Levimir Night
1 Unit all week, Total. 1

Hi @Newbie 2 LADA - Please be very careful of making big changes to your way of living whilst you are getting used to diagnosis and getting your insulin usage/lifestyle into shape.

I'm not suggesting a keto lifestyle is a poor choice. I'm certainly not doing that, but until you have a good understanding of your reaction to your insulin, then making sweeping changes to another aspect of the puzzle could just as easily lead more confusion than less.

Please only change one thing at a time, with extreme care and with the knowledge of what to do should something unexpected happen. This is along game and you really need your medical team onside.

Morning all. Not about much anymore but still popping in when I can. This forum is far to valuable to be ignored!!

So---my fbg is still too high for me. I am 8.6 today. What is going on??? It has been up since just before Christmas when I had a small op. Expected it to go up a bit for a while. Christmas was ok, didn't over indulge, although the mince pie was delicious! But since then I have not had a fbg under 6.5. Was having 4-5 before. Have had a far bit of stress. Grandson has been very poorly but seems better. And my oh was made redundant last week. We are in that awful period of being too old to find more work and too young to retire. But this problem started before that.. Think I might start a please help thread?
