Fasting still a thing?
Evening @IanA123

Welcome to this thread for diabetes of all types. Here you can post your blood glucose reading on waking first thing in the morning.

Testing as we wake makes the conditions pre check as close to identical as possible and the result provides a useful benchmark for day to day comparison.

In other words, this thread is not about fasting per se, although some here practice time-restricted eating and intermittent fasting.

6.7 at 6:14, but it kept on going to 8 by 8:16 when I had breakfast.
Hi @May Mic.

While the actual numbers vary between individuals, this pattern is normal and to be expected. Most of us on this FBG thread check our BG levels as soon as we wake first thing in the morning because BG numbers rise once we start to move around. Obviously a lower FBG reading is preferable so that the rise begins from a lower starting point. That said, today's FBG 6.7 mmol is none too shabby.

If breakfast is delayed, you could halt the expected rise iwith a modest snack of, say, 3-4 almonds or hazelnuts.

5.9 this morning but then got cocky & had homemade bread with some local honey for breakfast, spiked at over 11 & then crashed to 2.9 by midday Ah well tomorrow is another day & back to the oats & yog for breakfast…
Good evening @Paule Foster and welcome back to this FBG thread for all comers. We're pleased you could join us once again.

Congratulations on achieving a respectable FBG reading first thing this morning. Unsurprisingly, your home-made bread and local honey sent the blood glucose readings soaring. Honey is no better than sugar unfortunately. Ah well, tomorrow's another day, as you say.
