I was told if a person is on meds for diabetes then testing strips would be prescribed. Is that not the case anymore. I fund my own as I was always getting "huffs and sighs" from the gp and nurse when I kept enquiring as they did prescribe previously despite not being on meds.
I think if you are on Gliclazide as it can cause hypos, then they will prescribe strips.

I self fund all my strips and Cgm (if I want one). I just sigh…
this morning I was 6.3. Still zero carb.
warming a bit but we’re in for a big snowfall….20 cm to start tonight.
went to the gym this morning for leg day then hit Costco to see if I could get the Dexcom 7 ….and I can! Pricey (about $82 CAD) but will be a lifesaver on holiday. Hoping they do better for me than the libre.
Does the cold weather impact your blood glucose levels?

Sound like T2 have a tough time with the NHS. For us type 1’s cgm/ test strips are the norm on prescription, that said it’s a postcode lottery! I myself have had to fund omnipod 5 as my control is deemed as too good. If I didn’t give a stuff had high blood sugars the nhs would give me all the tech I need. I do care but am forced to self fund. Rant over

Honestly, when it’s incredibly cold I don’t go out. Once it snows (tends to be warmer) I do go out a lot, but I work…I shovel our house and then the walking trail out back….so generally my blood sugar elevates. I find heat really affects me with big rises.

Morning all. A fasting BG of 6.6 for me today. The house is cold atm as the central heating has only just kicked in so I guess it must be pretty chilly. Outside. I live in the SW and apparently it's far worse further north with some areas getting snow.. If you're one of those peeps stay safe and warm today.

I'm off out birding later - never could understand how waders cope with paddling line this weather.

Have a great day all

Being told “Oh go on, one won’t hurt you!”.
Conversely, the food police.
Add me to the self-funding list. I am also on Pension Credit so it costs me just over 12% of my monthly income to buy my own :(

This morning, with the temperature at an average of 10 deg C in my flat my readings were …
Libre 5.4
Finger poke 4.8.
Excellent start to the day.

6.3 on the edge of the bed, after opening eyes (and cleaning hands)

5.0 after drinking a glass of water

I guess we go by the first one isn’t it as probably more representative of the state I was in when waking.

Although I guess if you’ve ever done a fasting at the docs, water was allowed in the morning and you’d have to get up to get there unless you sleep under the nurses desk :p

Both are fine really compared to what I was getting before, don’t want to get too obsessed with fluctuations or half points, margins of error, etc.

6.3 at 7:15am I’ve had a jabbing pain in my stomach since yesterday morning, no idea of the cause. Plus I slipped over on the ice yesterday walking the dogs and landed on my bad knee! Both woke me in the night and because of the stomach pain I was reluctant to take any pain killer. Oh woe is me  :D

I hope you have a warm Wednesday it’s 0° here at the moment.
