over selling.... oh so many things are enthusiastically oversold
@dunelm I also got a Contour Next One meter through the post, totally forgot about the quiz/competition thing I’d filled in so was quite perplexed when it arrived.
Like others have said, it’s good but at £20 for 50 strips it’s too expensive to use full time.
I did that too ! Nice handy size for travelling ...

woke to a 4.5 ... I'm putting it down to the tennis yesterday , which according to the NHS is considered "weight bearing exercise " ..... The word exercise makes it all sound a bit "worthy" though......

Morning all. It’s a 3.9 for me and what a day it is. Final cheerleading practice this morning before my daughters team tryouts tomorrow, then this afternoon is her birthday party. She tried to get up at 3am as she’s that excited! Thankfully by half 4 I’d managed to get her to go back to sleep. Coffee needed me thinks!!

Good morning all. We decided on the spur of the moment to spend the day in Antwerp today, about a 2-hr drive, really looking forward to some fresh seafood and looking at some antique and second hand stores.

Also changed the batteries on my meter (it's a Contour Next meter, @dunelm -- generally very happy with it, very accurate, but pricey strips as others have said). Also did a few parallel tests with my old meter (also a Contour Next meter) and the old meter consistently reads about 0.4 mmol lower (although a year ago when I switched over they were much closer to each other). Don't know which of the two meters has changed? My guess is on the older meter, but probably doesn't matter much anyway though.

@Chronicle_Cat -- Happy belated birthday. Did you have a wonderful day?
@JohnEGreen -- Yes, those unexpected high rogue readings can cause quite of a shock. When this happened to me once (I think a reading of about 10 mmol), I first went hot all over, only then slowly started considering the probability of this and did a second test (which turned out to be around 5 mmol). In the end, it was only a rogue strip. Btw, congrats on the birth of Loric Gabrial.
@karen8967 -- So sorry about the hypos in the last few days, really must be a bit scary waking up so low.
@Goonergal and @DJC3 -- Glad to see your colds are improving.

Blood sugars were 4.8 today.

Yikes! Are you MI6 or HoC? Either way, here is a hug, and hope for a restful and work-free weekend.
Nothing so exciting. I do project based work so sometimes the deadlines are tight.
It’s a factor I think in why I’m here in the first place: a heady mix of long hours, stress and constantly changing locations fuelled by ****** canteens, hotel food, petrol station snacks, vending machines , caffeine and alcohol. I look at the bright eyed kids coming into our profession and then at my fellow veterans and I see the toll it takes.
I’m not complaining- I’m well paid for a job I enjoy doing: that’s something to be thankful for.
But my story is a lesson to fellow beancounters about the impact of a high carb lifestyle.

5.4 this morning I’ve got the coffee on to give me a bit of a buzz ready for my last personal training session this morning. Not really looking forward to it if I’m honest but I do feel good when it’s over!

@ziggy_w that sounds like a lovely day you have planned in Antwerp. I look forward to seeing what you ate later on the other thread. Don’t spend too much in those antique shops.
@Emma_369 an exciting day for your little princess, I think you’ll be in need of something stronger than coffee by this evening!

Ooh - I’ve been edited for moderation. First time. Sorry mods- didn’t mean to break the rules.
That’s a low threshold though. If it means “rubbish” and rhymes with flappy then it’s not allowed.

Good morning on a very wet morning here in the dark and dangerous north. That’s put paid to my planned sun bathing.
Still, a pleasant 5.5 on the wheel of mystery and Tom foolery at 0700.
Yes @ziggy_w, I don’t suppose it matters if a meter runs a bit low or high but can I please have one that just says 5.0 whenever you switch it on, no need for strips and stuff, just a comfort meter. Have a great time in Antwerp.
Footnote; the rain has just been substituted for a bout of sleet.
Have a great day if you can, flick through travel brochures under a sun lamp if you can’t.
