What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and all who tinkle the ivories well more plastic these days.
An unsurprising 8.2 for me today, my eating patterns were messed up yesterday afternoon and evening, never mind, below 10.
Today folks is the start of another week where can set ourselves pointless challenges feeling smug and conveniently forgetting them by Thursday, well that's my aim for today.
Has a good one folks.

Not been a good day for us we lost our dog today she didn't seem to well this morning and had been out of sorts for a few days so took her to the vets thinking it was just an upset tummy or dogie version of flue but was liver cancer and had to be put down have been crying all day we had her since she was a puppy.

Such sad news @JohnEGreen big hugs

Another perfect Autumnal day here so I hope you all enjoy good weather rather than have to endure 2/3 of diddly squat. 5.8 on the post modern, who broke the truth, meter today. Slept like a baby and resting pulse right where I want it but that sucker - fbg - definitely an under performing unit. Now a real test of my nerve as to whether to start taking Metformin again or wait until mystery bug dies off and exercise resumes.

Good morning all, 5.5 today. Diping my toe in the water of keto. But there is a chasm between a low carb diet and ketosis. Anyway a shopping trip is on the cards to stock up. Sunny here. Home gym for me today.
Hope everyone is well, have a good day all.
@Canvaspic Good luck with keto those who can eat that way really have my admiration. I can fast for a few days but can't do that so I will watch with great interest.

Like i said on the other fasting forum. What are you complaining about the 5's for?. I would thank the good Lord for that. 6.8 this am. and thankful i'm alive.:singing:
@Moggely To some degree a point well made but in that other forum many posters would also give thanks for numbers below 8 or 7. What people see as a normal range for them varies hugely.

oh ok @ianpspurs point taken and i am always willing to learn. But my point was, i would love to have some 5's and lower, maybe i never will. Who know, but to those that do..."congratulations" I envy you.:playful:

Morning all. More than a little late today. I woke at two had to feed the cat and then read most of the Internet. If it was light I'd have started the day but I dropped back off around 4:30. Amazingly my morning reading is 5.2. I'm tired though ( I'm writing this from a Portuguese cafe which serves the worlds strongest coffee, so that should fix things). Have a great day if you possibly can...

I also am in admiration of those who can do it. I have a 7 year old cousin who has been put on a keto diet for elipesy. If he can do it, I figure i can also. If I can manage a month, i will be really pleased with myself. I also know it took me 3 days of fasting to show any ketones, so I don’t underestimate the challenge.

Been there, done that and gave up. Save Yorkshire pudding for Christmas day as a cheat treat. Yorkshire only works for me cooked under a large beef joint. Hard or crispy Yorkshire is a total waste of food, energy and effort IMHO.
Hi Ian, sadly my experiment proved you right, total failure. But i had half a small Aunt Bessie's as i couldn't get the yorkshire pudding idea out of my mind and it didn't cause a major problem. 5.8 this morning so i might risk it again before christmas!

@Canvaspic I have been mulling this - Keto WOE- over for some time and did some trawling of ye net. I have no actual idea of your stats e.g. height and weight but based on posts you have a home gym like me and exercise along the same lines. I am 1.83 cms and was 72.8 kgs at last medical for BMI of 21.7. (I weigh every day so know I am within 1/2 kg of that.)
My point here is it is often quoted that triathletes and distance runners flourish on keto (see this article) https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2015/11/151117091234.htm. Brownlee and women triathletes come in around BMI 21 or lower so are quite slight and distance runners are generally very spare to be polite. My stats are a near perfect match for Jordan Henderson, Christian Eriksen ,Joe Root and Jimmy Anderson (he is taller). All of those are athletes playing roles I used to play. I can find no hint those guys eat keto so the journey may be tough and it goes some way to explain to me my difficulty eating that way. There may well be optimum physical height and size for certain activities and optimum WOE that works to maintain the key characteristics - keto may not be for all shapes and needs? My stats pretty much match where I was at my best which enabled me to play in the same teams as a future England footballer and a future England cricketer,
If this is unhelpful or wrong thread mods delete and other people ignore but I do think WOE is inextricably linked to fbg.
